SWS flights - what would you do?

Sayhello, the Visa offer was specific. I went to the link they sent and entered a code and from the code it recognized me. I usually use my Disney Visa only for Disney trips or if I'm trying to build up points for a trip and we didn't do an ABD in 2010 or go to WDW, so I hadn't used it in months. I imagine that's why I got the offer. It's 3X for every charge over $300 per month, so I'm going to pay off the ABD balance in one big charge in March.

Darn! Well, thanks anyways, Bobo912. 3X for my K&L ABD would be a nice chunk of change. I use my Disney Visa whenever I make a large purchase or buy online. So I've used it recently. No 3X for me...

Well, I'm not happy with Delta, already. I intentionally selected flights to minimize my exposure to commuter jets. I couldn't avoid it completely, but of the four legs of the round trip, when I originally booked the only commuter jet flight was from Grand Junction to Salt Lake City. The flight was less than an hour, so I figured that would be okay. I just checked my reservation and now I have 3 legs on commuter jets: Nashville to Salt Lake City, Grand Junction to Salt Lake City and Salt Lake City to Nashville. So instead of my one short commuter flight I have the additional 2 long ones. And when I search for flights, the flight out of Nashville doesnt even come up anymore. I don't know what that means unless it is sold out, so no chance of them selling more tickets and moving us back to a bigger plane. I think I'm going to hate Delta. I wish I had at least used Southwest for the trip to Phoenix.

I feel your pain Bobo912! We avoid Delta at all costs after being victimized by them on numerous occasions. Are you able to cancel and request a credit? (I know you probably can't ask for a refund.)

I don't know. I've been searching their website. I did find an option for changing to a different flight on the same day for a $50 charge. There aren't any options on Delta for the flight home, but I have some flexibility on the flight out since I'm going a day early, so I could change to a different flight. But I guess I would still run the risk that they might change the plane on any of their flights. Aren't commuter jets slower than a bigger plane like a 737? I've got a 55 minute layover in SLC for the connecting flight to Phoenix, so if the flight is longer I won't make my connection. The departure time and flight duration haven't changed though, so maybe I'm wrong about the small planes being slower.

I'm totally agreeing with DisFan10 here. I hate Delta with a burning passion. I have been screwed over by them so many times in the last couple of years. They were the cheapest to London/Paris, but I just could not make myself buy a ticket with them. It just wasn't worth the money. They are atrocious!

Sorry they screwed you, too... (When do you fly? Because I really doubt this is the last change you'll see).

Well, these newer generation regional jets are lighter and faster, so I don't think there is much difference. Personally, I don't like flying regional jets either, but they are supposedly just as safe as the larger jets (if you don't take into account the training and experience of the pilots.)

I hope you can find a way to rebook with another airline...

With Delta, I am sure it will change numerous times before July. I would wait until there is a flight time change and then have them alter since they wont charge you for it then.

Did you select a hotel yet for your pre-night? We will not arrive in PHX until 7pm the night before so I just need an airport hotel. Am thinking about the Embassy Suites Tempe since it comes with breakfast.

Since we're not going until July, I'll probably wait awhile and see what happens. Maybe I'll just have a few drinks before the flight and grin and bear it. I haven't booked the hotel yet, but I'm almost certain I'm going to use the Embassy Suites Tempe, as well. That is the hotel Aunt Cawa recommended and it looks good to me. Airport shuttle, manager's reception, and breakfast - all plusses. I tend to choose Hilton Hotels when I can, since they are usually pretty nice and I like their rewards program.

If it's any consolation, Delta isn't the only airline that makes radical changes. We were flying from Boston to Orlando (connecting in Washington, DC) on United. They called a couple of weeks ago and informed us that our flight has been changed. We now go from Boston to Chicago to Orlando. They even told us that there would be no extra cost for the change (or the additional 3-4 hours of flying time).

LOL. Wasn't that generous of them?!!! I fly Southwest the most and I guess I'm spoiled since they don't change their schedules and they only have one kind of plane, so I always know I'll get what I booked. The last leg of our flight home for the Galapagos trip from Miami to Nashville on American has changed twice since I booked it last August. But it's just been a time change from 10:20PM to 9:35 to 9:55. I would love for that one to be a bit earlier, since DS has to go back to school the next morning.

Doesn't that just make you want to strangle them? Chances are, the flight through Chicago is a lot cheaper than the ticket through Boston that you actually purchased...
