My mom gets seasick but is concerned with getting drowsy and missing out on the daytime fun of the cruise. Has anyone had luck taking meds such as Bonine at night and having the effectiveness last during the next day?
Bonine worked great for my dizziness and associated nausea. Dramamine doesn't help my dizziness. And are you guys taking this for nausea or dizziness? I get dizzy not nausea.
My main symptom is vertigo. I get nauseated, too, but that is nothing compared to the vertigo. Bonine works for me.And are you guys taking this for nausea or dizziness? I get dizzy not nausea.
It is only for age 12 and up. They have a bin outside of health services with single serve packets of chewable Meclizine (the active ingredient in Bonine.) It is help yourself, but there is a sign that says 1 sample/person and that you can purchase more in the shops. There was also an informational sheet about dealing with seasickness. We were on a Wonder Alaskan cruise last August, and DD16 felt seasick, so I picked up 4 samples...as there were 4 of us in the room.I've read that they give out Bonine on the ship at the medical bay? If so, are children also supposed to take it, or only if over age 12?
I get seasick, car sick and altitude sickness and I found that 1/2 Bonine at night does the trick for me and my daughters. If I take a whole Bonine, I am too sleepy.
I received confirmation from our pediatrician that we could use 1/2 of any over the counter motion sickness medicine for them if needed. I just tried the 1/2 tablet and it works with minimal sleepiness.
They are now 7 and 9. They were 4 and 6 on our first cruise when we were given that recommendation from our Pediatrician. How old are your kiddos?
I get seasick 24/7. I take dramamine at night and nondrowsy dramamine during the day. Someone else mentioned there are all kinds of ginger candies, etc at World Market if you are in the states. I believe non-drowsy dramamine is Bonine though? Same ingredient I believe. Never take the off brand. I don't know why - it just isn't the same.
Thanks! They are now 7 and 9. They were 4 and 6 on our first cruise when we were given that recommendation from our Pediatrician.
