That's funny you asked that Lewski. They are 10 and 8. Wednesday night, I was supposed to meet my friend at 6:00 p.m. At 5:55 DH was not home, so I called his cell phone. He was down the street at the grocery store. I lectured the kids about not answering the door, not horsing around, etc., gave them my cell phone number and Rob's. Then I locked them in the house and took off. Rob called me when he got home. It was only about 15 minutes, but all I could see where the next day's headlines: "Boys hurt after being left alone while mom was at the pub".
I've left Eric for a few minutes here and there to run over to the pharmacy. I actually think it is good for him to give him some responsibility here and there.
Anyway, our neighbor (who is also friends with Eric and Hunter) is babysitting them. Kenny will be 14 in July. We are good friends with Kenny's parents, who live four houses down. So, if he needed help, his parents are right there.
My nephew, who is now 28, was a latchkey kid. His mom raised him on her own. They lived in St. Louis, and my brother lived here in Syracuse. (My brother, who passed away in January of 2001, was a paranoid schizophrenic. He and David's mom divorced when David was a baby.)
Here I go again getting off track. My point is that David started taking care of himself after school until his mom got home from work at the age of 11!!! I think that's really young, but hey, David turned out to be a great young man.
Speaking of kids, ugh, I've got to get out of here before the bus gets home.
Chow for now.
