Taking a 5.5 year old to see the Lion King musical live performance?

The Lion King musical is coming to our local city and I'm thinking about taking my 5.5 year old to see it. Has anyone seen the musical? Would it be appropriate for her?

I saaw it years ago in NYC and it would definately be appropriate for her, but it depends on how well she will sit for such a thing. I took DD then 4.5, to see Beauty and the Beast and she did great. I still wouldn't take my DS, almost 7 to a show at this point.

Its a spectacular sohow to see! The costumes and scenery are like nothing I've seen before. It's worth it just for that!

Definitely appropriate but it is really long. So as long as she can sit through it, it is wonderful.

I am in the process of deciding whether or not to take my kids. 8,5,5. Not sure yet

The show is appropriate, you just have to decide if the child is.

Not every kid that age can sit quietly for that long and everyone around you will have dropped $100 a seat (roughly) to be there. Will she enjoy that long in a seat? It's a great show, but 5.5 is still young enough that it might be a little long. I think DS was 7 or 8 when we took him and while he's a good "quiet sitter" I don't know that he'd have managed at 5.5.

I took my son to the Lion King when we lived in Las Vegas, and he had just turned 4. He loved it, and had no problem sitting, there was plenty going on, and the intermission was nice for him to move around some. It was an awesome show, and he always wanted to go back. It was just too expensive to go again and again. Now, he is 5 and I am taking him to the Shrek broadway show. I think these are great introductions to musicals/theatre, and all the traditions that go with it.
