Tally of Operations Designed or Changed Possibly Due to Abuse

Are they not getting tougher on ADR's?

Amy called for our Dec. trip just past and they asked her a bunch of questions. Name, resort, time of stay(arrival and departure) and how many in your party.
If this is a way to curb abuse over multiple ADR's I'm all for it, to many times I've read threads here and other places where people have made multiple ADR's because they don't know where they will be on any given day so they just "cover the bases". The heck with the rest of you, I can do this because I can get away with it and will.

Has no one heard of Parkhoppers, we do it all the time. You go to say MK during the day and if your dinner ADR is at Epcot, hop in the car or a bus and change parks and have a great meal while you are there.;)

It's not that hard people.:confused3

I'm sorry but this is a big sore spot for me and the selfishness and blatant rule breaking shown buy some is just makes me wonder what kind of world we live in these days. My dad would have smacked me up side the head for behaving like this, I miss you bud.

It's to bad that Disney has to go to extremes to weed out the abuse but if it works I'm all for it.

ITA! :thumbsup2

I wish Disney would increase no shows and same day cancelled ADR fees to $50. and apply it to every restaurant.

Thanks to Lewisc for pointing this one out...

I ordered two cases of water from Staples for our trip last week, and they tried to charge me $10 ($5 per case) when they brought them to my room. I refused to pay it because I had not been notified of any charge, had not read about it here and had never been charged this fee before. The CM was kind of sheepish, and she waived the fee without an argument. She said that Disney now has an outside company handling all of its packages, and that the fee was not announced.

It did not apply to my Owner's Locker or scooter from Walker Mobility, so I guess it applies only to packages mailed or sent by UPS or FedEx.

Just a warning to those of you that like to send stuff to yourselves at the resorts.

I wonder if this would be applied to outside grocery delivery?

We're DVC and could have had Disney stock our fridge - but I chose an outside delivery business (garden grocer) because they had more variety to choose from........

I used to work Fantasyland Attractions and was briefed on Skyway. This is what I was told by trainers: The Skyway was closed for several reasons. It was old and needed lots of maintenance work, making it very expensive to operate. It was next to impossible to make it accessible in accordance of with the ADA. It also was declining in popularity. At no point was spitting ever mentioned to me as the reason, in fact, I had not heard of it until this thread.

There are lots of things you don't see that are in response to abuse:

-Whenever there is an injury, we have to write a million statements in case the person comes back to sue us, even if it is clearly a result of their negligence (and 9 times out of 10 it is).

-During Grad Nites in 04 we had to add a ride through of each attraction to our rotation because some kids kicked over one of the volcanoes in Peter Pan.

-If you hurt yourself, we have to ask you three times if you need first aid, so that you cannot go back and say that we did not offer it.

A lot of what I had to do as a CM was aimed at preventing lawsuits. I started entertainment right after the Tigger Trial, and let's just say that it took me a long time to get over my fear of being accused of something I did not do.

Although the lines were made accessible due to the passage of the ADA, we do have lots of people who try to rent a wheelchair and bypass the line. In my experiences, it is the people wit hthe rented wheelchairs who give me the most grief about going through the regular line. While I loved the majority of the guests, the one thing I did not like was how cynical working there made me. If you had a rented wheelchair, most of us just begin to assume you're lazy or trying to skip the lines. Why? Because enough people sit there and scream at us for not giving them immediate access. It makes us suspicious of anybody in a rented wheelchair.

Anytime I see a tour group I cringe. The Brazilian tour groups are notorious for abusing the system and I've heard they have had to start limiting them. Entertainment especially does not like them because in the past they have tried to steal costume pieces or mobbed the characters. The large groups are also notorious for shoplifting and my friend's store had to put a limit on how many people from an individual tour group could come in at once. It's sad that because of a few, most of us despise every tour group because we never know which ones will behave and which ones won't.

WDW is such a wonderful and magical place. I truly loved working there, but somedays the abuse of the system and the Cast Members would be too much. Sorry to be so long winded, this just hit a nerve with me as a former CM. We were reminded everyday of how people would attempt to take advantage of Disney's legendary guest service, and it was disheartening when you are passionate about your role and providing a great experience. Most of us love the guests and love what we do, so when people abuse the system or yell at us, we tend to take it personally.

It's been a while since this thread's been bumped... Has anyone noted any recent changes that they think may be attributable to the manner in which some guests have used or abused the services offered, in the past?

We were talking about a change earlier this week that could be attributable to over-use and/or abuse: Disney is switching to relying far more heavily on automated room assignment, perhaps in response to how special requests so often had been perceived by guests as requirements that they could compel Disney to grant, just by virtue of the asking.
