I apologize upfront if this has been asked recently but when doing a search it didn't find anything recently on this topic.

Quick question - I think I may pick up some leapster games today while at target for a few other items. I saw the black friday ad for target and saw that all leapster games will be 15.00 - my question is this: If I pick up the leapster games today and then go to guest services Friday will they do a price adjustment? (I know their normal policy is to price adjust within 14 days of a purchase but since it is Black Friday I wasn't sure if there were special circumstances).

TIA

Can you let me know where in the ad it says that about the Leapster games? I don't see it and my kids want a new game for theirs.

I asked at my target when I was shopping there yesterday and was told that yes, anything within 14 days can be price-adjusted. Plus, while I was wandering the toy aisles I noticed that the leapster games are already on sale to $19.99, so a big of savings right off the bat.

I did this a couple years ago, before I knew about the black friday ads being posted early. I bought something and then on Friday it ws 50% off. I went back with my receipt and they said they couldn't adjust the price for black friday pricing. I said OK and brought the item to the store, said I wanted to return it. Then I bought it again at the new price. I told the lady it would have been a lot easier if she would have just adjusted the price. Would have saved us both time. But anyway, I got the sale price and I was happy. Had it been a small amount I wouldn't have done it but it was like $30 or something. Worst case scenario just return it and buy it again.

I can't seem to get a straight answer either. When I went today to pick up the Star Wars lego set the register clerk said yes I can price adjust but the customer service clerk said no. No where on their price adjust policy posted in the store excludes black friday.

Has anyone done this recently and been successful?

Targets corp. policy is for price adjuments up till 14 days.

I have done this in the past years. I have also done this in Walmart.

Now a little ot I was at Walmart last night and the store manager was telling people to buy things now and come back on Friday to get the money back on the bf deals

I spoke with a Target lead, last night and was told...

While the 14-day price adjustment holds true on most of Target's merchandise, they will not do price adjustments on anything appearing in the "2-Day Sale" (Black Friday) ad.

IMO, this is done mainly to get people in the stores and spending their money on November 28 (as Target had a disappointing nationwide 25% drop in sales, last month).

I agree. I also think another possible problem price adjusting on Black Friday for previous purchases is that it could cause major problems with availability on Friday morning. A lot of folks get in line crazy early..if the doors open up and the item is already gone..there are going to be some seriously unhappy shoppers. I know some stores don't put out the Black Friday sale merchandise until that day. But if I was a SM I wouldn't want to take that chance!

I went to Guest Services this afternoon and asked them if they would adjust the price if I purchased something today and then it went on sale on Friday. The lady there had to ask one of the guys there and he said no they won't. He then said if you return it they can't let me "repurchase" the same items I brought in as they have to stock the floor with them.

I would just like to see it in writing that price adjustments are not applicable for items on sale for BF and Saturday right after. I decided to not purchase the leapster games I was originally going to get because it isn't worth the headache.

Now ask me if I am going to go to Target first thing on Friday morning - probably not. I don't want to deal with the hassle of having to go back to the toy department to wait in line for a cash register (our Target always gets backed up instantly on BF). Now I wonder if Wal-mart would price adjust if I were to purchase today and then bring in Target's add on Friday - in essence maybe Target lost a sale but I'm sure its minimal for them.

I was at Target Monday, and asked the Guest Services clerk this question, specifically about Black Friday deals, and he said absolutely they will honor that price - I just bring in my receipt, and they will give me the money back. He said the only time that's not true is when something is marked "Clearance", not "Sale". So, that's what I'm going with! (But you know, I think I'll have the Lego set in the car just in case, so I could return it and buy it back if I have to!)

Just found this on a WSJ blog by Anna Wallet on major retailers price adjustments:

Target:
Target’s price adjustment policy will remain unchanged during the holidays, according to Target spokeswoman Jana O’Leary.

Target will adjust the price of any item that goes on sale at their stores the same week or the week after the purchase, as long as you present the original sales receipt. This includes the deeply discounted items featured in the store’s post-Thanksgiving holiday circular.

To grab a sneak peek of the circular, visit www.target.com/weeklyad starting at 2am CST on Nov. 26.

I just called up to the Target store and spoke with a manager who would only give me her name as Lindsey - she said they do not price adjust for items that go on sale on Friday/Saturday. This is even after I spoke with their customer service 800# and they stated that as long as its advertised they pride adjust within 14 days. She didn't want to hear it, etc. and said it wasn't fair for those who stood in line the morning there of.

I price adjust every year. Never been a problem :)

I tried last year - I bought the item on Wednesday and tried to get the price adjustment on Friday. They would not give me the adjustment and were adamant that they do not do this on Black Friday (manager was included in this discussion). I guess it depends store to store as well as who is working that day.

Ahhh - finally someone who speaks good english from Target Customer Service - I picked the option commenting about a recent experience in a store. She is helping me now so hopefully Lindsey and her bosses boss' will get the correct message. She is calling the store now to let them know - this is GREAT!!!.

Edit - The lady just got back to me and she stated she told the Manager on duty, Lindsey, the Targets price adjustment policy. She did indicated Lindsey was hesitent but she let her know that if she has any questions or concerns to contact Store Operations. She said I will not have a problem price matching on Friday and if I did to have Store Operations contacted and she gave me a Reference #.

Lindsey just called - she is pissed. She said this is "Lindsey from Target and I understand you just talked to customer relations. Is there anything you have a question on for me?" I stated, so you folks are price adjusting on items for sale in this Friday's circular? She stated "if that is what customer relations told you then it is true". I said thank you and she hung up on me...LOL.

Listen - I'm not trying to cheat them out of anything its just I want what the policy is to be followed.

Hey there, former Target employee here. I have worked both at HQ and in Guest Services behind the counter doing the price changes. It is something in their system. There is NO way to "block" a price adjustment. The register is set to adjust anything that is on sale off of a current (within 14 days) receipt. So if you can simply get someone to pull up your receipt, the system will automatically adjust it. It is not something that can be decided on a store-by-store basis.

If you can remain calm about it, I would ask them to simply "try". If it is a company-wide "rule", it shouldn't work.

JMO. Good luck!
