Tales from the TDS 12/8/01 pin Saturday

Got mine again with no problems. I don't think there was any real *hot* pin this time, except those who needed to complete the poster and full series.
This store did have the formerly known as Mickey for Prez back on the racks. I bought a few extra.
The only downside, and it was minor, is that I used a $5 off coupon and was not allowed to get the free MM beanie with a $30 purchase with that. I thought that was a rip. But I am not a beanie person anyway. If that's the worse that happens today.....

Our store was short on Pluto in front of the christmas tree.They only had 12 total. But I did get all the pins I needed.But I was at the store at 5am.

Three stores in CT got short supplies of The Santa Clause, leaving a lot of frustrated people.

It wasn't that bad. I originally wrote a long story about it, but it really wasn't necessary. In short, we only had 12 Santa Clause pins this week. The manager always tells all who ask which pin she is short of each week. Well this week, one women actually yelled at her about this. The lady yelled at the manager that if she didn't tell us, we wouldn't help our friends in the back of the line and she would have gotten her pins. (I buy an extra set every week for a older women who can not get to the store early enough.) Needless to say, it left me with a bitter taste in my mouth. The good thing though is that the District Manager was there so my friends and I told her what a great job the manager and staff do and how much we appreciate them. I am going to be glad when this is all done. It has brought the best and worst out of people

Our store got no Snow White pins and got only 12 Santa Claus pins, The manager said that she should be getting the Sleeping Beauty pins and would not put them on sale until next Saturday. Was pleasant and most were happy.
Will be picking up 2 sets next week for someone going to WDw for the pin event. Guess DH will be getting up early.

I got there at 10:05 A.M. and the same people whe were ahead of me last week were there again this week. I had no problems getting a full set. There were still a decent collection of pins from last week on the stand including the Walt locket and Mickey through the Mirror. I picked up another Walt Locket.

The store staff is looking forward to when this is over.

If your net total of purchaes was at least $30 (after the coupon), then you should have been able to get the free beanie.

We continue to play nice where we shop. One guest brought donut holes to share. The first guest arrived a little before 7 a.m. - store opened at 9 a.m. I'll be glad to sleep in on December 22! For some reason there were more "new" guests this weekend. I wonder if it because the store north of us does not play nice.

My store only received 12 pins of Pluto and Santa Clause. I only purchased the five other pins. It gets kind of discouraging.

All well at the Roosevelt Field DS on Long Island. We were about #35 on line(arrived around 7AM for an 8AM opening). We got all the pins, although they did eventually run out of Santa Clause & one other pin. A load of previous weeks pins on the racks, including many Locket Pins. We did some great trading while waiting on line again.

Well no big rush at the store this am, I agree that there was no really hot pin this week. The only pin I really wanted, sleeping beauty poster did not come in at all but the CM told us she will get them this week and save them till saturday to put out. This made us all happy. Only got 6 of the Santa Clause pin but since there were only 6 of us we all got one. CM told us she has 80 boxes of pins for next week, YIKES!! We offered to help her unpack them I think we are looking forward to the end of this because of the early mornings, but will miss the new friends we have made and the chance to get more pins for our addiction. Hope the DS sees that there are plenty of pin collectors and will continue to offer new pins all the time. WE would love to see some LE only avail. at the DS.
The free Mickey is really cute and it says The Disney Store 2001 on his rear end. There was no sign out about it I had the card but none of the other pin people did so they had to ask for it, of course we all spent more than the $30 needed to get Mickey. My son is a Goofy lover and it is hard to find goofy stuff but today I found a cute stuffed christmas ornament dated 2001 and also a 60's goofy that looks like Jimi Hendrix, he is so cute with a guitar.

Our store seemed to have been short shipped the Santa Clause. So they ran out before I could even get my hands on one. And I was there at 0700 today too. Store opened at 0900. Valley Fair I have been told had more than enough, but they put them on the rack and the pin heads went back and bought them all up. None were left by the time I got there. Anyone so kind as to have gotten extras? Let me know. I think I'll make the last pin visit to Valley Fair. I'm glad next week will be the last one.

