I also started doing something called giving myself credit. I jot down things I did that were helpful to my weight loss. We spend so much time beating ourselves up over mistakes we make that we don't give ourselves credit for what we do right. For example, today I gave myself credit because someone brought banana bread into the faculty room and I said "no thanks". The old me would have had to have a slice (or two). I did an activity with hershey bars with my kids today (teaching fractions of the whole bar) and I didn't eat any! I gave myself credit for walking on the treadmill, too.
This is awesome!

I used to give myself a "star" every time I had a good day. I actually had a sheet of those foil star stickers and I stuck one on my calander every time I met my goals for the day

I can see why stuff like that works for kids in school because it totally made me happy to see all of those stars on my calander
I volunteered to help at the high school tomorrow passing out their monthly incentive at lunch. Chili's Chips and Salsa!
What the heck was I thinking? I absolutely LOVE their chips and salsa.
The dreaded chips and salsa

Seems like everyone has a weakness for them. But you did an awesome job before when you skipped them at the mexican restaurant and you can do it again!
Crudmonkeys, did I just say I was "excited" about trying exercise?

Its always exciting to try something new, even if it really isn't something exciting. I usually get excited about how awesome I know I will feel when I finish it.
Friday, 1/21/11 QOTD- List some positive changes you have made or felt over the past 3 weeks. Let's all celebrate our successes so far with this challenge and inspire each other to keep on this healthy path.
I feel like I am just really paying more attention to what I do to my body, both eating and exercise. I am noticing how I feel when I do or don't work out. I am taking the time to think about if I am really hungry or just bored and I am paying more attention while I eat and stopping when I feel full. I still have bad days, but on those days, I notice that I don't feel as good as I do when I have good days, so it helps keep me on track.
Awesome work!
On another note..... if you are a praying type of person, please pray for DH. He had an appointment to take his cast off today and I decided we wouldn't go because it is snowing. He didn't like that idea so he went anyhow. So he is driving, 90 minutes (probably more in this weather) in snow up a terrible highway with one hand. I was very torn, but decided NOT to go with him. If something were to happen or he had a wreck or even just got stuck in the snow, there would be NO ONE here for the kids.
Saying a prayer for him right now.
Good morning everyone! I had a lovely surprise on the scale today. I wasn't really expecting a loss because I felt like I didn't have a very good week. I didn't get in as much working out as I would have liked and I had a couple of pretty bad eating days. However, I work up to find a 2.6 lb loss

On an even more exciting note, that puts me less than 10 lbs from the day I get to start planning my Hawaii vacation

And I decided yesterday that I am going to start giving myself rewards for every 5 lb so for this week...I am going to make an appointment to get a massage.

Next 5 pounds will be a pedicure. Then...trip planning!
So...do you burn calories by shivering? I think that may be why I still had a loss this week...it has been sooo cold here! This morning when I got to my office it was 52 degrees...in my office

Granted, that is 70 degrees warmer than it was outside (-18 when I left for work

), but really? Is 52 an acceptable indoor temperature? The whole office is wearing hats and gloves at their desks and it is pretty hard to type with gloves on
Hope you all have a warm, happy day!
