Ok, I know there are HHI experts out there - talk to me about going with my 2.5 y/o DS this fall.

I've looked at pictures (got anymore?) and I've read about the activites so I'm thinking this is a more relaxed vacation. No fireworks, no parades, no rides. Lots of swimming, beach time, playground fun, campfires, and such. Is that about accurate?

Does it have the Disney feel? Are there any charcters there by chance (I read something about Goofy bingo)? Can you give me an idea of how much some of the for-fee activites are, like meeting the Dolphins?

How about a good fan site?

Thanks - this isn't set in stone yet. I need to call MS first ;) and talk to the DH some more, but I'm trying to get revved up for this.

HHI is great for families. We went last summer. Kids were six and 1.5. My 1.5 year loved it. We would ride bikes to the beach in the early morning, and spend the morning there before it got to hot. Around lunch we'd pack her up in the pull behind, and she would fall asleep on the way back and take a long nap.

They have a nice little kids pool area, and tons of activities.

In my opinion it doesn't have a real Disney Theme to it. The resort is nice, but if you were dropped there and didn't know it was a Disney resort it might not be real evident. Obviously there are Disney specific items at the resort, but it's low key.

The first time we went was Oct, and the weather was warm, but lots of rain. That was a bummer.

HHI, I just love this place. We go once a year just to relax and swim and EAT. It feels like Disney to me but you want see characters and just a few Disney icons and pictures. But the staff wont let you forget where you are A Disney Owned Property.

We have been taking our daughter since she was 6 mos. When she was 2-3, she loved it. We'd rent the chairs and umbrella at the beach. I'd sit in the chair and she loved playing in the sand in the shade of the umbrella. She loved the splashy play area at the Beach House and didn't go in the pool much. There is a room at the Beach House with tables and chairs and boardgames. It's a great place to let her play around out of the heat and sun while the boys play in the pool.

At the resort, she loved running along the paved paths and chasing squirrels off the paths. There are hammocks around that she loved. There is a playground that is fun and we often found little crabs to chase. There are plenty of trees that were low enough for her to "climb" - with help. The kiddie pool area was not very crowded on the trips we've taken. We tried the All-American barbeque, but she wasn't into it. She did like the campfire sing-along and the shuffleboard game. We had to make sure we were indoors before the fireworks started. While there are not Disney characters, there is a fellow name B'lou who takes care of the dog Shadow. He and Shadow do meet 'n greets with the kids, and there is an activity where he takes kids the kids on a walk with Shadow around the property and tells stories along the way. My DD loved that.

We go to HHI every June and just love it. DD is 5 now and can't wait to ride her bike with big brother.
