TEAM DONALD--Biggest Loser 11 Spring Team Challenge

 I wasn't going to check in here this morning because I am going to be late but I just had to share because I am so stinking excited :cool1::cool1: Down 4.5 lbs this morning!!!:yay::yay: I totally didn't see that coming! Definitely makes up for the bad week last week and the hissy fit I had earlier this week.

I might even treat myself to a few of those chips this morning or some popcorn tonight.

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Does that mean there will be no video on youtube either?
:scared1: Not unless someone has a death wish!

I put your weigh ins in the spreadsheet straight from my home email and then I go back and clear out my DIS in box to make sure I haven't forgotten to put in weigh ins in!

Friday, 1/21/11 QOTD- List some positive changes you have made or felt over the past 3 weeks. Let's all celebrate our successes so far with this challenge and inspire each other to keep on this healthy path.

This is a tough question for me. I'v been at this "lifestyle" for so long now (a bit more than 3 years!!) that the changes have really slowed down.

Got one.....

I had a small gain this morning.... somewhat unexpected. Instead of beating myself up, getting all depressed and crazy, I took a moment to think about the date and such and realized it probably is all hormonal and will be gone next week. I won't let it effect how I feel for the remainder of the day/week. I KNOW I did the right things this week (although exercise has been lacking somewhat). I ate right, I exercised (some), I drank my water, journaled all my foods, etc, etc, etc. NOTHING to beat myself up over. Pounds happen...... but today is a new day.

SO that is my change. I didn't let myself get all crazy and depressed over an unexpected gain. I'm taking it in stride and moving on.

Wish I could think of more changes.... but like I said, after 3 years there aren't changes happening every day/week. At this point I am trying to maintain the changes I've made over the past few years.

On another note..... if you are a praying type of person, please pray for DH. He had an appointment to take his cast off today and I decided we wouldn't go because it is snowing. He didn't like that idea so he went anyhow. So he is driving, 90 minutes (probably more in this weather) in snow up a terrible highway with one hand. I was very torn, but decided NOT to go with him. If something were to happen or he had a wreck or even just got stuck in the snow, there would be NO ONE here for the kids.

I told him that I love him, but I'm mad at him for making this decision to drive in the snow and that he wouldn't DIE from having to wear the cast another few days. He went anyhow. So I'll be scrapbooking and praying for the next several hours. Hopefully it will clear by the time he needs to head home (supposed to clear by 1pm-ish). Stubborn Swedish man!!:headache:

That's it for me for now!! Talk to you all later.....................P

I also started doing something called giving myself credit. I jot down things I did that were helpful to my weight loss. We spend so much time beating ourselves up over mistakes we make that we don't give ourselves credit for what we do right. For example, today I gave myself credit because someone brought banana bread into the faculty room and I said "no thanks". The old me would have had to have a slice (or two). I did an activity with hershey bars with my kids today (teaching fractions of the whole bar) and I didn't eat any! I gave myself credit for walking on the treadmill, too.

This is awesome! :thumbsup2 I used to give myself a "star" every time I had a good day. I actually had a sheet of those foil star stickers and I stuck one on my calander every time I met my goals for the day :rotfl: I can see why stuff like that works for kids in school because it totally made me happy to see all of those stars on my calander :goodvibes

I volunteered to help at the high school tomorrow passing out their monthly incentive at lunch. Chili's Chips and Salsa!
thflaminghead-runner.gif
What the heck was I thinking? I absolutely LOVE their chips and salsa.

The dreaded chips and salsa :scared1: Seems like everyone has a weakness for them. But you did an awesome job before when you skipped them at the mexican restaurant and you can do it again! :cheer2:

Crudmonkeys, did I just say I was "excited" about trying exercise? :faint:

:rotfl: Its always exciting to try something new, even if it really isn't something exciting. I usually get excited about how awesome I know I will feel when I finish it.

Friday, 1/21/11 QOTD- List some positive changes you have made or felt over the past 3 weeks. Let's all celebrate our successes so far with this challenge and inspire each other to keep on this healthy path.

I feel like I am just really paying more attention to what I do to my body, both eating and exercise. I am noticing how I feel when I do or don't work out. I am taking the time to think about if I am really hungry or just bored and I am paying more attention while I eat and stopping when I feel full. I still have bad days, but on those days, I notice that I don't feel as good as I do when I have good days, so it helps keep me on track.

 I wasn't going to check in here this morning because I am going to be late but I just had to share because I am so stinking excited :cool1::cool1: Down 4.5 lbs this morning!!!:yay::yay:

Awesome work!

Saying a prayer for him right now.

