So I went to Target today and the Easter merchandise was only 30% off. :confused3 I am used to seeing the candy at only 30% off right after the holiday but the other merchandise has always been 50% off. I am just checking to see if that is only the case in my area or if this is going to be the new way they handle the day after the holiday clearance.

The local Kmart here only has the candy and books on sale - all other Easter merchandise is full price still!

Ours had candy at 30%, merchandise at 50%, but of course, the books and movies I picked up from under the "50% off" sign rang up full price and they said they weren't supposed to be on sale....grrr.

The new Target that I went to on Saturday was picked pretty clean. I doubt there was much to clearance.

I was at a different Target this morning and the easter stuff was 50% off. There wasn't a ton left, but I did score some candy for dh and the kids.

The Easter merchandise was 50% off here while the candy was only 30%. I hate this new clearance system.

Yep, the candy here goes to 30%, merchandise to 50%. I hate it too! My local Target had almost no candy left anyways even on Saturday though, so I went to Wal-mart - lots of candy all at 50% off. I got about 5 bags (Kisses, Nerds, Snickers minis, etc.) for about $7.00. I use them as prizes for review games in my classroom, so I always welcome a sale!

Went bright and early this morning....50% off...all the merchandise!! Which consisted of 500 bags of plastic eggs & nothing else :lmao:

Not 1 bag of candy or a treat left!!

I love the after-holiday sale at Target. Ours was 50% off stuff, 30% off candy. I got Littlest Pet Shop, Polly Pocket, Moon Dough, two mini Lego sets, lamb craft, marshmellows, and cupcake liners. I'll go back later for the candy when it gets marked down more; but I usually buy the better stuff at 50% off, otherwise it will all be gone.

I think some Targets are shipping their stuff to other Targets; I noticed this at Christmas; one store near me had nothing while another store seemed to get more every few days. Of course, I could just be imagining it... :confused3

I also hate it, I miss the candy not going to 90% off anymore, especially since Target always was the best to have stock and go to 90% off before anyone else. CVS takes forever to get to 90% off and by then, nothing is left. Same with Walmart. It takes 3+ weeks for them to go to 90% off after a holiday.

During the Halloween 2009 clearance I saw they were testing the new pricing at some stores where candy was at a smaller discount than everything else and some stores had the old setup where everything was at the same discount. Then starting with Christmas after that, every Target I have been to changed over to the new system.

+ 1

Just some cheap toys & baking stuff left.

For those expecting big discounts on Easter merchandise at Target, you may be waiting a while, because the "next big thing" in that section of the store will be back-to-school (which, from past experience, will start appearing sometime in July).

I'm not saying the Easter stuff isn't going to be priced to move -- it just won't be moving nearly as fast as Back to School/Halloween/Christmas/Valentine's Day does (because of those holidays' close proximity to one another).

Just wanted to point out since my husband works at target and is part of the team that does the markdowns and moving the stuff as it is sold to make room for new things etc, that every Target does their own clearance stuff. They have some guidelines they follow so most stores will be similar but if one store has WAY more stuff left they may offer a bigger discount then a store that sold out of most of theirs already. And as mentioned above how fast they do this also depends on how badly they need the space for whatever they need to put their next.

I went to ours this morning and all of it - candy and general merchandise - was 50% off. I got some candy :)

everything in ours is 50% off... they need the space for outdoor party ware section stuff...
