How many of you have made a reservation at your home resort and then switched to a different resort when the 7 month window opened? Did you call MS and ask if there was room available before cancelling your original reservation? Has anyone done this in November or early December? Did you choose to waitlist, then cancel your original reservation?

Thanks for your advice and help!

A lot of people do it (at least those represented on this board.) Member Services will tell you whether or not a room is available before they cancel your Home resort reservation. If you need to go on the Waitlist, you will keep your current reservation until something is available at another resort. You can also choose whether the waitlist room is automatically booked when available or if you would prefer Member Services contact you first. If you ask to be contacted, you will have 24 hours to call back and accept the new room, otherwise it will be given to another guest on the Waitlist.

I did that two of my last three trips.

I booked at OKW, renting points from a friend. She called, at the seven month mark, and switched to BWV. This was for our early December trip, last year.

This upcoming trip, I booked at BCV (my home) at the 11 month mark. I called MS, at the seven month mark, to switch to BWV 1BR standard view. I was able to get three nights, had to wait list for the other two. I kept my room at BCV, in case my wait list didn't come through, but it did.
