As far as the little one's go, I'd just ignore it. I think that if you make a big deal out of it, they will too. You know they love to push mommy's buttons. ;)
Another coincidence Barb ?

I did ignore it, but her other son pointing it out is what really bothered me most. It was like he highlighted the whole thing by repeating it. Arghhhhhh. Since Grant has NOT heard those words before, I figured ignoring it would have been best. He will learn them soon enough, I know from school.

Her second boy is definately defiant and does love to push moms buttons, middle child too.

As far as the female dog word, we were in line at Wally World when the same boy said it to her when she had been telling him he could not have a Hot Wheels car, they weren't behaving in the store. She did not hear him, I advised her (maybe I shouldn't have but I don't find it appropriate) and right in line, out loud, she said did you say *****? Both of her boys said NO. What else would they say? Then she turned and said, nope, neither one of them said that.

I don't let Grant play with them much and when I do, something like this happens. Wow, maybe I am too :snooty: ?

Yes, the boys behave better without her there and she would be there for the party.

Rick guys can get away with doing things like that, us girls hold grudges and it wouldn't be pretty. I completely respect your theory, but girls are sooooo not like guys in that area. I think my best bet is to not harvest a war...she's connected to my work and other friends.

Hmmmm. This is a tough one. Has the cussing been going on frequently?

And what are you supposed to say to your friend? "Hey, I think your parenting techniques are not up to par. You need to work on them?" Rick, if you want to see what happens when you say that to a mother, go over to some of the parenting debates over on the DB. :p A woman scorned my rearend. Tell a woman that she is not being a good mommy--talk about hell's fury. ;)

I don't know about the kids use of words only that the parents frequently, no all the time, swear. I don't mind it the swearing, except that the kids are awake or right there. Like I said, my DH and I have talked about it at great lengths before and he has commented on it. It amazes me.

Lewski709, did the 4 year old call his mom a *****? If so, I wouldn't worry so much about the word as the fact that he was so disrespectful. Of course, I don't know what you could say without pissing her off. Who'd a thunk it'd be so hard to raise these little monkeys?

Yes, but of course she asked him and he said no he didn't say that so, he never said it at all DHB.

My DS said Dumb A** a couple weeks ago, just like Red Foreman says it. I told him not to say that, sternly and told DH we could not watch that show anymore with him up.

BTW, the 4yr old boy, come to think of it has been testing the waters with his mom on swearing over the past month. I remember her telling me about him being in the basement saying female dog, dog poo and the other f one. She said when she heard him, she told him not to say them again and he continued. He knows they are bad. He's not only testing the water, he's swimming in it.

It is difficult making choices.

A good piece of parenting advice I once got: Don't ask your kid if he did it if you know he did. It sets them up to lie. Then you have two issues.

But that's hard to do. LOL. I think it's human nature to say to your kid "Did you just call your brother a #@)#)#@" when you heard him say it.

Man, I'm so glad and DH and I are so incredibly perfect that there is no other option than to be blessed with two incredibly perfect children. Sighhhhhhhhhhh.

:rotfl:

I agree with you on setting them up......geeshhhhh, I don't like dealing with the swearing kids issue at all.

The only thing that would worry me would be when they get older & get into any kind of trouble, it sounds like it ain't gonna be her kids fault, no matter what anyone says. Me, I'm just the opposite. If something happens, I just assume Josh did it. I know that's bad, but he can be a little hellion.

Good evening everyone, I've just read about 10 pages and it looks like there have been a few QOTS's since I went to bed so here goes:
Allergies: No food allergies but I am allergic to nylon and dust (seriously, no joke!)
Favourite flower: Lillies
DH's height: 5 ft 10
Worn braces: I had a removeable brace when I was about 13. I needed a fixed one but could not as I was taking high level trumpet exams at the time and would not have been able to play with braces on!
Glasses: Never needed them.
Flipping the bird: Not sure that I've ever done that

So how are people getting on with their swap items? I've got 2 of mine sorted, I'll try to get the third sorted this evening.
ohanafamily will you PM us with the address to send them to? I guess I will have to post mine sooner than everyone else as it will take about a week to get to you! Plus I'm heading to DLP on April 10th!!!!

So anyone have good plans for this evening? I'll do a bit of house work, perhaps start to think about gathering things together ready for the holiday and finish sorting out my last item for the swap.
Have a good evening everyone.

Me neither. I grew up in a swearing house, just ask llebrekniT. We weren't allowed to swear, but at some point the 'rents didn't say anything when we did. There wasn't a certain age, but I'm sure they were the most lenient on me as I am the youngest. DH was never allowed to swear. DMIL has loosened up & her youngest gets away with a whole lot more than DH ever did. I guess it is good that I married DH since I let a lot more slide than he does. His biggest thing is respect. He gets really upset with Josh if he is disrespectful. He is a really good dad. Yep, I picked a good one.

I know.

There will be other kids who my DS gets in trouble with, I don't know if it's better that it would be my friends kids or others? I don't think mine is an angel either, he just isn't into swearing at age 5.

Okay, time to leave the office. This is Hunter's last day of basketball. The team is going to Friendly's for ice cream afterwards. :Pinkbounc I think I may have to join in on the fun. How about a Reeses Peanut Butter Cup Sundae?

This is the last sport of the school year. My rule is no sports over the summer! No religious ed classes either! No planned activities at all! Whoopee. They can do outdoor soccer again in late August. They do have their six weeks of half-days at playground time, but that ends up being my summer daycare. Bus picks them up at 8:15 and drops them off at 12:15. If you've never tried taking a summer vacation from taxi driving, I highly recommend it. :D

Josh doesn't swear either. He'll bust you if you say Stupid or Shut up. Here's a funny story. We were at my mom & dad's last year & my dad was watching a Notre Dame football game on TV. Well, as you probably can guess, the game was not going well. My dad cusses at the TV every couple of minutes. Josh just keeps playing & doing whatever. Then, my dad yells at the TV "what a STUPID play". Well, Josh jumps up & says "pa, don't say that word". We just died laughing as he never flinched when dad said real swear words.

Bichon Barb, have a sundae for me too!!

DBF and I do curse when we're together,a no censor rule is in effect when it's only us

I was sooo beat yesterday that I sounded like Yosemite Sam... sissafrasssafriggaconfarnitshiloinabeechnutbubblegumtree...... around the boys. When hubby got home and the boys went to bed it was like... Go @#$% your &$%#* and @$%&#$%@ @#%%&#@ ##^# while you're at it.

Uh huh, he can't say those words either. I understand. Those words are his idea of bad words, the way I'd like to keep it for a bit.

No real allergies, but I tell people I'm allergic to pork. As ohanafamily said before, it's kind of a religious thing - at least it started out that way. At this point in my life I think I'd get sick if I ate any.

Oh darn! I guess I won't be including any Smithfield hams in my swap package! Naaahh....they were too expensive anyway...but it is one of our local products...

Don't you just hate her? Ugghh...next thing you know someone on here will be saying they just can't seem to gain any weight because they forget to eat...GRRRRR

(Just Kidding, llebrekniT. In case you can't tell, I'm completely jealous! In fact, I'm sitting here squinting through my glasses trying to read the screen because I've had to ditch the contacts to rest my eyes a bit. I HATE glasses, although DH thinks they're cute on me. Been wearing them since I was 8 years old...got contacts at 12, but every now and then have to rest the eyes. I see much better with contacts, especially since I actually keep that prescription up-to-date!! As fpr braces. no, but I needed them. Just figure I'm too old now. Did wear a Herbst appliance (to make my recessed jaw grow) and a palate widener for 2 years in high school...ouch and gross! Wanted to take a break before the braces, but just never went back for them. Guess I should have, but oh well....)

Back then they could only give me hard contacts for my astygmisomethingorother and I hated them. Made it feel like my eyeballs were being sucked outa my head! I've stuck with glasses so far but DH is trying to talk me into getting extended wear. I'm still thinking about it.

Go for it! I wear the Acuvue Toric (for astigmatism) in one eye and it's just as comfortable as the other eye. Both are soft. They're so comfortable is why I get in trouble...I forget to take them out when I'm supposed to
