We are so excited to now own at Boardwalk! And, I've tried multiple times to put our broker in, but it always comes up *****. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong? So sorry!
That seems like a long time to receive closing docs.

@IsDVCForMe? It felt like an eternity (:P), but this was our first time buying resale, so we had nothing to compare timeframes to. It's been so helpful to have the "purchasing DVC" threads on Disboards to get questions answered. And, comparing our experience to others on this thread, I think we had a pretty speedy experience from start to finish.

We are just so happy to finally have points in our account! I booked Boardwalk for fall, 2026 the day we got our points, and I had to waitlist a few days because we couldn't get all our dates. Thankfully, our waitlists came through already!

Unreal timing. Congrats!

Oh and ya, I agree with the wire comment. Our bank was overly cautious, which we very much appreciated. But it was very stressful.

It has been awhile since I bought resale or direct. Seems like I overnighted a cashier's check back then. Is wiring funds like bill pay out of my account?

It gets moved from one account to another. It’s about as easy as it gets but once it’s gone, it’s gone. So if you mess up, there’s no going back. That’s why my bank was so cautious.

Which is why it's one of the go-to ways for scammers to ask you to send them money and why banks make you triple check stuff.

Wiring always scares me when I've had to do it to pay for like house projects and stuff.
The wires are the only way they accept our last payments?

I still mostly send cashier's checks. When I've dealt with DVC contracts, it's given me a choice.

When we paid off our house last year, I had to do final payment with wire transfer. It definitely was not easy. I had to talk to 3 people at my bank (they are very scam cautious right now) and even though I had been paying the loan company for years, my bank wanted an insane amount of details about the last payment. I told them it's the same company I've been paying for years and it's never been a problem. I vowed to never do a wire transfer again.

Is that for a DVC mortgage? I paid my final DVC mortgage payment with a credit card online.

It would be great to use the credit card to get the points. Seems like my last resale one only so much 1/2 maybe could be be on CC. Direct points, really do not remember. Neither contracts were financed.
I am all for sending the cashiers check. I am still trying to find the “right” resale. UY is the prob so far.

I wired for all three of my resale contracts I purchased in the past year. Helps that I used the same title company for all three so, after the first one, I knew I had the right wiring information and was pretty confident about the process.

I did think about overnighting a cashier's check, but FedEx or UPS would have been quite a bit more expensive than the cost to wire money. USPS overnight would have been about the same price as a wire, but I honestly do not trust USPS for something like that. Plus, a wire is still instant.

I used a local credit union for the wire. It's not my primary bank, but I do have an account there. They charged $25 for the wire (my primary bank charges $30). They didn't really ask any questions. I gave them all the information, and they did it - it was pretty easy.

I was able to put up to $7,500 on my credit card as the deposit and just had to wire the balance.I would love if I had the option to use a cashier's check. It seemed like wire was the only option but maybe I should have asked. I will try anything to avoid it next time. Literally just the challenge of getting to the bank with young kids and a full-time job and all the activities and the bank having the worst as possible open hours. Then when I went on Saturday, they were redoing their carpets and weren't doing any customer service transactions at all. Fate was conspiring against me and I still had an insanely fast total closing time lol.

On the seller side, I'm definitely holding up my transaction right now because of the challenge of finding a notary with two witnesses during a time when I don't need to bring both of my children with me or take a day off to do it.
