Greetings Ohana....

Good to be here, just going to kick back and relax. Hope this place is as tropical and soothing as it is advertised to be!

I'm a 9th grade Algebra teacher, right outside Charlotte, NC. I'm originally from Pittsburgh, PA though, but you probably figured that out, huh?

Going to Disney in 32 days...quite a nice reward for a hard school year's work!

Hi to everyone else, too!

hyzdufan ---It looks like NC week in WDW---NC Beast and I are driving down in less than 32 days from now--cadburysmom and her son will be there too.

Aw man! Say it isn't so!!!! I was looking forward to meeting you. bummer.

I'm glad you are still going though, & at least you get to see Rick again. I know he'll be happy when he sees your post tomorrow.

Welp, I'm off to bed. Have a great night everyone!

oddball27, sorry I missed you tonight. Maybe I'll catch ya tomorrow. Be good!

We've found a few cool places to eat but we seem to rely too much on the regular chain restaurants. We keep saying we're gonna experiment a little more. I'm sure we will as we start to feel more settled. They've just sort of been something we knew while everything else going on was new to us. You know what I mean?
HuggaBaloo Have you tried Buca di Bepo yet? It's Italian. It's AWESOME!! So good! But be sure to take a few friends as they do not know how to serve single portions. Everything comes out in HUGE bowls and you share family-style. Their "small salad"....made the mistake of thinking it was a side salad. NOT! It serves 4-6!! We ate at the one in Colorado Springs, but hope to try the one in Orlando on our trip! That reminds me...gotta look up exactly where it is....

please come over and not leave iluvtink nakey too much longer---oh and thank you in advance. I missed talking to you iluvtink --last time you were in the bushes at the AYCU lunch.

Well, just catching up before I head to bed.

Hey llebrekniT!! How DARE you only send one of those!?!?! That was oh so yummy! I shared with my DH (just a smidge) since he likes that kind of chocolate, but I must say...the filling...mmmmmmmmmmmmmm :) Thanks for my afternoon chocolate fix :teeth: (How much do I have to beg to get some more of those babies???)

ohanafamily Hope I didn't give away too much. I'm not going to tell folks anyway, as it might spoil surprises, and I have no idea what other people got/gave as special to a particular person, you know? Nearly all of mine were the same, but I know lots of folks had done "specials" so I don't want to speak out of turn.... If I did anyway, please consider me properly reprimanded :( ;)

Oh, and sorry my box was full....but I think I can get email through the site....will check and try to empty my box....just have lots of info on moving to Tampa in there and need to save it elsewhere...

I need to vent for just a minute...

You know how I got the job as a Disney vacation planner? Well, I actually got the idea from working with Dreams Unlimited, and from my best friend here, whose cousin has an agency in another town. Her cousin has asked her to join her business, because up til now she has had a telephone/e-mail Disney travel service with no web site. She is putting up a website to get more business, hence the need for a new employee.

My friend just sees this is a fun job she can do from home, but she is not by any means enamored with Disney. She hasn't been since she was in high school with her chorus for Music Days, and when her College of Disney Knowledge stuff came, she didn't open the envelope for two weeks. Y'all know me well enough to know that when my CDK package came, I opened it in the driveway and started reading about it all. I took the WDW and DCL and DL tests before reading the course material just to see how I'd do, and I only missed 3 out of 60! I'll be done with the course in a couple of days.

Anyway, I am bending over backward trying not to "steal" any of her potential business... because I don't want to jeopardize the friendship. That's why I affiliated with a Nashville agency. When we were over at their house the other night, her DH said something like, "well, it looks like you all will be in fierce competition in a couple of months." My response was, "how is that possible when I am working out of Nashville? I was hoping we could use each other's expertise to bounce questions off each other, etc. I am not going to compete here." It is apparent that they have been talking about me doing this and feel threatened, and it hurts my feelings because I told her specifically I wasn't going to advertise at school or in the area at all. Obviously if my next door neighbor wants me to book a trip, I will, but I'm not looking for business here.

The thing that I can't get over is that six weeks ago, I was trying to decide on a link for my agency's website to put Disney business to me. I had decided "pixiedust@bellemeadevacations.com," and had done a trademark/servicemark search on the US official trademark site, and it didn't show up there. Saturday night, my friend said, "did I tell you what my cousin is going to call her website??? It's going to be pixiedust .com." I could have died and I'm so sad. As much PD as we have flying around here, I really wanted to use it. And now I can't because she's already using it.

If any of y'all have any ideas of something simple to remember and type (not bibbidibobbidiboo.com), let me know. Mouseears, small world, mousetyme and kingdommagic are all used up.

Okay, end of vent. I'm going to go back and read however many pages of posts I've missed this evening. Kids are in bed, DH is in Detroit, and I'm heading to the hot tub in my elephant ear leaves (they don't have fig leaves here, and they are too small, anyway). Hope some of y'all are there.

Sorry for the long vent. It's not nearly as serious as having an a** for a SIL, but it made me feel better!

 iluvtink

Some people just don't understand the meaning of working for acheiving a dream...I was wondering where you were hiding:D .

I was thinking of doing a course like what you are doing...I was looking up sites yesterday for someone for the Annapolis area. It sounds cool to plan vacations. I know you are going be a smashing success. :sunny:

Okay, who's here now?

