Take the shuttle from the motel?

We will have a rental car, and plan to stay VERY near to DL for three nights.
Should we just drive the car over, or take the hotel shuttle? If it's like WDW, there were long lines of people just waiting to take the shuttle to their car. Seems it may be easier just to take the shuttle in the first place.
How much does it cost to park per day at DL?

<font face="Comic Sans MS"><font color=#00009c>Depending on how close you're staying... some people just walk across the street to DL - it takes about 5 minutes or so. That is a lot more convenient than taking the shuttle or driving. If you'd like to drive, you'd go around to the other side of the park, and take the tram to DL. The parking is $7 per day per auto. More for RVs and busses.

The shuttle should be fine.

The hotels I am looking at will be right across the street. But they still offered shuttles. DH & I thought maybe because it was similar to WDW, where there really isn't a good place for foot traffic and maybe once you got in the gate, and pass the parking lots, it was a long trek.

Which hotel will you be staying at?

There's several blocks worth of "across the street" but in all cases, you can walk easily. Anywhere from a 3 to 15 minute walk depending on your hotel I'd walk rather than take the shuttle and *definitely* don't drive -- parking is a nightmare right now (or so I've heard). Disneyland is designed for easy foot-access from any hotels on Harbor or Disneyland Drive

LOL! Well, if it's on Harbor between Katella and I forget the name of the northern street but it may even be the freeway, then it's close enough to walk

If you are staying at the Park Inn International, Park Place, Fairfield Inn, which are on Harbor Blvd immediately across the street, all you will need to do is cross the street at the signal and you are on property. It is not like WDW where access to the theme parks is far away. We stayed at Park Inn International and parked our car for free the morning we arrived and they even let us leave our car there on the day of our departure while we went to Disneyland. The garage is less convenient, takes just as much time as walking and you have to pay $7 per day.

I'd take the shuttle, if the parks are busy at all the parking can be a zoo. Even with the high speed parking I think the shuttle will still be faster in most cases.

I have to say: I was AWFULLY impressed with the roadwork, signage and landscaping going on around Disneyland when we visited last summer. It was my first visit, and I'd heard horror stories, but Disney and Anaheim seem to have made a concerted effort to make the area more appealing, and more tourist-friendly. They spent a ton of money on towering palm trees, wide avenues and attractive sidewalks. It's really a pleasure to behold.

All of which is a roundabout way of saying I think it may be relatively easy, and safe, to cross the busy roads around the parks. The Anaheim park is a whole other experience, much more urban, and I don't think you should worry about the walk.