Good morning everyone! I had a lovely surprise on the scale today. I wasn't really expecting a loss because I felt like I didn't have a very good week. I didn't get in as much working out as I would have liked and I had a couple of pretty bad eating days. However, I work up to find a 2.6 lb loss :cool1:
On an even more exciting note, that puts me less than 10 lbs from the day I get to start planning my Hawaii vacation :woohoo: And I decided yesterday that I am going to start giving myself rewards for every 5 lb so for this week...I am going to make an appointment to get a massage. :yay: Next 5 pounds will be a pedicure. Then...trip planning! :woohoo:

So...do you burn calories by shivering? I think that may be why I still had a loss this week...it has been sooo cold here! This morning when I got to my office it was 52 degrees...in my office :scared1: Granted, that is 70 degrees warmer than it was outside (-18 when I left for work ), but really? Is 52 an acceptable indoor temperature? The whole office is wearing hats and gloves at their desks and it is pretty hard to type with gloves on :lmao:

Hope you all have a warm, happy day!

beth

I posted this to all three threads, but when I came back here to Donald, it wasn't here... So, let's try that again...

Howdy folks! :wave2:

There seems to be some confusion about when we will be measuring for WIN. Although we did measure every three weeks during the Fall Challenge, the schedule for the Spring Challenge is every FOUR weeks, as follows:

January 28
February 25
March 25
April 22
May 20

Those of you who have done your measurements this week, I'm happy to use them for Jan 28 if you choose not to measure again. Just let me know.

Happy Friday, y'all! :goodvibes

This sounds so simple, but the biggest change is the weight loss and taking care of myself. I have really focused on what I have been putting in my body for the past three weeks and that feels great!

QOTD:

1 - self control with food - healthy choices, counting everything

2 - self discipline - exercise as a habit, not a thought!

3 - checking in here - thanks, guys, you help a lot :lovestruc

Hey, just so you know, I forget who said this, but someone jogged a quarter of a mile during their walk and so I thought I'd try it. Harder than I thought, but I did it! And today, I'm down 3 pounds WITH full blown PMS.

Everybody have a safe day in the snow.

Hello Team Mickey and Team Donald!

Let's talk coaching! I have the following spots still available. We are filling through the end of March, with the thought still being that we will merge in April. I have already had offers from some of the regulars to coach a second week, but I would love to see a couple of new people step up and give coaching a try.

It's only a one week period. You do not have to repond to every post, but just work to be as supportive as possible, and of course you need to post a QOTD. Having said all that if you are interested, please pm me with the week you would like to coach AND as always your TEAM NAME. If you have any questions, I will be happy to answer them, or you can pm donac or flipflopmom. Thanks in advance!

Team Mickey openings:
2/18--2/24
3/4--3/10

Team Donald openings:
3/4--3/10
3/18--3/24
3/25--3/31

Thanks for the prayers. He made it there safely and is on his way home now. THe snow has stopped and the sun is shining, so the ride home should be no problem.

Nice LOSS!! Trip planning.... I'm so ENVIOUS! And YES, you can lose weight from shivering.... and being cold burns more calories than being a comfortable temperature.:woohoo:

Well friends, I haven't done any scrapping yet. I got to my scrap area and decided it needed a good cleaning. I keep it fairly well organized, but I was able to do a bit of rearranging and dusting and tweaked it a bit. Nice feeling... but now it's time to get creating!..................P

Had a good morning. I did end up having a serving of chips, but it was just one and I have accounted for it within my daily plan. And believe me those chips did NOT taste as good as loosing 4 pounds feels so I had no problems not eating more. I also declined all offers to bring home one of the huge leftover bags--DH would have killed me!

But apparently our grill just died a horrible death. We grill out at least 3-4 times a week so this is worse than the oven breaking. We just had to buy a new refrigerator last weekend and now a new grill. This is going to hurt-- spending the money and having to go grill shopping with DH:headache:.

:goodvibes Great attitude! And I think that is a very important one that we all need to remember.

Prayers for your DH. MEN! :sad2: Let us know when he is home safe.

 Great to hear, but sorry about the PMS. :flower3:

Friday, 1/21/11 QOTD- List some positive changes you have made or felt over the past 3 weeks. Let's all celebrate our successes so far with this challenge and inspire each other to keep on this healthy path.

Increasing our vegetable intake has been a huge positive for the overall health of my entire family. :lovestruc

Meeting and getting to know so many great people here :hyper2:

Sad to say I have to post a gain this week for the team. Sorry guys. At least it is only .4 gain though. I don't know if it was missed exercise, eating or possibly the fact I AF this week. I know one day I napped was probably low iron based on my food tracking it could make sense. Not feeling too down over the gain because I know I'm building muscle even if it seems my stamina hasn't improved more with exercise. I moved on to level 2 on 30 Day Shred those push ups on level 1 has got me able to stay in the plank longer for sure. :woohoo: Some was easier some was really hard for me to do due to my body shape.

