A friend of my Mom's told her that she could go to Disney for free because she is a teacher. I said that I was pretty sure that's not true since I've never heard of it before.

So is it true or not?

Definitely not true!

However, when there are group sales in the Youth programs there are a certain percentage of free tickets for chaperones. So if a class of 20 went as a group, there would be two free tickets.

And the Swan and Dolphin will give discounts to teachers.

I wish!!!!

The discounts at the Swan and Dolphin are probably the closest you'll find.

I was in Orlando two years ago for a conference where I met an employee of Disney. She said she was an employee and so did her name tag. She told me Disney would admit teachers to Epcot for free. She had no details but told me to call the park

However, when I called - and I don't remember what numbers/people - no one had ever heard of such a thing.

When I found myself with an extra day due to space shuttle launch delay, I went to Disney - but I paid just like everyone else :)

I haven't heard of that, either.
OP- just wanted to add that I love that little pin under your user name :thumbsup2

My cousin is a teacher in Florida and came to meet us when we were at WDW last month. I think she mentioned that teachers in FL either get free or reduced admission, I don't remember which one.

I would go down to Orlando every summer and just live out of my car if this were true.

There was one year, long ago(I'm thinking at least 15 years ago), when we were at Disney that I got into Epcot for free. It was limited to one day and that was the only park. Haven't heard of anything recently.

If this WAS true, I would live in Disney the whole summer!!!! And come right back, the week school starts!!! :rotfl2:

they have offered free entance to Epcot at times...all three of my sisters are teachers & went on a trip together one year...they all got into Epcot for free one day.

lol I thought so. I better tell my mom to tell her that is she shows up with her husband on his birthday she isn't getting in for free. lol

I wish it was true!!

In Europe teachers get reduced admission to some places (not DLP!) like the Colusseum in Rome which annoyed my husband. He'd be gutted if teachers did get in for free, as I'd only ever go to Disney on holiday!

Last year I found a page from a magazine in my files that advertised free admission to EPCOT for teachers for one day. It was from the 1990's. That is no longer offered. There was a thread a while back about free stuff that teachers could get in the parks for their classes, though.

Neat that there have occasionally been times when teachers got into Epcot free of charge!
I remember back in the days when Epcot had a teachers resource area where you could go and pick up all kinds of teaching tools/information about the Epcot/WDW rides and attractions. That was very cool!

With Epcot no longer quite as interested in being educational I'm betting we won't see the likes of free entrance for teachers ever again.

In the early 90's Epcot offered an educator pass. It did not include parking. Nothing has been offered since then.

The only teacher discounts in the area are free educator passes for Sea World, parking not included, free admission to Universal Studios and Islands of adventure until 7/30 - with family passes for 79.99 until 7/30, and entrance into KSC. From time to time the science museum is also free for teachers, but not right now.
