TEAM DONALD--Biggest Loser 11 Spring Team Challenge

Oh, my goodness...be careful everyone! These injury reports are not good.

So I watched the first episode of BL today while I did some mindless filing type work and guess what it motivated me to do? Rearrange things and get my treadmill in now because I will feel better getting it over with. We have Bible study at our house tonight, so company will be here till at least 9pm, maybe later. So, I'm headed to walk and watch Lost! Report back later.

QOTD: I'm terrible about journaling, but have truly seen the value when I do it. I'm just not that faithful to actually penning it on paper or worse yet on the computer. Yuck! I know, it does work. But I am changing the way I look at meals and snacks and yes even each smear of butter or lick of the spoon while cooking. Mostly I keep track of calories, but also try to eat a veg or fruit plus a protein at each meal and not overboard on the carbs.

Anybody else struggle with it?

We had some very sad news today, my DH's aunt passed away suddenly and she was only 70. Her husband, my DH's uncle just passed away last Spring. We are so shocked, she was a real sweetheart and very loved by the whole family. I know DH is stressed. He's downstairs helping DS pack for snowboarding trip tomorrow ...they are taking a break from studying for DS trig exam tomorrow. This exam counts for 25% of their MT grade and we (Mom & Dad) just found out about it yesterday, thanks to another parent:headache:

Good luck at WI tomorrow Donalds :wizard:

Shawnprincess:

I'm so sorry to hear that Shawn. Hugs and prayer to DH and the rest of the family.

QOTD Thursday January 20, 2011 - There has been a lot of talk about journaling. Please share how you journal and what you record, is it just the foods or do you list calories, fat, protein, fiber, etc for each food?

The first week I journaled I just wrote down what I ate and what time. This week I've been trying to write down calories, fat and protein. I use those 3 because I still have the WW points calculator.

I'm bad, but I'm not even going to TRY to catch up! I've been MIA for several days......like a week! On track, but not online....except to search for college textbooks for the kids, etc.

Failed to report in last week. Started journaling EVERYTHING, exercise more, stay within points and calorie burn on Bugg, and GAINED .5! Oh well........ I know I was doing the right thing. Hopefully will have some kind of a loss tomorrow.

Still trying to get the house back to normal after sewage flood and Christmas. Gotta push it tomorrow. DS21 is having a birthday party for his GF here. Hopefully I"ll be back on more....it's not that I don't want to be and am not thinking of everyone!

I have my 6 week 'mapping' of my legs tomorrow morning. Hopefully everything is as it should be. I just wish the bruising would keep fading....I still look slightly bruised. But worth it to be rid of the nasty vein!

Have a good night all!

Prayers and pixiedust: for your DH and your family today, Pamela.

Your DH (and you, too, of course) is probably thinking "Man, I will be so glad when I see the last of this place!" :flower3:

VERY TRUE!! Actually, his cast was supposed to come off this past Tuesday, but we had to postpone due to the snow.... and now there is more snow predicted for tomorrow, so we may have to postpone AGAIN. He is SO anxious to have the cast off and it very frustrated, but the road we have to take to the medical center is notorious for being bad driving in the snow.... and we have to be on it for almost 90 minutes, so if we have to postpone again, SO BE IT!!

Actually, I had to leave the recovery room because the smell was making me nauseous. It reminded me so much of the first 3-4 days that DH was in the ICU and that smell was SO STRONG in there. It was all I could smell for days and days.... I was convinced that even I was smelling like it (sort of an antiseptic smell). I'm not normally sensitive to smells and I've worked in hospitals, so antiseptic smell doesn't bother me (actually, I have a good childhood memory related to hospital smell), but anyhow.....no good memories attached to that particular smell...:sad2: But hopefully it will be a long, long, long time before I have to experience it again.

:worship: You are my hero! That is my goal but I am not there yet. How long does it usually take you to get all that together? How often are you repeating the same meals?

Well..... I repeat "favorites" (Manwich, tacos, pizza) about every two weeks or so. And I try to include at least one brand new recipe about every 7 days, and we have breakfast for dinner about once every 10 days. And then, of course, there are the nights when I KNOW no one will be home at dinner time... so those spots get marked for either a picnic dinner out (packed at home ahead of time) or Subway (I try to avoid fast food at all cost).

Earlier last year I was on a misison to clean out my recipe box. I took out EVERY RECIPE in the "Main Dishes" section and went through them. If I KNEW I would never make it or we wouldn't enjoy it, I tossed it. The remainder I was determined to try. If I tried and it we didn't like it, I tossed it. If I liked it, I kept it. There are still just a few that got skipped over for one reason or another, but I'm pleased to say I tried most of them. (Although a few of them I kept for just sentimental reasons...... I had a "kitchen" shower when I got married and everyone brought me a hand written recipe. Several of the ladies have passed on, but I still have their recipes... so I am keeping them, even if I never intend to make them..)

I have a large cupboard full of cookbooks and Taste of Home magazines, even though I hate to cook. But I'm attempting to slowly but surely try many of them. So I am flipping through them when I have a spare minute or two and marking things that sound good. Then, when I do my menu plans, I just pull out the books and note it on the menu (I make note of the food title, cookbook, and page number on the menu, so I can find it again).

I can sit down with a few months worth of blank calendar pages, my stack of "want to try" recipes and cookbooks, and my freezer/pantry inventory and the family calendar and get several months of meals planned in maybe an hour or so.... maybe two hours if I am attempting to make shopping lists at the same time. I do it on the pool deck while waiting at swim meets or during my "planning" time at work or on my lunch time ..... pretty much any time I have nothing else to do. I do it by hand, old style (just print the blank calendar pages at home first), so it is easy to carry along anywhere.

I've been doing it this way pretty steadily for about a year and I have kept them all, so I have many I could grab and just repeat.

:woohoo:OK back from the DR. I have to see a podiatrist for my foot, but have to wait for approval from the insurance. I hate insurance. I'm going to continue to run in the mornings as long as I can.
106 days til the race. I need to stay on track!

And the girls are good. He thinks the pain is from my underwire but he is sending me for a base line mammogram anyway. BLECH! That is freaking DH out a bit.
And my BP was really good today. It's been up the last few months between being sick and stress so I'm glad it was good. I was worried because I did run before going up there but all was good!

Glad to hear it wasn't more serious with the "girls"..... mammo isn't that bad... just a big SQUEEZE! Can't be too modest though, when some other person is positioning things "just so"! Oh well.:rolleyes1

Very busy day for me today, finally enjoying some quiet time (9:20 PM here).
I enjoyed it as my days are usually prety quiet here. I did have an unexpected lunch out. I ordered the special which was chai tea, coconut and mango soup and chicken curry. No idea what the calories were but it didn't "feel" very heavy to me. I've been very good the rest of the week and expect to see a good number tomorrow based on my daily weigh-ins this week. I also finally got all 21 HH points this week:cool1:

For the past 10 months of my weight loss journey I never journalled or tracked my food. My plan was to make it simple and only eat moderate portions of healthy foods as much as possible. Sticking with this plan, I was able to lose 23.5 pounds. Not a tremendous amount of weight but a pretty good start. I first journalled last week for HH, only writing down what I ate. Since I've been stuck since Christmas at the same weight I decided to take it up a notch this week and track what I ate AND the calories in everything. I bought a food scale and am ready to take it to the next level! I am using a pretty spiral notebook that is about 8" x 8" and I use a new page every day.

Good job on the healthy lunch and HH points!!Did you write it in your nice new journal??

Sorry to hear about DH's aunt. I assume that she was back here in the U.S.?? Will he need to fly home for the funeral?

Good afternoon Team Donald.

A friend who is going to be a supervisor soon saw me today and we talked about the mentoring position. I told her that I hadn't heard about it. She has more pull than I do so she went to the office to check things out. She came back and told me that I got it. Going to be a busy semester.

Pamela Glad to hear he is out of surgery. Hope he is not in too much pain.

Nice job with the mentoring position! Extra $$ is nice too!!