Healthy Habits weren't the greatest because of missed workouts and not having much fruit in the house. I still managed 4 days each on exercise and fruit eating if I count tomatoes as a fruit. I had oranges and some blueberries Zoe must have forgotten about because she hasn't had any from this 2 packs so far. I'm saving the other half of the 2nd one for her after school snack today. She requested to bring her lunch this morning because she does not like the nasty slooppy joes they make. She likes my version but not the schools. So she took left over Totinos from last night with an apple, edamame(kid loves it) and a few sliced cucumbers/tomatoes that were left from last night. Oh and raisins(if she gets her snack time) and a few teddy grams as a treat. Big lunch but she usually come home starving at least I know she likes these things and will eat them. We are eating a strict budget the next week and half so it has to do because the Totinos were .69 a piece and you just can't beat a meal for 3 under 4 bucks(when i calculate the use of the produce and dressing in our salad). We cook 3 for the 3 of us and usually have a little leftover.

Today's eating has been decent for lunch anyway. I had half a can of tuna with the lime and a tablespoon my olive oil/vinegar dressing paired with 2 slices of Earthgrain bread and a big salad. I had filled in an orange this morning that I never went and got(3 small slices of cold Totinos breakfast was more than enough after my wake up Mt Dew) so having that with lunch. Just drinking water the rest of the day like usual. :goodvibes That dairy is going to be tough for this weeks HH. Does ice cream count? :lmao: ice cream and cheese are my main dairy sources. :guilty: I don't drink cow's milk because of taste and mild lactose intolerance. Ice cream will get me too but I deal with it. I usually get calcium from sesame seeds on my salad but I ran out. Gotta buy some more next big grocery trip to the farmers market store, I wish whole foods was closer. I should plan trips twice a month or something my best friend's mom works there and I think she gets a discount but I'm not sure. It's just a longer drive away. I have a couple Trader Joe's that I wish were closer as well. :(

Okay enough me. I'll update with some personals in a few. I've slacked on eating my lunch.

:yay:for all the good weigh-ins that are being reported for Team Donald!
I'll add mine...down 2.5 this week! Only 1 more pound of extra Holiday weight to take off. I don't know why I lose weight so slowly...argpirate:

Oh, I forgot to add that while I was at the mall tonight I was killing time in Borders and broke down and bought this Shred you have all been talking about. I am a go with the crowd kind of gal! It was on sale for $12 so I figured what the heck. I probably won't get to even take a look at it until Monday because I am not even going to attempt it with the family around!

I will have to see how much of it I can adapt if it is too hard on my feet and hip, but I am excited to try. Crudmonkeys, did I just say I was "excited" about trying exercise? :faint:

Welcome to the Shred Club!!! Do what you can and build up from there. I honestly did not think I would ever do it again after the first time but it was easier the second time and I WILL continue to do it! Hope you were able to avoid the chips or maybe just enjoy a few;)

I'm very happy with the move to the new house and new job

:)

1. I bought a food scale and am reading labels, weighing portions and checking the internet for calorie counts!

2. I am logging my food intake along with the calorie count if I can find it!

3. I bought 3 exercise videos and have done 2 of them twice in addition to my already estab. exercise routine!

Down 4.5 lbs this morning!!!

 I'm SO JEALOUS !!!! Great job!

I'm off to Ft Drum for a week of military leave. (brrrr......!!!) I'll try to keep up each night.
Jude

Enjoy the week! Good luck!

I had a lovely surprise on the scale today. I wasn't really expecting a loss because I felt like I didn't have a very good week. I didn't get in as much working out as I would have liked and I had a couple of pretty bad eating days. However, I work up to find a 2.6 lb loss Hope you all have a warm, happy day!beth

:cool1: But, next time please tell me you worked you a$$ off for that loss!:lmao: I am going to guess you are MUCH younger than me and have a nice high metabolism!:goodvibes Hope you managed to stay warm today:goodvibes

Phew! That is great news! And, I assume he has 2 hands to drive back with:woohoo:

Thanks to all for the hugs and sympathy for DH's aunt. We don't have to travel back to the US. It is just a modest ceremony for the immed family only in Fla and then later in the year the ashes will be buried in Penn along with her husband whose ashes have not yet been buried since he died last Spring. We are still in shock, she was much healthier than DH's parents and had no health problems, not overweight. Had a stroke. We are guessing the stress of caring for her sick husband for many years or stress from being on her own.

We got DS on the bus to go snowboarding with his BS troop this weekend and he said his Trig exam was "easy" and he did "great"...I guess we will see. I hope DH and I do something fun this weekend...he never makes any plans for us and I get tired of making all the plans!

Have a great weekend Donalds!!!

Will do! But now that I think about it, I actually got 7 work-outs in...I skipped 2 days, but on 2 other days I worked out twice...so I guess I did kind of work for it :)

Down 4 pounds for me too!! :woohoo::woohoo:

Happy Friday! I think my greatest positive change is my overall attitude. By finding a goal (Princess Half Marathon 2012 princess:) I see a light at the end of my tunnel! While I will celebrate every little step (3 lbs this week!) I know that there is a bigger goal: TO BE HEALTHY and my celebration will be at the marathon. While I nurse my ribs I will continue to treadmill (dr said it was ok if not too intense) and add some stretching to help my recovery. I feel good about the decisions I have made about my food and exercise so far this year and will continue to reach for the stars :wizard:

I hope everyone had great WI today! Love ya Donalds! :donald:
