Since we are talking about the storm. One good thing that seems to be happening is more people are taking this seriously and leaving. NO seems to be doing a good job getting people out and into state funded shelters. For this I am very thankful.

The 28th. While many hated the castle when it was done up for the 25th anniversary, I loved it. It was my own personal 25th birthday castle cake, minus the calories. Now to think that was almost 12 years ago is scary.
:rotfl2:

I saw pictures of the b-day cake castle and I thought it was quite ugly. :rotfl2: Glad you liked it and found it special.

I barely slept at camp last night. Some jerk left their dogs out barking for hours. :headache: How RUDE and INCONSIDERATE. They finally let them in around 2am.

I'm getting ready to head back to my camp. Good luck to those in the path of the storm. Scary.

LegoMom...Just wanted to give you a heads up (in case you haven't heard yet) that it looks like the bounce back offer is being offered now for next year. The dates are sometime in Aug. to sometime in Oct. (sorry, I forgot the actual dates :upsidedow ) You could always book it. And then cancel if needed later on. :thumbsup2

Its pretty easy, three or four on-line reservations and poof, done!

a few follow up calls for dining and so on and thats about it!

I would love to see you, kimmar and a few others do Disney together. I'm sure the place would never be the same again. Ya'll seem to take fun with you no matter where you go. :goodvibes

How are things looking for those of you nearer to the gulf coast? I ran to the gas station this afternoon to top off my tank. The price of gas jumped up 4 cents between yesterday afternoon and this afternoon. I just remember gas flying up after Katrina and thought if I had one tank ready to go, I'd be in good shape.

That being said, my heartfelt prayers are going out to those people on the Gulf Coast.

Thanks for the update. :goodvibes Tell me once again...with where you live would you be affected by a hit on the NC coast?

Probably not NC, but if a storm hits the SC coast anywhere North of Charleston, we are in for trouble. When Fran came through several years back, we were without power for 2 weeks! Hugo left my aunt without power for 3 weeks (we lived closer to Columbia then). Our problem is mostly the chance of tornados and torrential downpours. We live extremely close to designated wetlands. Last week, it rained real hard here and I could not get out of my driveway and dh's truck was buried at work up to the doors. To give you some idea where I am, most of you who travel I-95 know where South of the Border is. I am 20 min EAST of South of the Border.

I know where you are. I am between you and Charleston. Just closer to Charleston. (We are about 33 miles off the coast) I was just asking because it looks like we may be looking at some interesting weather later this week with Hanna. It's looking like a landfall from FL to NC. Then right behind her is a system that should be named soon. (Ike) His models as of now (you know how that changes) are aiming for the East Coast as well.

We live near wet lands as also. We are just fortunate enought to be on a hill. We were in the area for Hugo. Hubby says we will stay again.:confused3

The location in your avatar confused me. Sorry about that.

I have a feeling I know where you are, too. I was born in Charleston. We live about 2 miles in NC along the NC/SC border. DH works in Dillon County, SC; I work in Marion County, SC. Hanna is concerning me a little, but I am more worried about Ike. DH said when he went through Florence on Friday, gas was 3.48/gallon. Today in Dillon County, it was 3.53

I haven't noticed any changes here yet. But I haven't been anywhere to check. On one hand you kind of want to do a little stock piling of things. But on the other hand you just aren't sure what to do. :confused3 I guess I have been doing some without really thinking about it.

Has South of the Border done any refurbishing? The last i saw that place it was looking pretty bad. And I think that is a real shame. It has been such a tourist attraction for so long.

South of the Border has done little to no refurbishment. Most people in Dillon County would be glad to see it close--it has become the biggest area in the county for drug and gang involvement. The Schaefer fellow, who started most of it, died several years back. It started going downhill then. It is a shame.

Have you been up 95 recently? Take a look at the South of the Border sign that says, "Your sheep are all counted. . ." and the sheep spins around. Somebody has decided to target practice with that sign. It's funny and not so funny at the same time.
