Taking Photos at Port Adventures (Dolphin Swim but also in general)

I read on an old post (2013) here that you can't take your own photos at Extreme Dolphin Swim in Grand Cayman because they want to sell you a photo CD that costs $100-300. Someone responded that they heard DCL guests can take their own photos.

So I was wondering if anyone has confirmation on that. Specifically the Extreme Dolphin Swim in Grand Cayman or Dolphinaris, but also at other animal encounters or other more unique excursions (I imagine it's fine on walking and jeep tours, etc).

I get that they want to sell me photos and appreciate the option (different angles, etc), but don't like the idea of not being able to take any myself (just like I could never rely wholly on Photopass).

We did a dolphin adventure at Atlantis and they didn’t allow any cameras so they could try to charge their rediculous pic prices. I didn’t give them a penny towards this scam.

Last year, we did the Dolphin Swim at Dolphinaris (Cozumel) and no cameras were permitted. (Photos were approx. $25 each). We just came back from another cruise, this time going to Chankanaab Park (Cozumel) on our own----easy to get to/from ship. We did the Manatee excursion, again no cameras were permitted (We paid an additional $200 for the photo cd (76 pictures), lunch, beverages (including alcohol), and the taxi back to the ship.) Most places won't allow cameras; however if you have someone not participating, they can take photos from a distance. Many places are negotiable---they don't advertise that, but you can make "deals". Have a great trip.
