Tapestry of Nations/Dreams - why nothing to replace it?

I miss this parade! Any rumors of it ever returning or something replacing it?

It seems like two things at Epcot have been removed or closed that the whole family could enjoy (this parade and WOL pavilion) and replaced with things not everyone wants to ride (Test Track and Mission Space).

The Tapestry parades were my FAVORITE part of the Epcot experience for the years it ran. I too miss it a LOT! I have the music on CD and play it often.

We absolutely loved this parade. It was so different and addictive. I was on hold one time for over a half hour when they were playing that music and I was disappointed when the CM came on. Gotta buy a c/d with that music.

Okay, I am definitely in the minority here..I'm glad the parade is gone. While I enjoyed it, the WS walkways were not designed to host a parade. The crowds were unmanageable and it was really lousy trying to get from one place to another with that parade going. I liked the parade, but they need to put it somewhere else....with wider walkways.

I have to agree...

well...I'm not a 'parade' person anyway...but this is very true - the walkways were just too small to allow for people on both sides AND a parade walking through.

This is the first I've heard that the parades were no more!! When did this happen? We also have the cd and play it often, mostly for the sounds of Illuminations. We're trying to get our one year old twins used to the sounds so they won't be frightened when they are actually there in 10 days!! I was looking forward to standing at the edge of the crowd with the babies while the cast memebers in the parade approached them as they often do with the little kids on the edge. My husband has always wanted to be acknowledged by the large "puppets" in the parade and I figured if he was standing there with twins, he wouldn't be ignored. We will all miss it very much

It went away over a year ago, I think. The original Tapestry of Nations parade was designed to be just part of the Millenium celebration. It was so popular that they revamped it (slightly) into the Tapestry of Dreams parade. But that again was supposed to be just for the duration of the 100 years of magic celebration. It was never supposed to be permanent. I too miss it. The first time I saw Illuminations after it ended something just seemed off.

We saw the final show, Presidents Week 2003. We have missed it greatly.

I have to disagree with a few of the posters, I don't think it was any worse than trying to get down Main Street or Hollywood Blvd. during a parade.

I enjoyed Tapestry (Nations more than Dreams) but I agree that it was a crowd control nightmare. I remember we were almost late for our Candlelight Processional seating a couple of years ago because we were held up at Morocco while the parade entered the walkway. At least at MK and MGM, you can get through the stores as an alternate route.

I don't recall the parade route being particularly bad except just past Mexico on the way to Norway. That was a congested little passageway. Once you were in the open, the parade seemed easier to get through than, say, the Magic Kingdom (Frontierland, anyone?). And the music was top notch. I've...got....the CD around here somewhere.......

I guess I didn't realize it had happened since we haven't been there since July 2002. I was too pregnant last summer, but I was looking forward to letting the babies experience it this year. Oh well...on to making new memories in 9 days!!!!

We saw it with the millenium celebration. It was absolutely astonishing at night! We really missed it when we were back this past Thanksgiving. It'd too bad they can't make some use of all that costuming. The size and coloring of all the costume appendages were breathtaking. It's left a lasting memory! I think they had run that parade twice a day(afternoon and evening). It seems like they could make it work if they want to whether it be cost concerns or space. They could stagger parade times at all parks and use same staff shuffling them from park to park. I'd really like to see it come back. Epcot needs more to entertain families as a whole. My youngest was 4 at the time and was in aw!

We love the TON. When we brought our teenaged nieces they flipped over the music and costumes. They used their spending money from home to buy the music. My DH and DSs loved it too. When we brought our friends the Jan before it ended they thought it was wonderful also. We truly miss it. I can't see any problem with the crowds since everyone followed the roped in areas if they did not want to stand or sit for the parade. I was hoping since crowds have increased the parade might be brought back we would all be thrilled. Oh well maybe the powers that be will read this and take note!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!;)

I am so far behind! I had no idea the Tapestry of Nations/Dreams had gone away. It was my favorite thing to see at WDW since I saw it for the first time in Oct 2000. I thought the original one was better than "Dreams", but I would happily watch either one. Never noticed any problem with crowds. I bought the original CD in 2000 and still listen to it regularly when I need a "Disney fix". I still cry almost every time I hear it. I am so, so sad this has ended.
