Teachers, educators and parents who can't do the 2010 podcast cruise

Would you be interested in a Universal/RCCL Land / Sea Podcast Cruise?

  • Yes, definately

  • Possibly, if the price is right

  • Probably not, but I could be convinced

  • No way - I'm a "Disney Only" person

Ok, I have a very important question.... If the 12/2010 cruise is being called 2.0 what will this one be? 1.5?

We have not been to either WDW or Universal in Orlando yet... but I am sure the 3 weeks Disney and Hard Rock Hotel will not disappoint.

But already I am making good headway on the suggestion that we need to come back around the same time in 2010 :thumbsup2

I think this would be awesome and I voted for possibly Pete :)

Remember if you are staying onsite-FOTL!! No waiting in line, you can hit the parks for a few hours and get it all done and then sit by the pool!

You said it Puck! Universal is a totally different experience than Disney. The FOTL thing changes everything; especially in the Summer. You can get through the parks so much quicker. the price of the resort is made up by getting FOTL during your stay.

Also keep in mind that if you're staying on site at Universal, regardless of the time of year, you get front-of-the-line access to all the attractions. That's such huge perk-especially during the summer months.
It has been so long since I've been to Universal that I totally forgot about this! Thanks Squishy, Aaron, and Pete for setting me straight. What if I don't want kids on the ship but want to bring them to the park?
Summer Podcast cruise 1.0.
Gotta be 1.5 --- Summer 1.0 is too confusing. People would try to shorten it and it would get lost with the first one. Excellent point Carol1234!

Pete, I love this idea! We've never been to Universal, but we'd love to try it. Plus my ds is in high school, so it's hard to take him out of school with the workload and his activities. My dh can't take vacation in Nov. or Dec either.

Thanks for thinking of us difficult kids!:)

I voted that I would definitely be interested. That December date clashes with the last week of school before Christmas and I have to be up at the school all that week as a band uniform mom. Those summer dates would work so that I could bring the entire family, which is a big plus! Thanks for the possibility Pete!

From possibly if the price is right to definitely!!!!

Talked with my DH about it today. Of course I had to explain AGAIN about the DISpeople and DISpodcast people. I think he is still a little confused:rotfl2:

Anyway, he is in!!! That means it is a GO for my family of four!!!!

I look forward to learning more!!!!
Thanks again Pete for looking into this!!!!

OK, I voted that we might be interested, but let me ask y'all a question. We have never cruised before and I have always been holding out for a Disney cruise - at least in my mind I have. So, would RCCL be a disappointment?

I get the price difference, which is huge. But would people walk away and say "well, that was OK, but it was no Disney cruise - Disney is so far superior"? Is there a different answer with just adults in the party vs. families?

I guess what I am really trying to gauge is, yes the cost is less, but is the experience also significantly less?

BTW, thanks Pete for hearing the minority of us who cannot go during school times...it is much appreciated!

To be completely honest, I was thinking of this myself. I much rather go on a Disney cruise, but if they are unwilling to budge with the summer prices (even despite the upcoming podcast cruises they have), then I might budge myself and go with RCCL.

I am 100% anti-Universal. I've been there before and have no desire to go back. However, I did say I wanted to go for the Harry Potter land. That'd satisfy me enough and we could hit Disney a few days before it all begins.

Isn't spending time with us enough to convince you even if it is Universal :flower3: Just think, you could show Kevin your phone in person!

I might do this. I will want to go to Universal when Harry Potter opens. The only drawback will be the weather at that time of the year.

Oh, believe me. This will be 100% for the podcast and crew! And yes, I plan on showing Kevin my phone in person. :lmao:

Same here!!! We would be first timers too. I was holding out for DCL too, but I also don't have a sack of extra money either. The more I learn about RCCL and Universal I am getting more excited about the possibilities. That front of the line access sounds great and quite honestly I probably wouldn't have given any thought to staying on Universal property until now.

I think I will still use my DVC in April and do the PC1.5 in July!!! Perfect!!!!
I like your idea of adding on a few WDW days to the beginning of the cruise, why not end with a few too.:)

July or August would be perfect for us and my kids love US and IOA! We have school from after Labor Day until the last Friday of June, so the only dates we would be available would be July or August. :cool2:

I think they are leaning towards July. I think hurricane season is in August???

This is the first thing that I thought about when I read the original post. FOTL access makes all the difference in the world!!!

My mom and I would be very interested in a summer podcast cruise. We've been wanting to visit Universal for quite some time, and a Disney cruise just would not be in the budget with going to Italy as well. :thumbsup2

How awesome is that Simon!!!!!

Although summer is typically busy for us, I could probably swing a week in the middle....just gotta get a date to start working with.

Patience padawan, patience.

It might be some work but I might be able to talk DH into this. I think if there was a good rate that included the Hard Rock Hotel I might be able to make it work.

I am most scared of the weather. I would love to just hang at the HRH pool all day. I love that pool!

I can't wait to hear more.
