Target ponchos

ive seen many people say the ponchos in the parks are so much nicer than the dollar store ponchos. But has anyone used the Disney ponchos from Target? I think they were $5-10 last year and I already had dollar store ponchos and it was only one night so we skipped it, but I would bet money we will need nicer ones this time with a longer stay...

I have not purchased from Target. I will share that if you purchase a poncho in the parks and it tears, Disney will replace it.

I get the ones in the camping aisle in Walmart. Coleman I think? They do the job and are cheap!

Disney will replace. I had one of the clear ones, and the neck was ripping. Took it to one of the shops in MK, and no issue. BTW - still have my yellow poncho with Mickey on the back. Must be at least 10 yrs old.

Who cares how nice they are? It rains for like an hour tops, then you're going to throw it away because who wants to carry a wet poncho around all day? Then you have to try and fold it back up and they never fit back in the bag. Just get some cheapos from Rite Aid.

LoL. It's kind of Murphys Law. When you have the cheap crappy ones, it rains WAY more than those can hold up to. And if you have the nice ones, the sun is out in an hour. Last year for our MNSSHP, we had the dollar store ones. I brought extra and I'm glad I did but we were all still pretty miserable in them. It rained 90% of the night. One of the parades was cancelled but not the second one and not fireworks but the rest of the night was just soaking wet. And on our last big trip, AK closed most everything from bad storms around 1 pm... The one day of the trip that we left our strollers rain cover in the car.

I'd rather spend $10 on reusable rain gear than waste $10 on throwaways that won't hold up to a downpour. I bought this from Amazon ($9.99, shipped free w/Amazon. Prime).

The material is thicker than the cheapo ponchos but folds very small. They also won't fly up in the wind like a poncho will. I have Foodsaver resealable bags to toss them into when the rains stop. I can squeeze all of the air out of the bag to make waterproof, compact homes for them in our park bags.

Um, we don't throw ours away because they don't degrade but that's another point. What we do with any poncho - Disney, dollar store, Target, Wal Mart, whatever, is to simply take the new poncho out of the original packaging, place into a gallon Ziploc bag and then just use that for the rest of the poncho's life. There's no way to stuff a poncho into the original packaging unless you want to spend a good fifteen minutes trying to do that while it's still wet.

As far as carrying it around - the choice is up to the person using the poncho. Take the "disposable" ones and toss or take a bag and carry around with you. We choose the second option using the Ziploc bag.

Wow, I really like that! What size of ziploc would you say it folds up into - how small can you get it? (just one) I have a Mickey poncho from this year that I like fine, but my park bag is too small to hold it, and I'm still not sure what to do.

I have said before and will say again: I bought cheapo Coleman ponchos from Target (like $1.50) and don't like them: i'd rather have something sturdier and easier (for me) to handle.

I am living proof that they make childs ponchos.....luckily I am not smart enough to know how to put a picture on the computer to prove it I was packing my Disney ponchos just this afternoon after reading another thread about what they put in their park bags and I remembered I had to pack my ponchos - I had 3 rolled up in the laundry room, picked up 2 of them and packed them...........and the 3rd one fell off of the shelf behind the dryer, so the next time in there I fished it out and just for the heck of it I tried it on since I am Pooh sized and I wanted to "just make sure it fit"........well, it did but rather snug and SHORT???? What the heck I think, how could it have SHRUNK in length?? So I read the tag...CHILD PONCHO in big letters, by then I was cracking up that I could get in it at all, and got out of it without call for assistance! And the bad thing..............if I had packed that one I would have worn it if it rained not knowing it was a child size By then, I decided I probably should check the two I had packed just in case they were from my trips with kids............but never fear, they are both adult size and BOY, do they fit better

I bought Target ponchos for my brothers when they were out here, and they seemed very sturdy. Of course, they managed to come during a week when it didn't rain at all (how, I don't know) so we didn't get to test them, but I would guess they would have help up under several days of use.

I don't like the Disney ponchos at all. I have had several and they all have either ripped at the collar or at the buttons and are a pain to get on and off and the hood never seems to sit correctly so water drips onto my face.

One thing with child ponchos is how far down will they go? If a poncho stops at your waist, anything below that will get wet. You want a poncho that stops about knee height for comfort (so nothing is knocking below the knee) or just slightly lower to keep your upper thighs drier.
