Table for 6 plus a high chair

We’re visiting in September with a group of 5 adults, a 6 yr old and a 2 year old (who will be using a high chair). Can we book reservations for 6 and and just tell them about the high chair when we arrive? I’m guessing a table for 7 is harder to reserve. If it is a restaurant with a big booth, we probably wouldn’t even need the high chair. What do you think? This is the first time in almost 30 years we’re visiting with kids so we are re-learing WDW planning. Thanks

You need to account for everyone in your party when making reservations, including children in high chairs. Last May I went to Skipper Canteen and there was a party in front of me checking in that made a reservation for 8, but didn't include their baby in a high chair. They had to wait an additional hour for a table due to the extra person.

Yes, you should reserve for seven. Or you might have an easier time finding availability for eight. You won't be penalized for showing up with fewer people as long as someone shows up. And for whatever reason, the Disney system seems to function better and return more results when searching for an even-numbered party. That way you ensure you have the right-sized table, and the restaurant can keep track to ensure they are within the fire/occupancy codes. Hope you have a great trip!!

We had a one-yr old on our trip. We had to count him. (we booked for 7) 6 adults and baby. We also book "unpopular" restaurants so we didn't have trouble getting a table.

You have to add the toddler to the reservation. I ran into this issue last time I was there. It has something to do with were they place you to eat because some access is wider in certain spots. Luckily I was able to edit the rest of my reservations accordingly but that first reservation at Le Celier had me worried.

I agree, add the baby. Can cause problems if you don’t
Boy, did I find out about the problems the hard way! As a grandmother, I didn't know we had to count the baby when we made reservations, so I didn't. When we got there and asked the hostess for a high chair, she actually told us "You should have counted the baby when you made reservations. Then we would have had a high chair for you." She wasn't very nice about it. So I said "Sorry-guess I'll have to hold her in my lap, but now I know for next time." At that she just walked away. Fortunately the server came over at that moment with a big smile and said "And I see you need a high chair-I'll get you one right away!" A few seconds later, she returned with the high chair, and another server (or someone) who went over and had a little chat with our initial hostess. Hate problems!

Count the toddler in your count as you cannot block the table next to you by placing highchair at end of table. I would look for a table of 8 as they are usually easier to find than 7. And unless prepaid you won't be charged missing person. If prepaid make the 8 person under 2 and you will be charged

As others said, everyone needs to be counted. Even if it’s an infant too small for a high chair, or a toddler you say you’ll hold on your lap. It is the capacity of the restaurant that is being counted, not how many will be eating or need a seat.
