Does anyone know what type of pancake(waffle, french toast) syrup they have on board? My sister is a bit picky and likes her maple syrup. Thanks for any information

If she is looking for pure, they do not have it. I do not know what brand it is.

To tide me over, I forgot to pick up Cracker Barrel syrup, but a fellow diser who had extra in her cabinet was kind enough to pack what she had and delivered it to my stateroom in time for breakfast the first day.

So if she truly likes her maple, that's the best I can think of unless she chooses to pack a larger bottle purchased from the store.

Their syrup is the standard maple flavored corn syrup.

Picky is nice, but I hope she can leave it behind in general and revel in the many different types of food she'll find on DCL. What an opportunity!

They do have sugar free. And they have chocolate and strawberry. Yes, I travel with children, can you tell?

Picky about maple syrup is different than being a picky eater. I will try just about any food and love a varitey of ethnic foods, but I will NOT eat artificial maple syrup. Uh-uh...no way! It's thick and completely unappetizing to me. I am among those who bring my own maple syrup when I travel.

To the OP...previous posters are correct that DCL does not offer real maple syrup. As someone else mentioned, Cracker Barrel sells a nice-sized bottle that is great for traveling. Perhaps you can stop at one on your way to the port so you can avoid having to pack it in your luggage. If you do have to pack it make sure you wrap it well and put it in at least a couple of plastic bags. There would be nothing worse than finding a broken bottle of maple syrup in your luggage!

Happy sailing!

Does anyone know if the carry light corn syrup (Karo) on board?

Believe it or not, that is the only syrup my Dad will use on his pancakes, as he does not like maple syrup (crazy man!)

I don't mean to be rude--but artificially flavored syrup is hardly cuisine. I have an open mind when trying food. I'm not interested in fake stuff though.

I can't stand coffee and thus do not drink it, but I don't put down the "pickiness" of other cruisers who find nescafe or whatever disney serves to be down right revolting.

I don't believe so, but since it is common in making sweets, perhaps they have some in the kitchen (I presume that they do make a lot on board).

Otherwise, again, try to find the smallest bottle and pack it or just put some in a portable bottle and carry that to breakfast.

Pure Canadian Maple syrup will be on board IF you are traveling on my cruise and are part of the FE exchange, LOL.

are you guys amazing, or what!?!?

My wife thought I was a nut when I was looking at pictures people had posted from their cruises and in one of them and I said "Hey, that's the same honey mustard we really liked last summer at Disney World, Cool!" :lmao::rotfl2:

Wow. You all must have been raised in different households than I was! :rotfl2: When I was growing up it was "be happy there is food on the plate and eat it." My Dad was military (reserve) and we were always thrilled to go to the buffet at the Chief's club once in a blue moon. That kind of choice was heaven... but it would have never occurred to us to ask for something that wasn't on the buffet line.....

I've often thought that four types of sugars and sugar substitutes was bad (now there are five in many places), but IMO asking someone to find Karo syrup for pancakes is a little too picky. If that's the way you like it at home, then more power to you, but to put someone else out to go running around a ship's pantry to look for something seems a bit over the top to me. No flames, please, from the "it's your vacation, you paid for it" crowd. Yes, you paid for the vacation and DCL will provide the "generally accepted range of accompaniments and accoutrements" to complement the food choices. But, IMO, if you like grape jelly on your lamb chops at dinner it would be out of line to ask a server to go find it for you despite the fact that it is (somewhere) on board. You are taking a server away from his/her station and disrupting service for the rest of your table and all of their other tables for such a request.

Yes, you paid for a vacation but not for one that is 100% customized to whatever your whim is. Again, my opinion. Servers and the kitchen have enough issues dealing with legitimate allergies and food issues (celiac/diabetic/etc) than tastes and dislikes. If I like real maple syrup (which I do, by the way) on my waffles and there is none available then I just wouldn't eat waffles. I'd go to eggs. And I like tabasco on my eggs but if there's none readily available then I'd be fine with that. :flower3:

My partner brings his own maple syrup in a container when we go out to breakfast. I am not so picky! But I certainly do understand.
I think fruit on top would be a welcome change.

I bet the kitchen uses artificial Maple flavor. Even IHOP doesn't have real Maple Syrup anymore (even when they did have it, you had to ask for it because it wasn't on the table).
We use nothing but real Maple at home, and when eating out I usually use one of the fruit syrups just so it is a change from home. I think Disney would go bankrupt if they offered real maple syrup since kids tend to throw away more pancake syrup than they eat.
It runs about $1.05 an ounce in the store here for Vermont grown, and once in a while you can get the Canadian Maple syrup on sale for 85 cents an ounce, but only if you buy the 32 ounce bottle for $27+:scared1:
