I voted "other". I don't have any tatoos, but DD and DSIL do.:)

I do not have a tattoo. My religion is against such a practice and, perhaps more practically, tattoos never age well. I'm happy to be ink-free.

I am almost 40 and I have 2 tattoo's - Taz waving an American flag and rose on my ankle. Got the rose as 21st birthday gift to myself and Taz a few days after 9-11

I have a few. My BF is in the tattoo industry so I know alot of people that are tattooed

I have three and I'm 21. The mickey ears on my shoulder blade, a Torii on the other shoulder blade (click it for a picture) and a sun on my front shoulder. I have plans for at least 4-5 more. One of my best friends has one and the other has 6.

Dh and I both have alot of tattoos. We have alot of friends that are tattoo artists, so they are always around us. I have my entire back done, some on my arms, legs, and hips. I love body art. And to tattoos not aging well, when I am in my 80's I doubt I'll give a damn. :lmao:

I voted "other". I have about 1-2 laser treatments before mine is completely removed.
I'm sure you have heard that when people get them, they become addicted to them? Well, I went the polar opposite. I got mine, after waiting and wanting to get one for 12-years, then about 6 months after I got it I regretted it. So 8 years after that, I started to get it removed. It's almost gone.
Some advice for all these girls getting tats on their feet & back of necks.....it's a fad. Just like the rose on the ankle for women was in the 70s or whenever, and the anchor on the forearm for men in the 60s or whenever, and Pam Andersons barbed wire tunring into tribal bands, and the tramp stamp a few years back (sorry, no flames please, just making a point).
Oh, also, it hurts WAY more getting it taken off than it does on...costs 10X as much too. But hey, this is just my opinion. ;)

Anyone have experience with getting a tattoo over a scar? I have a scar on my right hip from a car accident several years ago. The scar has faded but is still visible and ugly. I sometimes consider getting a tattoo to make it prettier and me not so self conscious.

anyone get a tattoo over a scar? How did it work out?

I have three. One on the inside of each ankle with my childrens names and one very small one on the front of my right ankle.

I am 35 and always swore I would never get one.;)

My son has tattoos from the top of his head all the way down to the top of his feet, he is a tattoo artist, two weeks before our last trip to WDW he gave his sister a tattoo of crush on her upper are that got lot of compliments from CMs and Crush. I gave him a t-shirt a few years back that said tattoo is an art and my body is the canvas which I knew was perfect for him because its his thoughts exactly.

Well, I put that I have close friends who do, but actually it's relatives. DH has a skull on his bicep. My DB has two giant celtic ravens on his back. SIL has one as do a couple of cousins. My Uncle also has his fingers tatooed with "vini" "vidi" "vici" one word on each finger. I've also known a bunch of other people, friends, co-workers, etc. who have them. usually people I know have one or two sometimes a few more but no one who has full body art.

I don't have any. I'd like to some day but haven't found one I'd want on me forever yet. Xh has a tattoo...with my name on it...mwahaha!

I have a stingray. It is in the pelvic area because I didn't want just anyone to see it. DH wants one, but can't decide what he wants so hasn't. I am 35 and got it in my early 20's. Didn't hold up well once I had my children, however, I knew that when I put it where I put it. I got it because my father said over his dead body and he committed suicide so it was out of anger over it. I waited until I could figure out what I could live with forever, and to be honest, I still love it. I understand why I put it there, and it is fine with me. I wouldn't mind another one.

My daughter goes for her first on Tuesday. My step son-in-law is a tattoo artist. He and my step daughter own a tattoo and body piercing shop. They are both pretty heavily tattoo'd.

The only thing I had to say to my daughter was to have her tat somewhere she could hide it until she is settled in a job somewhere. She's in college right now. There is still a lot of stereotyping of people with tattoos. My step daughter has literally been followed around stores like a thief by management because of her tats. She also gets comments from people that are very annoying. Like we were having breakfast with her and my grandson and we could overhear a couple of ladies talking. They were saying something about what a cute little boy and what a shame he had such a trashy mother with the tatoos and piercings.

All three of my siblings have tatoos. I do not.

It's funny because I was the "wild" one in high school. They're all fairly conservative and my brother even studied for 6 years to become a priest (his tatoo is religious). They're all in their mid-twenties. Their tatoos are all in places that cannot usually be seen though.

I also have several aunts and uncles who got tatoos when they were in their late 30s and 40s.

I have 11 so far. My father & both grandfathers had them; my chest piece (2 WWII-sailor-tattoo-style birds) are a copy of the tattoos my paternal grandfather got in WWII. I've been a tattooed person for 10 years now; never regretted getting any of them as each has a meaning to me.

i have 2,but 1 i regret... would like to have the wolf baying at the moon on my chest removed, but i like my dolpin and free hand water band aroung my ankle.

I don't have any yet. When I graduate nursing school, I plan on getting a version of this somewhere, I just haven't decided on a good location:

DFi has two. He has a kanji symbol on one shoulderblade. He got it in Hawaii with his dad when he was 16. It looks like this:

His other tattoo is a memorial for a close friend of his that died of cystic fibrosis. They're really big into cars, and were in the same local car club. His friend had a yellow Mazda RX7 (which has a rotary engine), so he got the outline of a rotor on his other shoulder blade, with his friends initials in the middle. It's kind of small and the tattoo artist didn't do a real great job, so he wants to get it touched up soon and get "Just Breathe" added to it somehow - it's one of the slogans for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. :thumbsup2

I don't have any tattoos- never wanted any, and don't like needles. DH doesn't have any, either- he thinks they are trashy. I don't think they are, but I personally don't want one.

Several friends, both male and female, have them, and my brother has a couple. He is the only person in our family to ever get one. He has the University of Georgia "G" on his arm, and a Superman "S" also. I think they are his only ones- he got both of them within the past 3 or 4 years (he is 47).

I read this earlier and wanted to ask, but I don't want to sound as if I'm offending you in anyway at all. Does it make you sad that you'll never get to see your son's face the way he was before getting the tattoos? That's all I thought about when I read your post the other day. I would so miss seeing my son's face when I looked at him. Even the thought of trying to imagine never seeing it again brought a tear to my eye.

I'm sure you like the new look too, I'm just curious as to how it makes you feel? I honestly mean no disrespect.