Thanks for the thoughts. No pain at all!! In fact, he wanted pizza for dinner, but I kind of told him NO. His mouth looks like of red and tender and I didn't want him to aggravate anything. I told him that if everything still felt fine tomorrow that we could order out "real" pizza (take-out... not my super healthy whole wheat crust, lowfat cheese stuff I make at home  ) He did have the first McDonald's food that he has had since at least November 19! Not exactly my choice to feed him, but he was hungry on the way home (he had been without food since the day before) and I had already said no to pizza.... plus he's a big boy and I can't exactly tell him what he can/can't eat all the time.

Well..... I hope everyone is prepared for weigh-in tomorrow. The majority of my exercise this week has been in the form of snow removal :sad2: and more is on the way tomorrow. ICK! DD already had a mid-term exam postponed on Wednesday. If she has a snow day tomorrow that will mean three more exams postponed until Monday. At least it would give her more study time.... but also more time to stress about it. She has been studying SO HARD!! I am SO proud of her self-motivation and determination.... no matter what her grades turn out to be (but I'm sure they'll be terrific).

Well... I've got some low-fat soup warming on the stove for dinner..... everyonne else is getting left-overs.... it's "clean out the fridge" night here!! I'm gonna run!...........................P

Hi Donalds! I am really sorry that I have not been able to keep up with everything that is going on over here. But I know that you are in good hands.:goodvibes

Just a friendly reminder::)

When you PM tigger813 and cclovesdis tomorrow PLEASE include your TEAM NAME. If you are new and have any questions, you can either pm me or flipflopmom or post on the thread. Tracey and CC have their hands full dealing with two teams worth of pm's.

I hope everyone has a fabulous weigh in tomorrow!

QOTD Thursday January 20, 2011 - There has been a lot of talk about journaling. Please share how you journal and what you record, is it just the foods or do you list calories, fat, protein, fiber, etc for each food?

I have a BodyBugg and use their journal. It tracks everything, Cal/Fat/SatFat/TraFat/Sodium/Cholesterol/TotalCarbs/Fiber/Sugar/Protein/Calcium. At the end of the day there is a graph that shows if you met or exceeded your daily minumum requirements. When downloaded the Bodybugg will show how many calories you burned, etc. It will compare calories burned to the calories consumed and show if you are on track for your deficit in order to reach your weight loss goals. I like the feedback.

That is what I need! I was going to buy some olive oil Pam stuff but I think I would much rather do it that way. I know Pampered Chef used to sell one, but is there anywhere else I can get one?

I have seen them at BJ's and Bed, Bath and Beyond. I think they are around $9.99. They are on Amazon also.

QOTD: About journaling. I write down everything I eat. If I bite it, I write it! I am doing weight watchers, so I count points. And it is working! I had weigh in tonite and I am down another 3 pounds. I also started doing something called giving myself credit. I jot down things I did that were helpful to my weight loss. We spend so much time beating ourselves up over mistakes we make that we don't give ourselves credit for what we do right. For example, today I gave myself credit because someone brought banana bread into the faculty room and I said "no thanks". The old me would have had to have a slice (or two). I did an activity with hershey bars with my kids today (teaching fractions of the whole bar) and I didn't eat any! I gave myself credit for walking on the treadmill, too.

Welcome to Healthy Habits!

My name is CC (short for Christina) and I will be your Healthy Habits coach for BL 11. I love the BL challenges and Healthy Habits has helped me significantly in achieving many of my goals.

Some Background Information: Thanks to donac (Dona-hostess of Team Donald) and jenanderson for their amazing help so I know how to coach! I couldn’t do this without seeing them in action previously. I will be continuing the prizes that Jen started.

Here’s How Healthy Habits Works: Each week there will be 3 Healthy Habits (HH) to complete. The first two HHs will always be drinking water and exercising. (Note: The amount and time will increase throughout the challenge!) At the end of each week, you will tally up the number of points you earned for the week and send me a private message with your total. Here’s an example. For Week 1, the 3 HHs are drink Six 8 oz. glasses of water a day, exercise a minimum of 20 minutes per day, and eat at least 3 servings of vegetables a day. If on 4 days you get in all 3 HHs, you would report your points like this:

4/6 days of drinking water
4/6 days of exercising
4/6 days of eating veggies

Your total points (ex: 12/18) AND your team name should be in the subject of your PM.

This is a team competition. On/about Tuesday evening, I will post the week’s results. I will share the number of participants on each team and the top scorers on each team. New for BL 11: I will also list the people who earned 7/7 on one or more of the HHs for the week. If you participated on the team with the most participants, you will be entered into a drawing for the week's prize. Each prize will have something to do with the 3rd Healthy Habit for the week. I will post the winner and ask that you PM me your contact information. (Please Note: If you do not wish to be entered into the drawing, please let me know in your PM. I understand people’s WISHes for privacy.)

Participation in Healthy Habits is entirely optional, but I encourage you to participate and help your team be on top for the week. Good luck on your journey and I hope that HHs helps you as much as it continues to help me!

Welcome to Health Habits Week 4

Week 4 is 1/21-1/27

This week's 3 Healthy Habits are:
1) Drink Seven 8 oz. glasses of water.
2) Exercise a minimum of 20 minutes a day.
3) Enjoy 2 servings of dairy or dairy substitutes per day.

At the end of the week, please PM me your points. I will post the results on/about Tuesday. Don't forget, this is a team competition!

If you have any questions, please free to ask.

That's a really great idea!!! I am going to have to borrow that. :cheer2:

WTG, karliebug on the WL AND on learning to give yourself credit. Must try this, I'm serious, because you are RIGHT!

QOTD Thursday January 20, 2011 - There has been a lot of talk about journaling. Please share how you journal and what you record, is it just the foods or do you list calories, fat, protein, fiber, etc for each food?

I have a pen & paper journal that I write in every few days, just log how I did, nothing major. But I tend more towards the electronic outlets...

Like a lot of PP's, I, too, am logging everything I eat/drink in SparkPeople. I am a much healthier eater when I do this, duh! I also started a blog where I just log my meeting goals for my New Year's Resolutions. Most entries are at the end of the day, I just list my New Year's Resolutions: Exercise 30 min 3x/week; Eat 3 fruits/veggies; Drink at least 6 glasses of H20, and Declutter for 10 min/day. My "blog" entry is usually like going down a checklist, rarely do I detail my emotions or any of that jazz unless it is a remarkable day for some reason. It is just for me, I'm not seeking readers or comments, and I have blogged it 19 of the 20 days in Jan!

I am also using a site called JoesGoals.com where you simply set up a goals checklist & mark off if you did it or not. This helps me remember my points for the HH Challenge here @ Dis:thumbsup2

I do better when I journal in some fashion. Hope that holds true at tomorrow's weigh-in...:rotfl2:
Michele

Dreamer24- thank you so much for coaching this week.:flower3: I have loved reading all the answers to your qotds.

QOTD - Wednesday 1/19/2011 - What is one healthy swap you can make to your eating this week?
This week, actually tonight, I wanted something to eat while I watch Criminal Minds, so instead of a granola bar, or mini ice cream cone, I had a big bowl of roasted vegies.

So a big thank you to everyone who was talking about how they roasted their vegies. I made a big pan of roast sweet potatoes, red peppers, red onion, carrots, and zuchini. Sooooo good. Just with some olive oil and a little salt and pepper. I also picked up some acorn squash to try.

I think we'll have to check it out. Maybe some Friday when I'm off from work and kids aren't on vacation or anything, so it's not as busy.

Are you thinking about Coco Key at all in February? It's in the back of my mind pending my tax load that weekend, weather, money, etc. When is your trip to Disney?
It's definitely nice to take advantage of the quiet weekdays before dylan is in school. I'd love to go to coco key, but I really don't think I'll be able to swing it. We leave for disney on 2/23, and I was just thinking how I need to buckle down and get all the bills paid before that vacation. It is a great deal though.
We just got the call school is cancelled tomorrow. Hope your day care is open.
How long until spring?
Too long.:rotfl2: Another snow day and 7-10 coming here.

I just got engaged, so now there is even more incentive to get back on track (well that and the fact that I want to look good poolside when we head to WDW for our honeymoon!).
Congrats on your engagement!!:bride:

QOTD Thursday January 20, 2011 - There has been a lot of talk about journaling. Please share how you journal and what you record, is it just the foods or do you list calories, fat, protein, fiber, etc for each food?
I just fold a piece of paper in 4ths and use a new side for each day, and write everything I eat down, and how many ww points it is. I keep a tally of weekly points each day, and write it at the top of the next day, and I start with 31 daily points so I have that at the top and subtract as I eat during the day.

