Taxi from MK to resort after wishes?

What is it like getting a taxi from MK after Wishes? Easy or am I crazy for even considering it?

Not to ask the obvious, but why wouldn't you just take the resort bus/monorail/water launch (as appropriate) back to your resort?

There is no taxi stand at the MK, its actually over at the TTC. You'd be better off walking over to the Contemporary to catch a cab from there.

The only way I can convince my husband to do the Wishes dessert party and stay for the fireworks, is if we take a cab back. The crowds when the park is closing and then the line waiting for the bus turned him off so much our first trip that he wants to leave the parks before dark.

It gives him anxiety bad, and can turn a great day into something awful.

I don't mind leaving the park early most times, but I would really like to do one firework show.

There is no taxi stand at the MK, its actually over at the TTC. You'd be better off walking over to the Contemporary to catch a cab from there.

I disagree.

We've taken a taxi back after Illuminations at Epcot (on New Year's Eve) to AKL.

We were on an Illuminations Cruise on Breathless (not offered as of now), and we just went out front of the YC and got a taxi - less than $20 later and 15 minutes we were at AKL.

I'd say walk to CR and then hail a taxi - in 15 minutes you'll be at your resort. May be much faster than the bus (they get so crowded after fireworkds).

Depending on your resort, it's probably in the <$20 range.

We've done it a few other times, at the end of the night.

We use both buses and taxis because there are times when a taxi is more convenient or works better for our plans. If crowds stress your DH, then by all means, take a taxi. They are available outside all the parks and resorts, although at the MK the taxis are at the TTC so we find it easier to walk over to the CR. Typically they cost no more than $20 per ride.

I see what you are saying, but we are planning in our budget taxi fares. For us it is just better to go this route.

My DH and I totally agree that at times a taxi is worth the cost. If that is what it takes for him to be comfortable and you to enjoy the show and desserts then by all means do it.

My DH refuses to take DME to our resort when we fly. He always wants a car service so that is what we do. We build it in to our budget and makes us both happy. $20-25 is a good estimate.

I'd highly recommend walking to CR and on the way there, use the Uber app to order a car. If you're not familiar with the service, google it. It's debated here on these boards, but from personal experience, I'd never take a cab again in a city that offers Uber.

While we have had a couple of occasions where we have had to ask for a taxi to be called at one or two of the mods, this has not usually been the case. There are almost always taxis at the deluxes. I suspect because of the lounges and restaurants that attract so many guests from other resorts. Bell services has a curb side desk, and can call a cab in minutes if the line of cabs has already been claimed.

There are usually cabs lined up at the Contemporary. I can imagine that at park closing the OP might not be the only one to think of taking a cab so there might be a (short) wait while they (the resort) call for more cabs.

We walked to the Cont, and took a taxi. DH did not want to be in the crowds as it was really crowded. well worth the 20.00
