Taking Minors off the ship

My son is 19. Can he take my 16 year old daughter off the ship?

We are all in the same stateroom.

Haven't seen this addressed...thanks for any help you can provide.

Yes he can. My daughter was able to take my son off the ship when she was 20.

I think you'll find that form is for somebody to take a minor on a Disney Cruise that is not their own child (or they are not the legal guardian of).

The only form we had to sign wa the one to allow somebody in a different stateroom to take my son off the ship (because we were in different rooms). There were no issues about her being under 21 though - even somebody over 21 has to sign that form (even if they are the parent or grandparent).

However, OP, to be on the safe side, it might be worth you asking at check in just to confirm.

As far as just leaving the ship maybe... don't know about that, but friends needed one for port adventures, for their 21 yo DD to take their 16 yo DD on a port adventure, last year. That could have changed since then, but our TA said it was required, they were all in the same room too and Guest Services took it and didn't say otherwise. Maybe they just took it to be polite, who knows? I think I would just have it handy, as it is just a piece of paper. I find that when I call I get a different answer about almost everything. Like PP said better safe.

Edited to add: I just remembered the girls have different last names (different fathers), maybe that is why?

Interesting - a 21 year old is hardly a minor. When you read the form, it is clear that it is intended for the parent to authorise somebody else to take their child on a cruise and that person agreeing to be responsible for them while ON the ship.

Like I said, always worth checking when you arrive at port - asking somebody on the phone is likely to elicit a different answer still.

It may be that the last names would have raised a red flag upon leaving the ship.. and TA wanted to prevent that. 21 went with the 16 yo on an excursion alone, they filled out the form, so no issues.

Thanks for the info...my son and daughter are going parasailing so I better check with the Port Adventures team to check.