You can see that we all have similar issues across the threads -- full moon, holidays are really over, spring is a long time away! :sad2: So while we can't control what happens to us we are in charge of how we react to the various trials and tribulations that we encounter. So I urge you to not let these things derail your efforts in the areas that are really important to you -- like your health. You can deal with so much more when you are healthy! :flower3: This little article from sparkpeople is a good reminder that we are in charge of our attitudes.
:thumbsup2

Will answer QOTD later but just had to say I just walked/ran 1 mile in 17:50!!!!
I even got up to 5.0 for speed for almost a 1/4 mile. :woohoo:

headed to shower and see the DR. Be back later!!!
:cool1:Nice work on the treadmill!!!! Glad things went ok at the dr.

I was coughing and coughing and coughing...cracked rib. The pain is really rough and breathing is a little tough if I slouch. Soooo, while I can still workout and use the treadmill, I have to go at a slow pace and watch my breathing. The crack should heal in 3-4 weeks and the only thing I can do is rest and take tylenol :sad2:
:hug:Hope it heals quickly and you're feeling better soon.

DH is in day surgery today to get the remainder of his mouth hardware (from his jaw fracture) removed, so I knew I would have lots of spare time today, so I brought along my laptop and I plan to get caught up with everyone here today!
Yay!! So glad all went well today, and he is able to eat again!!!!

What did you buy? Did you try some new stuff? I need to find a replacement for carrots.... I am HONESTLY starting to turn a bit orange (it has happened to me in the past). I did have a small glass of carrot juice with breakfast, but I am laying off carrots for the next few days. I had cooked carrots twice yesterday, raw carrots once, and carrot juice with breakfast. YIKES! Too many carrots. I'm going to turn into a rabbit!
Carrots aren't my fav, but I bet orange looks nice with your blond hair.:lmao: I threw the carrots in for michael. Not too adventurous with the vegies, but am looking forward to trying the acorn squash.

Shawn,
Way to go! It is tough. Zoe make it look easy when it comes to the cardio part but she can't do push ups either. She loves butt kicks. I think she just likes saying butt and me not getting upset about it.
So cute.

We had some very sad news today, my DH's aunt passed away suddenly and she was only 70. Her husband, my DH's uncle just passed away last Spring. We are so shocked, she was a real sweetheart and very loved by the whole family. I know DH is stressed. So sorry. My thoughts are with you, dh and your family. It must be so hard for you both to be so far away.

We could go in, get a delay or be out all together. We just have to wait and see.
Good luck. Drive carefully if you have to go in.

Failed to report in last week. Started journaling EVERYTHING, exercise more, stay within points and calorie burn on Bugg, and GAINED .5! Oh well........ I know I was doing the right thing. Hopefully will have some kind of a loss tomorrow.

:hug:Keep on keeping on and that dang scale will follow suit. Good luck tomorrow. Hope all is well with the legs.

P
I bet that was the best mcdonalds dh ever tasted, but I'm sure he's dying to eat all you healthy, home cooked meals more than everything. So happy he is doing so well. It's been quite the snowy winter, hasn't it. I don't even want to look ahead to when school will get out this summer, but on the positive side, that may be one less week of summer camp I'll have to pay for.:rotfl2:

Hi Donalds! I am really sorry that I have not been able to keep up with everything that is going on over here. But I know that you are in good hands.:goodvibes

Thanks Cc for being our HH coach!!

Good evening everyone!! Never made it on this morning, and tonight we had scouts, and game night at school, so it was a busy day. I'm also trying to get up most mornings and do 30 min of wii fit. I did get my 20 min every day this week, and my sneak peak at the scale today was promising. Hope it doesn't change by tomorrow.

I'll be coaching starting tomorrow. I'll be back in the am with a qotd. Gotta get thinking. Have a nice evening. :)

Made it through the day. DD10 is very laid back and really fun to hang out with so that makes it much easier. I love my older dd to death but she is a little more high maintaince and things can get stressful.

