Hi. I feel like crap. Hope you guys are feeling better than I am right now.

Hey SadieDog :goodvibes Sounds like you need to stay in all weekend and take care of yourself.

I am so glad that the new safety procedures worked. But on the other hand... It is just so sad that we have come to the point of needing them to protect our children. :sad2:....

I was thinking the same thing earlier. We had the shock of our lives coming from NH to FL....DS12's middle school looked more like a prison with all the chain-link fencing around the grounds. It was awful. When the elementary school in NH went into lockdown one year, it was because a Black bear had wandered into town and was hanging out in the playground!

Okay.....so tell me how many miles you are from Disney. (exactly) :rotfl:

According to Google mapping, we're 1,063 miles to the WDW main gate! That's a perfect 2-day drive. I'm so excited I can finally do a trip to Fort Wilderness with the camper!! And it's so weird, since coming to TX, we get all excited over seeing a Disney commercial on TV or the like again....something about being just far enough away that I can/need to plan a week's trip!

Aww...SadieDog :grouphug: Hope you're better real quick.

Hi All. Happy Friday!

HI DO!!!
...

.

Happy evening ya'll. :goodvibes

DO....What have you been up to?

LegoMom...You will have all kinds of trips planned now. :rotfl:

Talking about the state of our schools... We have armed guards at our church . They wear suits. But you know who they are by the way they stand and the ear piece that is in place. Church of all places. :sad2:

Happy weekend ya'll. :grouphug:

Hey, everyone. I'm not at all caught up, but I wanted to let you know I'm here! That little cold/allergy something or other turned into a nasty cold/flu that I've been going to work with all week. My supervisor actually gave me today off, bless her. I know I look dead on my feet, I finally got some sleep last night, and I'm thinking a nap today would do me just fine. Right now, I've got a wicked sore throat, congestion, and swollen glands. It started as a fever and chills, so I guess I'm making progress. :lmao:

I hope you're all doing much, much, much better than I am. :goodvibes

Smileybug, a guard at church? That is wicked crazy. Our school survellience system in school is awesome. Apparently on the day it happened, he was caught on camera. They took a screen shot and sent it by email to the officials in the surrounding school districts because it was obvious he was under age. Within 30 minutes they had a positive identification from Horry County schools (Myrtle Beach area, but this was nearby Green Sea-Floyds High School) as a student of theirs who was expelled in the prior school year. For bringing a gun on campus. My question is why he did not face charges for that.

Our district is pressing full charges. we don't take that kind of junk at all. We even press charges against parents who threaten teachers or come up to the school cursing at staff. Our superintendent feels that we should all behave as professionals, but we should also be treated as such. He hasn't always been my favorite all the time, but no one ever gets 100% approval from everyone.

TK--so sorry you are feeling bad. You rest up--you still have lots and lots and lots of planning to do, missy!

Ok, call me late to the party (I plead lack of Internet for 10 days!)...but creativeamanda, when did you book a Christmas trip???!!!...

LOL, when they released free dining for Christmas! We have the MVMCP tickets, our ADR day is Sept 18, and just about everything is planned. Good thing, too, as work has been crazy!

Holy cow, you know it must be bad for Disney when they offer Free Dining on such a major holiday...:sad2:

Well, it's good for YOU!! :thumbsup2

Well, the offer officially ends on Dec 17, but if your trip starts before the end, your entire trip is under the promotion. I'm still in school on Dec 17, so, I am certain I won't be feeling too well on Dec 17 and 18. Doesn't matter anyway--they are 1/2 days and my students don't come on half days.

Thanks for the well wishes, guys!

LOL on the lots of planning, creativeamanda. :lmao:

I took a really nice nap this afternoon, so between that and my huge amount of sleep last night, I almost feel good. I have no voice though, which is the irony of it all. Actually, it reminds me of when I got sick on my September Disney trip last year. Felt better, no voice. :lmao:

Good thing you don't need a voice to talk to us. :goodvibes

Hi TK! Doing fine here. How are you feeling today?....

.

I'm feeling much better, thanks. Been getting lots of sleep. :thumbsup2

So, I totally need to catch up, but I just wanted to say, how are you liking Texas? :goodvibes

So I've been on the computer for the last hour pricing out options for our next Disney trip....:rolleyes1

I made all sorts of comparisons and camping without any sort of dining plan is going to be our least expensive option. I'm allowing for one meal out in the parks per day. This is going to be a more relaxed trip anyway, and we plan to spend considerable time at the Fort. Since we're driving over, I can run out to Walmart once we get set up and get groceries for the week.

Anyway, I want to know why, mentally, I have a harder time wrapping my brain around doing it this way than booking a package?! I think it's because when I book a package, I can pay it off in little chunks. Whereas doing it this way, I can pay off the campsite one night at a time if I want, but I have to have a big chunk of change all at once to buy our tickets!! By next fall we'll be up to FOUR ADULT tickets, people!!:faint:

This will probably be the last family trip for a while. Next one after that is for DH and I alone, for the 20th anniversary. Animal Kingdom Lodge, baby!:thumbsup2

I love it here! I will say, it's amazing how quickly you get used to 100-degree heat... It's SO dry here, though. I love my little homestead. Getting settled and fixing things up how I like them.

I think that sounds like a great plan. I know how you feel. I have such a hard time envisioning our next family trip as not including any dining plan, which means I'll have to budget and save and not have "everything" paid off in advance, so it's definitely weird.

Have you thought of separating out the purchase of the tickets? Maybe 1 at a time? Because they're not active until you use them, you could get them from one of the discounted sites, you know? Just an idea.
