Does anyone know if the pricing for the character buffets includes tax? Example - Liberty Tree for dinner is $27.99, does that include tax if you are not on the dining plan? And if it doesn't include the tax, what is the tax percentage they charge?

I am trying to figure if the dining plan for next year will be economical for us.

The basic Sales Tax rate in Florida is 6.0% and is on most goods and services. The counties have an option, by vote of their residents, to add a surtax of 0.25%, 0.5%, 1.0% or 1.5% to the state rate.

Orange County, which is most of WDW has a surtax of 0.5%, so purchases (including meals) are taxed at 6.5%.

Osceola County, which has the All-Stars Resorts and Wide World of Sports in it, has a 1.0% surtax so purchases at those locations are subject to a 7.0% tax.

All prices Disney posts for just about everything is Plus Tax.

For 2008 the Dining Plan has been "improved" by lowering the price by $1.00, changing from three courses plus beverage to two courses plus beverage, and no longer including gratuity.

And tax is included in the dining plan, correct? I am figuring it out and if tax is not included in the pricing for the buffets, then it may be more economical to go with the dining plan, because it turns out pretty even when all said and done.
