Ok tell me the good, bad, ugly ... on the Tables in Wonderland. We are going with a group of 9 in January. I know all meals will go on our room and we can split up the cost among us. It sounds like it is is worth it---tell me your experiences.

For 9 people shouldn't have a problem with making it work for you.

The bad: you need to spend at least $500 to get your money back. Shouldn't have a problem with 9 people. Only good at a few CS restaurants. Good at most TS restaurants. Automatic 15% tip added to bill. (Grant it I'm usually a 20% so I save money sometimes if I don't add more.) Need to plan your dinner reservations and know where you want to eat to get the most out of it.

The good: alcohol is included. Most lounges in hotels are included also. It's good for a year so if you go back you can use it again. It's really not hard to spend $500 even for just 2 people. 2 dinners at a nice restaurant you will accomplish this.

Go to the TIW site and view all the restaurants and lounges and start planning. The more you know the easier it will be for you. DH and I stopped in Rose and Crown several times just for drinks and used the TIW card. Enjoy!

For that size group it should be a good investment, but it really depends on the length of the trip and how many TS you will do. The CS locations are at AK and some of the mod/value resorts. Check out the TIW website and figure out if you will spend at least the $500 that makes it worth it. Also, you will need to put everything on your bill, as they are not supposed to accept payment from other members of the party.

Alos, remember that the card is good for 13 months, so if you anticipate another trip within the next year, you can use the card for that trip, too.

We use TIW for more than the discounts. They have special dining events, which are pricey, but great fun. This Saturday we are going to a preview dinner for F&W.

Note that there are some blackout days system wide and a few new venue specific restrictions. V&A is leaving the program. Not all sit down restaurants at WDW are in the program. Those restaurants will probably take the smaller AP / DVC discounts.

More flexible for us then DDP. Better for guests who make non-resorts stay visits.

We are trying to figure out of TIW is for us. We are new to DVC ( joined in March) and already have 2 trips planned. Sept for 8 days and Jan for 3 days. We are a family of 3- myself, DH and dd(2.5) we also have my mil and fil coming along for both trips as well. I understand we all have to be on the same check to get the discount, etc. I know nobody can answer but will we spend $500 on food? We already said we are eating breakfast in our villa every morning in sept but do plan on doing a character breakfast In January for Dd bday. Other than that's it's up in the air. As of now we already have 3 ADR for sept trip and all the restaurants are on the list.

The TIW discount includes beverage (and alcohol). If unsure look at the bill for a nice dinner out at home (before tax and tip). How many do you need to hit the $500 break even? Will you have that many sit down dinners at WDW over a year?

We often have a drink or two on vac while at dinner. I will pull the menus of the places we have booked for ADR so far and see where we are at price wise.. Rough estimate of course

Also consider that many places give 10 percent off for DVC or Disney Visa, although I don't think this includes alcohol and sometimes it only includes entrees (Yak and Yeti).

So you'll have 4 adults on both trips.

Where will you eat? Check out menus and prices here at wdwinfo.com, or at allears.net. See what you'll be doing.

I have a family of 3; we don't eat desserts generally at WDW (ingredient issues), only I drink alcohol and that's rarely, and we're vegetarian so we're generally not ordering the expensive items on a menu. And even when DS was 6.5 and not eating anywhere near as much as he is now, we hit the savings mark on our TIW card during our first trip.

It's easy to think it's only a few counter service places, but it's all the Value resort foodcourts (AOA is our fave for the veggie burger and DS LOVES the caprese sandwich), the foodcourt at SSR, the foodcourt at POFQ, and the counter service places inside Animal Kingdom park. That's not just a few, depending on your plans.

We generally have one TS a day, a CS per day, and the rest of our food is from the fridge, and yet we hit the savings point pretty easily.

Bonus, the CS places, of course, don't have the autogratuity added on, since they aren't tipping places.

Also, while the tip for TS is added pre-discount (as it should be), the TAX is added post-discount. So that's nice. :)

I am a Florida Resident and have FL Resident Seasonal Passes and have been using the Tables in Wonderland discount card the last 3/4 years. A few years ago I looked at our dinning trends when at Disney and it calculated out for us that after 6/7 dinners for two we pretty much break even. Since we usually take 2 - six day trips a year (sometimes 3) eating out 6/7 times at Disney in a year is typical. My calculations were based on a 22% savings per dinner - 20% discount and a 2% tip savings based on the automatic 18% charged when I would normally pay 20%. So I will continue to purchase TIW cards as long as they are $100 for pass holders.

Yes correct, 4 adults on both trips. So far we have ADR at Boma, Saana and Raglan road. No character br this trip but we will in January. We do a mixture of Ts and Cs too. Some days just one or the other.

What counter service places are included in Tables of Wonderland?

  • Restaurantosaurus
I think I got all of them.

We used it for a trip with 9 family members. One meal at Bongo's paid for the card. If you drink alcohol with your meal, eat at least 1 TS a day, and hit a few lounge's on a trip, you will save money. Also, if you plan multiple trips in a year (card last for about 13 months, expires the next month you purchase the following year.)

If you go during the holidays (blackouts), it may decrease savings. Overall, trip with 2 (me and DW) and family of 6 over the last year, I figured we saved 300-400 dollars over 2 trips, conservatively.

It is like other WDW things, planning helps.

I think the one thing that will surprise you most is how much the food will really cost you. 16 trips and I was shocked at how much we spent last year in 6 days for 2 adults....prob around 1500 for us.....but....I will say we ate all Table service meals, expensive dinners and had drinks at dinner every night. Our lunchs were 50-60 per day tho at the TS restaurants and we don't pig out ...just normal.

I used to budget $100 a day for food in the old days...this next trip I am figuring at least $200 per day for us for lunch/dinner/snacks. Breakfast is usually in our room too.

you can eat cheaper but any character meal will be $80+ for 3 of you and Hoop De Doo is now $60-70 per person. Castle character is around $100 for 3...you WILL spend more than $500 so be prepared so spend way more and then that way you won't be shocked at the bill

have fun and be prepared by reading allears.net and look at the menus to ideas of prices...it really helps as another posted mentioned :D
