Hey everyone!
I'm just getting the chance to check in. Just got done talking to my brother who is coming down with his girlfriend's family this Saturday and staying through next Friday. He wants us to go to the Cinco de Mayo celebration at PI with them. Sounds fun, but I'm a workin' man and DP starts school on Seis de Mayo, so I think we're gonna have to pass. But I'm sure we'll get together a few times while they're down here. I don't know his girlfriend very well but I know she's a huge Disney fan so she's OK in my book! Actually, she may even be on the DIS...hey, it could be one of you guys!
Thanks everyone for being so sweet and thoughtful. I really appreciate all the nice comments and thinking about me even though I had to bow out of the swap. I promise I'll participate if/when we do this again.
The job is pretty stressful and my opinion of it changes almost on a daily (sometimes hourly) basis. They brought me in to fix some problems in HR (basically as a consultant), but I'm worried that their problems are so advanced I won't be able to "save the day" like they expect me to. So I'm constantly stressed and anxious because I'm in a majorly high-profile position (which I'm not really used to). But, it is only a six-month contract, so I'm keeping my eye out for other opportunities.
On a positive note...we LOVE our apartment! We got new furniture (the first furniture I've owned that didn't have to be put together...hey look, I'm an adult!!!). We've even done a little painting.

I'm not sure what happened but my "design gene" that "my people" are supposedly all born with suddenly and unexpectedly surfaced during all of this.
DP became quite alarmed at one point when I suggested that a particular accessory in Pier 1 (no less) would go perfectly with the color in the bedroom. I was picking out table lamps, paint colors, plants, prints for the walls...it was CRAZY! It was like I found my inner Thom Filicia (you know, from "Queer Eye")!!
ohanafamily, we'd love to meet you guys when you come down. I need to take a look at the schedule for everyone to see when everyone is going to be down. Looks like we're gonna have a busy social calendar!

And now that our apartment is pretty close to being in order, DP says we can start having company (he's very proud

).
