Tally of Operations Designed or Changed Possibly Due to Abuse

It's not optimum for anyone, not just families with small kids. Adults get sick or change their minds too.

Yeah, we dropped three ADRs as a couple when DH and I went. With Russ, we didn't have to drop a single one due to crankiness. (And he even got to eat at Le Cellier!)

Having just seen what it takes to run the one still at Busch Gardens Tampa, I would believe it has something to do with the logistics and dangers in running it.

Actually snopes confirmed (Sort of) that it wasn't directly resulting of the death. I would have to go find it. BRB

Of course the 'official' statement is that it wasn't....it was due to economic reasons. The timing though was coincidental. And of course "economic reasons" could be interpreted as any number of reasons that cost money.

New check in policy for California Grill: implemented June 2004.

Credit card guarantee policy: implemented October 2005.

I still think that if it was because of the dining plan, they would have implemented one for Le Cellier also. Maybe that's what jodifla thinks is upcoming.

I think the DDP pushed CG over the brink. ANd I'm afraid it's coming for many other restaurants as well.

We were at DL when there were kids spitting from the skyride. We were a few cars behind and saw it. Security was there when they exited and were going to throw them out of the park when a man approached and said he was their father. They released them to him. We saw all of this with our own eyes.
Yup, I'm sure that happened, a good bit. My point was that I didn't think that was the reason why they decommissioned the skyride. I think it was decommissioned for other reasons, instead.

The folks at the CG told us they did it because people were coming up for the view without wanting to have a meal and it was getting to difficult to manage. The new way, they said, limited people to the observation deck and such to those actually having meals at CG.

How did we miss this one earlier?

You can no longer find out how many days are left on passes by telephone, presumably due to the abuse Disney detected with resale of admission passes.

More and more and more reasons to hate what the DDP is doing to WDW! Having to pay for ADRs, having to have everyone who checks in at one time for the hatefull DDP plan.....YECH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Since my folks never check in all at the same time, and I switch out people, this won't work for me at all.

Disgusting.
Having to put a credit card deposit on reservations at SOME Disney locations went into effect long before the Disney Dining Plan began.
Guests who feel the DDP is hateful and having to have your entire party with you at checkin is "yech"-y, don't need to participate in it. Problem solved, case closed.

There are a lot of choices now, but if the abuse fueled by the DDP continues, there will be fewer and fewer choices for non-deposited ADRs.

The DDP in its current incarnation has been in existence for over two years. Which venues have been added to the "credit card deposit required" list since its onset because of percieved abuse, either in that entire time, or since the above-quoted post on 1/2/07?

Reported by Lewis: Previously, extra buns at Electric Umbrella were $0.85, however, perhaps due to how frequently folks were using that offering combined with a double cheeseburger to avoid using a second CS credit for a burger for a second diner, the price for a bun is now $1.99.

Apparently, Disney is now applying an automatic gratuity (either just for DDE holders, or for all TS patrons), rather than relying on each patron's discretion. This is perhaps due to the concern that too many patrons are not (or will not) appropriately compensate servers for service.

Edited: Apparently, this is just for DDE holders. We actually knew about this months ago.

The way that the credit card guarantee was explained to me was the card isn't charged UNLESS you do not show up at the restaurant(CRT the exception).

I also thought of the wrist-bands that are used at the Yacht & Beach Club pool area - Stormalong Bay - to keep people who are NOT staying there from using the pool area.

This is not enforced. You only need a wristband if you want a towel. I was very disappointed when staying there..it was same ole same ole.

So more abuse therefore is likely to eventually translate into even more restrictive changes. Sigh.

If there is a problem and you miss your ADRs and you have put a deposit on the restaurant with a credit card they will take it off it you have a good reason. We have done this twice. Both were for medical reasons . One time we were in the park and had to go to the first aid station with DD who was over heated. We had to stay there for quite sometime. I forgot we even had ressies! We forgot to call and then called from the hotel and they took it off. Last year we ended up at Celebration ER and again didnt cancel until the next day. They again took it off for me. I would not do this for silly reasons like you changed your mind and didnt call or because the children are fussy etc. We were lucky both times and the CM I called understood. We will try again this trip....it seems credit card ressies are very bad luck for us.

I am amazed at the lengths people will go to rip off the system. I guess thats why I will never be rich:lmao: .

I have no problem with a new system for ADR's, either a Credit Card or tied to the room somehow to try and deal with the numerous bookings on the same night because they need a ADR in every park, not knowing where they are going to be.

We've used DDE several times since this was announced, and have yet to ahve the gratuity automatically added.

The fence and wristbands at SAB is another example.

The fingerscan is also a by-product of the new MYW ticket pricing. Disney gives guests almost free extra days. The days are intended to be used by the guest and not sold or given to others to use. The fingerscan was set up as an alternative to CM checking photo id or putting pictures on the AP.

Disney may be in the process of separating children and adult dining credits. I don't think Disney anticipated their generosity and flexibility would result in a strategy of "using your kids as a license to print money."

They were seperated when we were there in Dec.

The pricing structure for 10-day passes was changed so it's no longer economical to use them for two trips. Since Disney offered the non-expiring option, it wasn't abusing the system, but they apparently figured out that they weren't getting maximum per-day $ when a 10-day was used that way.

When 10-day non-expiring passes were first offered, we saved several hundred dollars over the cost of buying 5-day passes twice.

Now that Disney has increased the cost to add the no-expire option so much, we'll just buy an AP and go two years in a row (and maybe sneak in a short trip in the winter). Plus we'll get to go to the parks every day of our trip vs. just five days.

I think it went into effect in January of this year. We were in WDW 1/31-2/3 and we were charged the 18% gratuity at every meal with the DDE card.
