Talk to me about January...

We have been to Disney the past three years in January (camping) the past years with this last trip lasting 21 days.

Weather is all over the place but mostly light weight pants and thirst in the day and jackets by night. January 2014 was abnormally cool and required me being gloves in the parks to keep warm. But that was just one really really cold day out of the past three trips. January 2013 was cool and about half the days you could swim. January 2014 was cooler and only a handful of swimming days. This past January 2015 most days were able to swim but still required a jacket.

As for the comments on the low crowd lines this simply isn't our experience and we did have a lengthy one this past January. Crowds have increased every year with this past year bring the worst. Yes, arrive at rope drop and you can walk on anything except SDMT within the first hour. Actually, I take that back, Peter Pan was 30 mins 10 minutes after rope drop. With exception to the first hour do not expect to walk on anything and do expect a wait ranging from 25 - 90 for most everything.

Many teen Brazilian tour groups too! They don't chant or not suppose to chant anymore and had the least interaction with them this past year.

MlK is busy but only really that Friday - Monday. Tuesday is back to "normal January" but like I said each year weather and crowds have been different so there's that.

We went that week and crowds weren't bad at all!! Weather was amazing. We wore jeans and t-shirts. It was too cool for me to get in the pool but DH and DD did.

Be prepared for extremes just in case. FL at 30s/40s is absolutely brutal. Not like it is at home. It's a severe damp and windy just horrible cold. Yuck. I hate cold! The good news is that it doesn't usually last more than a day or two and then you could be right back at 60s/70s. When I visited here in Nov before we moved, I left the panhandle at 20 degrees!! It's was still 30s when I got there and as the week went on, we were in TShirts for Disney. (I brought a pink hoodie for evenings, worked out great.)

I will say, that being the off season in Jan, the hours aren't open very long anywhere and I believe no water parks are open either. It's just what you get with off season. Thankfully, its just like a bonus for you, so that's good. Also, you probably would be able to get into a restaurant in and out of the parks.

I definitely wouldn't plan a Sea portion (cruise) of a trip that time of year, as historically, Jan and Feb are the hardest to dock at the great ports you came to see. (Unless the ship is all you care about, you can get great deals that time of year, but you may miss Disney's private island if the weather doesn't permit docking and sea weather could be slightly rough.)

Me, I hate cold so much, I'm already dreading it even down here. I'll happily take 90-95 over 50 any day, although 85-87 is what I prefer as my sweet spot. It's been 88 since the day we moved in March, and when it gets under 70, my flannel jammies come out. It's just what I'm used to.
