I have been using the free version of Taxact for years without any problems.
DD's and DH work as personal care workers for our DD that is disabled. She is part of a waiver program through our state. The payments are processed through an organization in PA. The W-2 has IL (where we live) taxes taken out but there is no state ID# listed.
This year, Taxact will not allow the return to be submitted until we enter a state ID#. We have never done it in the past.
Last week I left a message for the "tax person" at the processing company and with the supervisor today.
Is this something new that we need a state ID#?
I tried the free version of Turbo Tax as well. It says that your can't electronic file without the employer's state ID number for IL.
