Haha sooo....many....dancing....bananas :rotfl:

.....

No no no, hon....if you're going to be one of us, you need to get the lingo down: it's BABNANA! (note the extra "b") :lmao:

I don't remember the exact origin of our spelling it that way, but we do. So much so, matter of fact, that I find myself spelling it that way outside of the DIS!!

Smileybug do you remember what started the babnana thing?

.

Ooh I see you have a TR! I'm so there!

Enjoy! And welcome!

So, can I just tell you, if you want to be thoroughly spoiled on your birthday, tell everyone you DON'T want to celebrate it.

I'm not happy about my birthday this year. I'm turning 29 today. I can only seem to see it as the END of my 20's. It's to the point that I was totally depressed last night and in tears on my ride home. I'll be just fine with turning 30 next year because it'll be the BEGINNING of something, ya know? So, when my friends and coworkers and boyfriend asked what I wanted, what I wanted to do, I definitively answered, "NOTHING." And meant it.

Well, my boss came in with a pretty autumn arrangement and a birthday card from the group.
Then, around 10:30 a.m. I get a call from Reception to pick this up:

Yup. From the boyfriend.

Then, about a half an hour ago:

Also from the boyfriend.
Who has EXCELLENT listening skills, no?

I have to say this - I'm very thankful. While I wanted to just pout today and ignore turning a year older, so many people have gone out of their way to make me feel special and loved.

So, anyone in the area want to come by and help me eat that thing?! It's HUGE! The chocolate covered apple slices are particularly delish.

Happy birthday! That looks so tasty! I'll remember to tell everyone that I want nothing

No joke. I was in no way trying to employ reverse psychology or anything. I wanted NOTHING and meant it. But it's really hard to be angry when your desk smells like strawberries and roses.

You're in St. Pete right? So, a little over 1200 mi., I'd guess. (I'm in MA.)

Speaking of St. Pete, we were in Tampa at the end of our vacation and my friend's brother-in-law was talking about the area and he said, "Oh yeah. And then there's St. Pete. Where all the old people in the US go to die." It's TERRIBLE, but it totally made me laugh out loud, just once.

Awww. Fanks.

Thanks to that stupid movie "Cocoon" we're always known as "Heaven's Waiting Room." While we do have a high amount of retirees, it's no where near what it used to be. Lots of younger families are moving in, older people are "moving out", or unable to afford to live here anymore.

Yeah, the market sounds really tough down there. The BIL was saying that in lots of Tampa communities, the foreclosure rate has been around 1 in 3. A good friend of his list about $120K in value on his home in the past year.

So sad. :(

Tink... sounds like you are having an awesome day in a non celebrating kinda way. :tinker: HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

LegoMom...I told ya'll one day that for some reason everytime I spelled banana I add that extra "B". Ya'll picked up on it and ran with it. So...the birth of the "babnana" I guess is shared by all of us. :rotfl:

I think we ran with that due to the abundance of these little beauties in our posts!
