Taxi at WL

Hello all, new to these boards so please bear with me. I'll be staying at the WL in Sept. and would like to spend a couple days at US. I have read all the posts I can find about using the Mears shuttle. I think I would rather use a taxi for the convenience of not having designated pickup times and having to pick up/ drop off guests at other resorts. I figure the cost should be around $80-$90 round trip from WL to US. Is that about right ? Also, I have never used a taxi in my life so how do you get one ? Will they just be waiting outside the resort or do I need to call and request one ? How about returning from US, will they be waiting or do I need to call there too ? Are there any taxi companys to stay away from ?

I know thats alot of questions but thanks for any and all help

Yes, there will be taxis outside the resort. On the rare chance there's no taxi, Bell Services will get you one - just ask. For the return trip, just go back to where you were dropped off. There'll be a taxi waiting line for people, complete with dispatcher, and a line of taxis. He or she will put you in a taxi (literally, if you need assistance).

WDW only allows Mears to pick up onsite, unless specifically prearranged by the customer. For the return trip, just make sure the taxi has a meter, that it starts at $0, and that the meter operates.
