Tea aboard?

My family doesn’t do coffee... But we do enjoy a good green, oolong, or really any non-black tea. Is there any information to be had on the tea selection onboard?

There are tea packets at the drink stations with hot water dispensers. You can create your own there. Hopefully someone can verify but I think they have some Twinnings options at the self serve.

In the dining rooms you can order hot tea and they have the same teas and usually a few nicer options to choose from. At the dinner you will generally find the standards - Green, Early grey, chamomile, breakfast teas and a few others. There are a few tea drinks available at the cove if I am recalling correctly.

Thanks, yes - knowing the tea brand can also help. My wife is actually considering bringing some tea aboard too. :)

Lol - you guys sound like DH and I. I love tea and drink it as my caffeine of choice exclusively. Our trip is British Isles so we will be buying some tea in London to bring on board. I’m with you - bring the good stuff. Twinnings doesn’t do it for me.

The Magic had PG Tips, an English tea, on our Northern Europe cruise. I’m sure we’ll have at least that brand, plus maybe more, on our British Isles cruise, too. I would expect some Irish teas, maybe a Scottish blend? I plan to pick up some Lyons and Bewleys teas while in Ireland to bring home. Maybe also some English teas I can’t easily buy in the US, too. ☕

They do have different loose teas in Cove Cafe (extra cost, however).

DCL used to have the Art of Tea in the dining rooms (my mother loves their mountain berry tea) - does anyone know if that's still true?

thanks.

At the beverage station on deck 9, it was Twinings tea on our Magic Northern European cruise on 8/9/18. A mix of the various pics @PrincessShmoo has. During our cruise, my kids had the English breakfast, I had the lemon ginger and the blackcurrant. They had both regular and decaf Earl Grey, but only regular English breakfast in that location. I did see those green teas that were in the pic, a regular chai, and some other herbals.

I found myself hooked on the Prince of Wales Twinings teabags up on deck nine. It's not part of the normal rotation in the MDR, so I would snag an extra bag for dinner. My assistant server would bring me a cup of hot water with my dessert every evening. He always offered to find some of the PoW tea, but I always refused - he's doing enough things to pamper me without running around the ship trying to find something that I can easily bring in.

This is one thing you can bring on board that you don't have to bubblewrap, check the volume of each container or switch luggage at check-in. If the choices above don't work, bring your own. And if your Happy Hour starts at 8am...nothing wrong with that. Enjoy...

Outside of the included Twinning teas...

Cove Cafe has a nice selection. It's not included but it's really good. :)

Mountain Berry tea was my favorite too. I’d have a couple of cups every night with dessert. Unfortunately, the dining rooms replaced the Art of Tea with Twinings a couple years ago.

I drink only herbal teas as I can't do caffeine. From what I see, there doesn't seem to be a big enough selection for me, so I'll bring some of my own on my cruise.

My wife was so disappointed when they took her mountain berry tea away. She went online and found it somewhere and bought a hundred bags. Then she took her own stash on board for after dinner tea each night.

Even if you bring it onboard with you, you should consider NOT taking any unused off of the ship at the end of your cruise. Might cause some problems (thousands of dollars worth) with the Department of Agriculture. But you should check the rules / laws to be sure.

We wanted to buy some spices when we were in Grenada several years ago, but decided against it because we thought there might be issues taking it off of the ship in Puerto Rico or back to the mainland.
