Does anyone know what the tax rate is on meals, mainly character meals?
Trying to do some budgeting for our trip & don't want to forget Uncle Sam!!! ;)

Also do all restarurants in WDW take Traveler's Checks? I don't want to carry a lot of cash on me.

I heard something about charging items purchased to your resort, does that include character meals & other restarurants also? If so could I charge all my character meals to my room & pay in traveler's checks in the end??

Thank you!

Last September it was 6%. Seems like I have read something that they went up by 1/2 - 1% since then. I always include tax when budgeting.

Yes, you can charge character meals and other meals to your room. The little carts are the ones that you can't charge to your room. I try to charge everything back to my room that I possibly can. That helps me keep up with my budget much better AND it keeps me from needing to carry much cash.

Hope you have a GREAT trip.

Thank You! Thank you, Chellnjr!!!

You have helped alot, I will probably budget for a 8% tax just to be safe, rather be on the high end then too low ;)

That is great about charging to your room.
Then you just pay everything at the very end, right?

Thank you again for your time

Yep. You can even pay by check if you want to! That would save you the fee, if you have any, on the traveler's checks. That is what I did on my last trip because the total amount due was over the daily total allowed on my check card.

You are welcome.

Which character meals are you planning on?

Thank you again, you've been a very helpful.

As far as which character meals we are going too...
We probably went a littler over board, but it's
our first Disney trip & we are there for 13 days..so.....why not? LOL

We are going to

Cinderella Royal Table
Chef Mickey
Princess Storybook in Norway
1900 Park Faire for the Cinderella Supper
Cape May
Breakfastosaurus at Animal Kingdom
Crystal Palace

Thank you again for your help!
I can't believe our trip is getting so close.

I got counter service last week and it was taxed 6.5%. I do not see why it would be any different for a full service meal.

The current tax rate is 6.5% for all purchase including dining. If you have a party of 8 or more they will automatically add a 15% gratuity on.

Thank you!

6.5% tax isn't too bad, that is what I am use to paying in my state so I can live with it ;)

Thanks again everyone for your help!
I just love these boards