NC Belle, thanks for the claps tonight, and to you other friends, as well, who are tired (or scared) of seeing me nakey. I'm sure the tag fairies will visit me in their own sweet time. Like my momma says, "a watched pot never boils." I'm not watching ... just looking every once in a while to see if I'm boiling yet.

kadaten - You are sooo mean! I was already curious about the swaps, now with your little yummy hints, I am dying to know what you are talking about. I bet if Bichon Barb did my Sagitarrius with whatever moon and stars are rising, it would say that surprises make me nuts ... I just can't stand suspense. Can't see suspense movies at all... waiting for the mailman is almost as bad!

hyzdufan, welcome to the Island. There's Graeter's ice cream in the freezer ... all flavors ... it's an Ohio speciality... ever had any? Please help yourself. I have a 9th grader who has been struggling in algebra for part of this year. Right now they are doing something she really understands, which is great. She doesn't understand that she has to study and that it's not the teacher's fault if she doesn't do well. She's smart enough that she's always learned by osmosis and without cracking books. A new day is dawning, and she's not fond of this new concept of studying!

Hey backatcha, NC Belle. This will be the coolest job ever... because it will never seem like it's a job. Well, maybe when I have to set my alarm this summer to get up at 6:50 to call WDW-Dine for CRT ressies for clients. That would be under the "work" category. But other than that ... it's gonna be grand. I just talked to my son and he said his boss (who has $$$$) loves Disney and used to be my Katie's soccer coach in Nashville, and that I'm supposed to call them because they want to plan a big trip for 20 people!!! My heart just starts pitter-pattering for them, thinking of all the possibilities. I want to try to talk them into taking that 2-week cruise next May when they take the Magic from Port Canaveral over to California, or when it comes back in August. We can't afford to do it, of course, but I'd love to be able to plan the trip for someone who was, and then hear all about it first hand.

You'd be great at it, too, I'm sure. In order to save a lot of start-up costs, you might want to look into affiliating with an agency in your area. Do you work with any travel agencies on your trips? My agency just randomly gives Disney calls to different agents. Once I prove I know my stuff, they will put me in the rotation to receive them, and I hope ultimately they will just give them all to me... even if I can't be pixiedust.com...:sad1:

iluvtink, GRRRRRRRR
You Didn't know that your DSIL was named Nancy-Pants.... How about something simple like, I dunno.. iluvtink@ or Magick@ or DMagick@ or DisPlanner@. I will try to sleep on it and figure some more for you...I Guess I_AM_TICKED_AT_NANCY_PANTS@ is taken? or MMouse@ or Visit_Mouse@ or Will_Work_For_Disney_Travel.. or Rgistered_Disney_Travel_Agent@, or Disney_Travel_Specialist...

OK, I'm going to beddie Bye....

AND tolerated Lewski's Tag Brag, I'm still tag-challenged and monochromatic as ever.. :sad2:

BTW, welcome to the Island, Tink_sparkles!!! This is a really nice and fun bunch of folks, if you can manage to stay around and get to know them. (They can be a little strange, but I don't think any of them are axe murderers.) What age pre-school do you teach?

Sorry it took me so long to reply! I am a 3 year old teacher. Last year I taught the 4 year olds. I don't plan on moving down any lower though! 3-4 is a good age group I think.

Oh! And just so the Tag Fairy knows, I'm not begging anymore! Promise! I will wait and be suprised! Happily suprised! :)

Also, if anyone was wondering, I'm 19. I'll be 20 in September.

ohanafamily

I just luv ya!

BTW, she's just a friend, not a DSIL, fortunately. But I don't have that many good friends here, since we've just been here two years, so I need to keep her! It's all just so weird, 'cuz I think she knows that I will thrive as a Disney vacation planner, and she won't, because it's not in her blood!

You just keep those little wheels turning while you snooze. If you think of some more good ones in the middle of the night, be sure and write them down so you don't forget!!!

Sweet dreams of all things chocolate and Disney.

:) iluvtink

iluvtink --I just decided to look into it---I have been doing most of my own planning for our next trip, but we are using Dreams Unlimited in some of the planning.

iluvtink .com sounds good--or
justatouchofpixiedust.com?

Whew, you are a special person, indeed. I do love children that age, but dealing with a passle of them at once takes incredible patience, I think. Do your little girls always get mad and say, "well, you can't come to my party!" That was the big line in my two DD's pre-school from age 2 until they left at age 5!!! :p

I like both of those... I actually had thought of using iluvtink. Part of the problem is that Disney is so picky about its trademarks... I read yesterday that I can't even put "Disney Specialist" or anything like that on my business cards! It's okay to put in advertisements, as long as the Disney sales rep in the area approves the ad. Maybe ohana, my everflowing source of random knowledge will have an answer about that.!

EEk, I just looked at my countdown, and it says almost 90 days!!! Time to get those PS engines revving.. we want 24 seats at Cindy's breakfast...:rotfl: :rotfl: My DU agent is at DL right now on a FAM trip, and the guy she asked to call for us told her that we have asked for the impossible. I say nothing is impossible when magic is involved. Nevertheless, DU is making PS's for us at Donald's Breakfastosaurus, which is my second favorite breakfast for the first morning, and at the Princess Storybook breakfast (Norway) for the second morning. Then I'm going to have every adult in our party who has a phone or cell phone available try to call and get CRT. Who knows, we might get lucky!!! Group dining told me we had just as good a chance of getting ressies as anyone else. Do you thank that was just spin on their part??? :confused3

So sorry to hear your friend took your idea. What about TrueMagic@ or MagicalDreams@ or MagicalMemories@ or WishUponAStar@ or WishComeTrue@. Whatever you come up with, I'm sure it will be better than your friend's. And you'll definitely do better than her, too!
