T-Rex without a Ressie

We ate there during the summer on a friday for an early dinner. I had a ressie that I made directly with the restaurant since there was no availabilty with Disney Dining Reservations.

It was PACKED. There were two lines. I also waited in the long line and then realized that I didn't need to. We stayed close to the check in and waited to be called.

I think Feb is different than summer, but the advatage of the DDP now could increase crowds. I doubt you can go very far after checking in. I don't even know if we got a pager or just a slip with our name. Can't remember.

I do know that before this next trip I'm joing the Landry's club. Why not? We're in Disney about twice a year and it's about time!;)

We've eaten at T-Rex 6 or 7 times (all before the DDP was accepted) and when you go can make a huge difference. We have generally walked up but did have reservations once. If you walk up, you get in line outside (to left of the entrance) and give your name at the podium. Once called, you go to the NEXT line at the podium inside and are seated from there. If you have a reservation, you can just go to the inside podium when you get there but there WILL be a line to wait in most of the time. We have arrived at 11am and been seated immediately on some occasions, in others, we have waited in a VERY long line (also at 11 am) just to get to the first podium. Dinner is usually busier than lunch.

To answer your other question, you can't really walk around the shops while you are waiting other than the one in the restaurant as they call your name when the table is ready (no pagers) and nothing else is particularly close.

As others have mentioned, the best way to get a reservation is to call. Very few reservations are available online.

Out of curiosity, I just tried to make an ADR for a party of 4 for dinner time on Feb 11 and there is no availability.

And for anyone else using the WDW dining phone # or website ...

Just call T-Rex directly. Only some tables are reserved for WDW dining...there are other tables available to other people.

I could not get a 7pm online and on the phone with WDW dining they said they were sold out for our evening in June 2012.

I called T-Rex... they found a pm for our family of 4, for our night in June.
My reservation is in my name and my cell phone #.. not a WDW dining ADR #.

Here is T-Rex phone #:
T-Rex – DTD 407-828-8739

Give them a call directly, they are open for lunch and dinner ...so I would try a bit of an off time to talk to someone when they are not busy, such as 11 am, 3 pm or 8 pm

It was actually confusing b/c there was this one long line & we weren't sure if we should wait in it or not since we had a ressie. We got in line & after about 10 min & the line not moving much, I went to ask. They said just come on up & check in, so I told Dh to get out of line. This was the 2nd weekend in Feb. 2010. Not sure if there have been changes or not, but I was shocked to see that line when WDW had low crowds all week. I found out from someone there that locals cannot make ressies & they would only give ressies to people from out of town as they have limited opportunity to eat there. So I was glad I had made ressies ahead of time.

Whomever told you that was mistaken. Anyone can make an ADR. As has been mentioned, it's better to call the restaurant directly. They hold a lot of their ADRs for those who book directly with the restaurant.

As far as making an ADR goes, I'm curious to see how DDP affects availability too. Regardless, we usually go on Saturday or Sunday. We often have guests who want to go, & we wait for my DH to be able to go with us. There's always a long wait for those w/o an ADR. It's common to wait an hour or more, & that was before they started accepting DDP. We have walked around waiting to be seated. We just make sure we're back in plenty of time, usually 15 mins. before the return time they give us.
