Good morning, TAGLIKINS,
First of all, major hugs, PD, and sympathy to you and the boy's family, Mad4Mickey. Been there done that twice ... first with good friends whose son was driving alone and hit and killed by a drunk driver, then a couple of years later, when Chris was a senior, one of his band friends was changing a radio channel, hit a telephone pole, which came down on his best friend in the front seat. The driver had a broken wrist, the friend's parents' had to make the same decision your friends did. It was heartbreaking. If it's not too personal, can I ask if he was an organ donor? My first cousin is alive today because the parents of one of the girls killed in the Paducah shootings donated her organs and he got her lungs. If you'll PM me their address, I'd really like to send a sympathy card ... and let me know if mentioning the organ donation is a good idea ... if it doesn't apply or isn't appropriate, I won't mention it.
I live in fear that I'll get a phone call like that one day. I remember feeling so powerless when Chris got his drivers license, and I firmly believe we are putting lethal weapons in the hands of children at age 15/16. (Do I belong on the DB???)
Kelley is eligible to get her permit at age 15.5, which is on September 1. She'll be driving for at least a year on permit with us before she gets her license, and maybe longer.
oops, Toby is whining ... I must do the dog walking thing... BRB!
