Hi everybody, I was just wondering if any of you can answer my question about taking snacks and drinks into universal and islands? I have two kids and I was planning on taking snacks in ,basically I want to know do they give you a hard time about it? I know they check the bags, but when you have kids you tend to over pack to be prepared, I dont want to get there and have them tell me we cant take snacks and gatorade ect. in the park ! Thanks for any help!! :Pinkbounc :bounce: Pixie-Girl

We were there in July 2003 and we brought a backpack with snacks and water into the park every day. No problem.

Saw a family sitting down by the restuarant by Back to the Future each having a subway Heros ( grinder, Hoagie, Sub, Bellybuster, Torpedo, etc) and drinks. A lot of people had those cooler back packs.

They'd prefer you don't brink snacks in the park, but they're not going to stop you if you do. As long as you have no glass, then it's all good.

we were there last weekend and I witnessed them make several people pour out or throw away drinks as they entered the park. Only exception I noticed was bottled water. They did make people ( a young couple) pour out water they had in their own bottles.

Like a lot of policies decreed by executives and policed by front-line employees, this one seems to bend with the mood of the screener, the size of the crowds, etc., etc.

The official policy is NO coolers (altho backpack coolers may be seen as backpacks rather than coolers) and NO outside food or drink. Again, the major exceptionseems to be bottled water. Maybe that's because not allowing people to carry water in the scorching Florida heat could be seen as a health issue and expose UO to legal liability. But that's just a guess.

So bottom line seems to be the more/bigger stuff you bring in, the more the chance of running afoul of the policy. Even then it's sorta the luck of the draw.

Thanks for the replys. I plan on spending my $30+ dollars on park food just like everybody else for lunch and dinner , I just planned on taking a few snacks(cheese-its ect) and some water for my 7 and 5 year old. So I'll stick to that and bottled water. Its funny anyway because I can pack a backpack when we go into these parks and the person usually looks like ok shes not threating in ayway and to heck with searching through the whole bag, or its Uh what else could you have possibly fit in the bag!!!! I really dont want coke to be the only thing my kids drink all day in the blistering sun!! Thanks again guys for all the helpful tips and information!!!!!