But I am pretty sure someone beat me with the Stupid Stick. I volunteered to help at the high school tomorrow passing out their monthly incentive at lunch. Chili's Chips and Salsa!
thflaminghead-runner.gif
What the heck was I thinking? I absolutely LOVE their chips and salsa. Fortunately my job is to check the kids in on the computer at the far end of the table so hopefully that will help, and there will be just barely enough for the kids so no parents can sample. (yeah right, so far at every one of these there has been plenty of goodies for the volunteers!). I am going to eat a very big breakfast and take some snacks and a protein shake.

I've been very good the rest of the week and expect to see a good number tomorrow based on my daily weigh-ins this week. I also finally got all 21 HH points this week:cool1:

We had some very sad news today, my DH's aunt passed away suddenly and she was only 70. Her husband, my DH's uncle just passed away last Spring. We are so shocked, she was a real sweetheart and very loved by the whole family. I know DH is stressed.
Congratulations on getting all 21 points! pixiedust: for a great weigh in tomorrow!

I am sorry to hear about his aunt. It is so much harder when when it is sudden. :grouphug: to your family. Sounds like you have a lot of stress to deal with in the next few days.

A friend who is going to be a supervisor soon saw me today and we talked about the mentoring position. I told her that I hadn't heard about it. She has more pull than I do so she went to the office to check things out. She came back and told me that I got it. Going to be a busy semester.
Congratulations :cool1: I am sure the person you will be mentoring will be happy to have you and will get a lot out of the experience. :)

Still trying to get the house back to normal after sewage flood and Christmas. Gotta push it tomorrow. !
Oh my! That does not sound like fun.

Earlier last year I was on a misison to clean out my recipe box. I took out EVERY RECIPE in the "Main Dishes" section and went through them. If I KNEW I would never make it or we wouldn't enjoy it, I tossed it. The remainder I was determined to try.
I just did that in the last few months too! I can get so much on the internet now that I felt it was time to just let most of the paper go.
If I tried and it we didn't like it, I tossed it. If I liked it, I kept it. There are still just a few that got skipped over for one reason or another, but I'm pleased to say I tried most of them.
I actually sometimes keep the ones that are bad-- with a big note to never make it again! Some of my things are repeated in cookbooks or sites I like so it is best to keep a record of the things we hated!

(Although a few of them I kept for just sentimental reasons...... I had a "kitchen" shower when I got married and everyone brought me a hand written recipe. Several of the ladies have passed on, but I still have their recipes... so I am keeping them, even if I never intend to make them..)
I had the same type of shower and have the same thing. I would never make them but I can't throw them away. My mom has given my sister a handwritten copy of a casserole that we HATE! But it sort of has a family history so I want one too! Actually my sister said she would send me her copy.

Then, when I do my menu plans, I just pull out the books and note it on the menu (I make note of the food title, cookbook, and page number on the menu, so I can find it again).
Trying to get better at that. Sometimes I make the menu and have the cookbook on the counter while we use it so I know where it is at that time but if I go back later to that menu I have no idea what I was talking about!

I do it on the pool deck while waiting at swim meets
I always bring stuff like this to do but we tend to socialize a little too much during swimming.;) I am also on the Management Committee as soon as I get busy on something I get pulled away for some emergency.

I've been doing it this way pretty steadily for about a year and I have kept them all, so I have many I could grab and just repeat.
I would love to get together a year's worth and then just mostly repeat with new things added in as I find them.

Well..... I hope everyone is prepared for weigh-in tomorrow. The majority of my exercise this week has been in the form of snow removal :sad2: and more is on the way tomorrow. ICK!
That is great exercise! Hopefully you will see the rewards tomorrow.

I have a DD like that too. I have no idea where she gets it from-- definitely not me! But I prefer to just get them over with at this point, she is stressing pretty bad. Her exams are next week and she has been studying since last week.

QOTD: I also started doing something called giving myself credit.

What a great idea! We certainly deserve credit for overcoming even the small challenges. :thumbsup2

Oh, I forgot to add that while I was at the mall tonight I was killing time in Borders and broke down and bought this Shred you have all been talking about. I am a go with the crowd kind of gal! It was on sale for $12 so I figured what the heck. I probably won't get to even take a look at it until Monday because I am not even going to attempt it with the family around!

