Tablet PC question

Does anyone own a tablet PC? I'm considering a Gateway CX200 but would like to hear pros and cons. DH and I have read many reviews but I'd love to know about the voice recognition capabilities.

We have a tablet, it is not my main computer, so to me it is just a fun thing to use. It is also a couple years old as it was a 1st generation tablet so my pros and cons may be different from someone who has a newer version.

I like that you can write in your own handwriting and that it can read it and convert it to text or send in the email. my handwriting is not the best sometimes, so that is a big thing for me. This makes email more personal to me, something I would send to a close friend.

I find that if I want to surf the web I would rather use a mouse then the stylus as it is just easier for me. I am not sure if it is due to my lack of knowledge or not but it seems that when I try to point and click with the stylus it does not work all the time. It is just easier to use the mouse.

I find that for places you need to take notes like class or a meeting it is wonderful as you dont disturb everyone with your typing.

Things I dont like: Cost although I do hear that it is going down. The version we have is like a regular laptop but the screen spins and locks over the keyboard to make the tablet. I have seen some others that it is just a tablet and if I remember right the keyboard can slide out? I thought that was a little nicer as it made the tablet thiner. Sometimes it can be hard to get the computer to respond to the stylus, I feel like I keep clicking and clicking and the computer does nothing.

All in all I like it, I would like to get a more recent version, maybe some day. My favorite thing is the Ink game that came with it. I can spend hours playing that. Hope this helps.