I got to my store at 8am,store opens at 9. There was only one person ahead of me. I wanted only 2 pins of this weeks 8,Sleeping Beauty Poster and Mary Poppins. A couple with a baby boy who are regulars couldn't be there this week asked me to get them a set. When the store opened we were told there were 12 full sets and only 5 people on line. I got the set for my friends and the 2 pins for me. I bought some Christmas gift CDs and DVDs and got $15 off their purchase and the Mickey beanie. Hope next week is just as civilized.

JudithM -- my total was. And I pointed that out to the CM. Who even asked the manager. They said it was because they couldn't use two discount codes in the system -- one for the $5 off and one for the free beanie. But I too think I should have been given the beanie. Luckily I really didn't care, but anything free from Disney is good. (And unusual)

I didn't go to my TDS this weekend, though my mom did. She said they had to wait outside of the mall until 8a (when the store opened). The security guard wouldn't even let mall employees in. A manager came out and tried to at least let employees in, and the security guard got into an argument with them. Apparently someone at the mall has complained about the group waiting at the TDS (we're not loud, we don't move benches, we sit peacefully and talk). The managers at my TDS said they hadn't heard anything about any complaints and are going to have to have a talk with the mall management. It ought to be interesting to find out what's really happening. Hopefully it'll all be resolved before next Saturday.

i had no problems this week , we had our normal 12 or so people and everyone is looking forward to being able to sleep in in two weeks!! by the way i have an extra santa clause if anyone wants to trade, preferably for a state pin next week!!!.

Actually the combination of the Free Beanie and the use of the Coupons is not permitted. The coupon states that it is not to be combined with any other promotions or offers.

It's your choice of one or the other.

Went to my DS around 9 am and I bought a total of 8 pins, 1 Timothy, 2 Poppins, 2 Pluto, 1 Clause and 2 Working for Peanuts, also got 1 Mickey head ink pens (I use them for waitressing).
I also found some Mickey Antenna toppers, bought 2 of the Mickey USA flag ones! Used a coupon from the pepsi carton (forgot the other one at home) and got my FREE Mickey also, he is sitting on top of my computer right now!
CM's say they have plenty of the Massachusetts pins for next week, but will do a 2 pin limit.
I may have to go twice. (My teen works in the Mall, across from the Disney store, so, usually I go twice on Saturday's...dropping off and picking up, if I can find a parking place!!! What a good Mom I am!

Arrived at my mall when store opened. We had a shortage of Santa Claus pins also. #6 in line wasn't even able to get one. The usual Sat. morning group was there and I, too, will be glad when this is over. Everyone please remind me to NEVER do this again.

Brandon, perhaps it is a store preference because at our store yesterday almost every guest had a snowman coupon and received their beanie if they purchased over $30 worth of merchandise.

Well, I tried to leave the house by 8:30 but didn't make it out until about 8:45. I was #10 in line and was a little nervous for the first time! I'm usually the early bird and I sort of panicked because I hadn't looked at the pins for this week to see if there was a hot item. Everyone, as usual, was very civilized and making sure when someone walked up that they knew who they would be behind. We all shared stories and talked about Christmas parties, gift exchanges, etc. One guest had the dining pin from DLR and she was able to explain how it worked (I didn't understand the idea of spending $20 to get a Lady and the Tramp pin -- but, it's actually based on the total of your bill at certain restaurants. For every $20 spent on the meal, you get a pin!)

When the store manager came over to open the gate, she informed us there were only 8 of the Santa Clause pin so they would only allow 1 per person to maximize the number of people able to get that pin. Nobody grumbled. Everyone was ok. Again, a nice orderly line to pick up and then move to the next register to purchase.

As I left the store, I immediately called my sister-in-law who is relaxing in Vegas for the weekend. They happened to be in line at TDS even though it was my week to pick up the pins. I told them what we still needed and they were able to complete our set. We are gong to bid on one of the pin proofs this week and try to get an extra of the pin to frame with the proof. Wish us luck!

I am so excited there is only one more week of this. I think I found some gray hairs!