I will have to see how much of it I can adapt if it is too hard on my feet and hip, but I am excited to try. Crudmonkeys, did I just say I was "excited" about trying exercise? :faint:

I've been off the computer this week, as I was spending my free time getting an assignment done for the accounting course I'm currently taking. This is the first course I've taken in a year. This time around it is so nice that the course is related to the job I'm doing. I'm very happy with the move to the new house and new job :goodvibe.

I haven't gotten in as much exercise as I wanted this week, but did spend some time snovelling snow which was definitely some good exercise.

hope everybody is doing great :goodvibes

Good Friday morning Team Donald.

It is snowing here and I waiting for a call about being at least delayed. All the towns that I have to drive through have delays but we have not gotten a call yet. Wait I just saw my school name on the tv that I have a delay. Just wish dh would have one now. He did not have one the other day.

Don't forget to pm your weight to tigger813 and your HH points to cclovesdis. I haven't weighed in yet but I got 18/21 points for the HH.

Have to go. I have to call my student teacher to tell her we have a delay.

Have a happy and healthy day. Anyone in the northeast stay safe.

Lots of us are burning those shovelling calories. It looks so cold up in Canada. Stay safe and warm, shannon.

Congrats on getting the mentoring job, dona, and relax and enjoy your extra morning time. You know, relax with that dang shovel. thanks and you stay safe too.

Good morning and happy friday! Don't forget to pm your weights to Tigger813 sometime this weekend, and be sure to put Team donald in the title. Pm those Healthy Habits point to CClovesdis as well!! Let's see if we can beat Team Mickey this week in everything!!!

Well we've been at this for 3 weeks now, and I know some of us are having some tough days and challenges. We will have our ups and downs and trying to ride the waves and make small, positive changes that we can live with everyday is going to help us all reach our goals.

We may not always see our hard work reflected in the reading on the scale, but that doesn't mean we're not doing something right. I wish everyone would be thrilled with the number they see on the scale today, but know that's probably not likely to happen. I know everyone of us is here, trying our best, and even if you've had a blowout week, I'm sure there is at least one thing you have done that is a positive, healthy change.

Friday, 1/21/11 QOTD- List some positive changes you have made or felt over the past 3 weeks. Let's all celebrate our successes so far with this challenge and inspire each other to keep on this healthy path.

Have a great friday Team Donald!! Stay warm and safe if you're travelling in inclement weather. And good luck on the scale!!!!:cheer2:

Postitive change #1: I am sticking with it! Instead of doing pity parties with a slip up and eating a bag or two of chocolate, I am not giving up!

Positive change# 2 : I am making better choices. we are going out to dinner for a DS18 bday party and I made choices in advance on what to eat.

Positive Change # 3: I have goals and I am still working toward these goals. In the past I would do this for a week, say it's too hard and give up (and eat a bag of chocolate)

Yes it is hard and there are days I want to eat that bag of chocolate, but it's my choices that caused me to be overweight and now I choose to be healthy.
it's getting easier though, the excuses are just not reasonable anymore and I refuse to let food & stupid excuses rule my life!

be safe everyone dealing with snow. we are having heavy rain this a.m. Bad storms last night. Was so tired I slept right through them.

:cheer2:Go TEAM DONALD!
I hope everyone has a great weigh in!!!
Abby

I love the idea of "giving yourself credit" for good healthy things! That is a GREAT idea!

Dreamer24- thank you so much for coaching this week.:flower3: I have loved reading all the answers to your qotds.

Carrots aren't my fav, but I bet orange looks nice with your blond hair.:lmao: I threw the carrots in for michael. Not too adventurous with the vegies, but am looking forward to trying the acorn squash.

Glad you enjoyed the veggies. I frequently make extra veggies at meal time and have them for snacks.

I'm TIRED Of the snow! Another snow day here for my kids. DD's last three exams are postponed until Monday, DS's b.ball practice is cancelled, and we presume DD's swim meet is cancelled too.

I'll be back in a bit to answer the QOTD and chat.............P
