TCKK Family August 2008 Trip Report Part 2

Hi everyone!

We've got power back!!!! Who would've thought that southern Ohio would have problems with a hurricane!!:lmao:

Thanks everyone for your thoughts and prayers for us. The Lord was good! Our electrc came back on about an hour go. It appears that everything here is fine and working well. Hey, we even got a clean fridge and freezer out of the deal. :rotfl: We did loose a small amount of food, but nothing to worry about.

Take care and we'll be back soon for more of the report. Again, thanks for caring about us.

Cathy

A surprising early morning check-in! Usually it's just me, Gmax, and Charleston Princess on this early.

I Dis as I get ready in the morning
-take a shower, Dis a little.
-do my hair, Dis a little
-iron my clothes, Dis a little
-fix my lunch, check on the Dis once more before heading out!

Anyway, it's good to hear from you, and I know you have to be very excited to get power back! We have never lost power for very long here, and certainly not for days. I'm glad you made it through everything okay. Have a great day!

Yeah, you have power !!! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:
I'm sure it was hard to be away from the DIS.
Good to hear you didn't have to throw away alot of food. :dance3:
The worst we have had here is an ice storm and we just put the food in the snow bank. ;)
I wish none of us had to deal with bad weather. Only sunny days.

On Saturday, Kerri and I got up early and Tracy and Kelli slept in. Kerri and I went down to swim and do laundry. Unfortunately, I had to wait on washers and dryers, so I never got to swim, but Kerri had fun. At first there were a few others swimming, but then it started raining some, but there was no lightening so Kerri kept swimming. At one point I stepped out to check on her and she was in the pool completely alone. She loved it!!

My camera was steamed up from being in the cold room and then coming out into the heat.

Anyway, we finished the laundry and then we all decided to have lunch at POP. Here are a few more random pics of POP. I love taking pictures here.

That’s it for this day. We headed back to POP and probably swam (I can’t remember for sure) and called it a night.

Great pictures. You seemed to have seen so much in a short amount of time. I can't wait to read more. I didn't get Buzz's face when I took hi picture.

We did get quite a bit done that day. I'm not sure why that pic came out, cause mine are usually just like everyone else's just a white blur.

I am so glad all of you are safe. I hope you get power soon. Stay stafe.

Peggy

Thanks Peggy. We're all good here. We lost our cable last night because the wire snapped, but they fixed it today even though they had indicated it might be next Friday before it was fixed.

It's good to hear that all is well, even if it is somewhat inconvenient. We're near a hospital, so I guess we have super-duper power lines here. We are lucky that they rarely go out. We had some high winds Sunday, and Trent said it was pretty crazy in Louisville, too.

We'll look forward to hearing from you when all is back to normal, and I hope you don't have to do without power for very long! Times like this sure make us quickly appreciate all the days we do have power and everything is normal.

My family all have their power back and only minor damage (shingles off some of their roofs. We are so thankful. God has been really good to us. The weather has been great this week, so it wasn't bad not having air conditioning. We haven't had rain, so no one had flooded basements because their sump pumps wouldn't work without electric. Most everyone in the area is back on now and things are returning to normal. Except I think most of us appreciate our electric a little more today than we did last week at this time. :)

Thoughts and prayers to all the lives that Ike has effected.:grouphug:

I agree, so many peoples lives were affected by Ike and they need our prayers.

What a wonderful update!

My prayers are with your and your friends and all those that were in Ike's path. I hope you get your electricity restored soon, and others can begin the cleanup and repairs.

I'm glad you enjoyed our update and thank you for your prayers.

Glad to hear you are all safe. Hope the power comes back soon. pixiedust:

It was only out for a little over 3 days. That's not too bad.

Thanks Memom!

Glad to know everything is ok with you guys.

Thanks Pooksma. Hey my next update will be Sunday the 10th. I wonder who we met that day? Who's going to get this posted first, You, Nicole or me?

Yeah, you have power !!! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

That would be awesome wouldn't it. But as I said above, I'm so thankful after the windstorm, we've had really great weather which made everything else bearable.

Again, thanks everybody for your thoughts and prayers and for caring about us. I truly enjoy being part of this big DIS family!! :grouphug:

The hurricane also hit us in Illinois and Indiana. My house had no problems, but in areas around us the flooding has been terrible. So many people have lost everything to floods. Luckily no one has died. There was house about 3 miles from us that blew up. The gas company had now way to shut the gas off because of the flood.

I am happy your electricity is back on.

I agree with you , who would have thought that a hurricane could do this much damage in the Midwest.

I didn't realize there was flooding up this far in the midwest. As far as I know we haven't had anything like that around here. I'm so glad you guys are okay.

I love the future picture so funny! lol! Thanks for the GF art store pictures I love disney art!!

The pictures of your resort hopping were great. One of my favorite things is to go to the GF and just sit and listen to the music. I also enjoyed the EPCOT picture.

That's what we did. We found a quiet place upstairs and sat and just enjoyed the music and atmosphere. They have the most comfy couches to sit in. I called my mom from there and talked to her and we just relaxed while the girls shopped. It really was nice. :)

Resort hopping is so much fun! I love the Lady & Tramp painting - so pretty!

Cool picture! How nice to have the pool all to yourself for a little while.

Just think what this picture would have looked like taken from the fourth floor.

I like all the shopping pictures. I'd love to have a bunch of those big figurines like the Beauty and the Beast one you showed. Mickey and Minnie at the Eiffel Tower is nice. I bet it had a nice (high) price tag, though.

She loved having the pool to herself. Kerri loves Paris and she's the one that took that picture.

One more thing occurred on Saturday. While we were in the shop at Pop Century, I ran into Pop Century Princess who is a cast member there. She was very sweet. She says she reads the boards a lot still, but no longer posts very often. She received so many questions that she was unable to answer them all so now she mostly just lurks. She asked me to say “Hi” to everyone. Hi Pop Century Princess, I hope you’re reading this.

We got up and got ready and then headed to DHS. I can’t remember what we did for breakfast but it was probably just pop tarts or peanut butter crackers and then we hopped a bus and headed on over. We did not make nor even try to make rope drop.

Here’s Kerri in the room getting things together to take with her.

And here’s Kelli getting ready
IMG_1119.jpg

Guess what the first thing was that we headed to. You got it, Toy Story Mania. Let me just say we loved, loved, loved this ride. Outside the entrance, inside the queue and the ride itself were all awesome!!!
IMG_1120.jpg

IMG_1121.jpg

Standby was 70 minutes, but we got fastpasses for later and stood in line now to make sure we got to ride it. I didn’t mind the wait at all because I enjoyed the queue area so much (at least the 1st time). I wouldn’t want to have to wait that long every time we ride it though.

IMG_1124.jpg

Candy Land and Checkers were a theme in the first area. The checkerboard was on the ceiling and candyland was on the floor and walls

IMG_1159.jpg

That’s all I have from this round of Toy Story Mania. Except to say, I won, I won!!!!! :cool1: Yeah!!!!!! (I have to brag, because I definitely did not win the next time around. lol)

More to come this weekend as this is just the beginning of this great day. Does anyone remember what happened on August 10?
