I scheduled my eye exam for later this month and have included a contact lense exam as well. I've been weaing glasses for about 5-6 years and think I'm ready for contacts. Much of the decision is based on the availablility of the new 30-day lenses. Has anyone tried them?

my lenses are 2 week brand. I ususally get more than that out of them. I keep my glasses for night after I shower or in the morning when I first get up. I found that when I switched from glasses full time to contacts I had a hard time in the sunlight. Get a good pair of sunglasses, that bit of filter you get from glasses can really make a difference when you go to contacts.

When I had my glasses updated, I got the lenses the would get dark in the sunlight. Not what I would normally wear every day but for the little time I do wear them, it's nice that the darken if I have to go out in the sunlight.

I do love wearing contacts, good luck.

I never used the 30 day contacts, but used the 2 week throw aways also. Very comfortable to wear. I also have a pair of prescription sunglasses that I could not live without! Good luck and that is exciting to be going from glasses to contacts.

I use the 30 day contacts and I love them. I also "cheat" and wear them longer than the 30 days. I started wearing them about 6 years ago and haven't had any real problems with them. At first, it took a little while getting used to putting them in and feeling them but after about a week (probably less time) you get used to them. I also ripped a few the first couple of months because I wasn't used to cleaning them. Good Luck!

I also wear the 2 week contacts. I got them in August after 8 years of glasses (before that I wore contacts for 14 years. Took time off when I had the kids.) I love them. I know many people who will wear them longer than two weeks, but I have to tell you, I can only wear them for the 2 weeks. After that my eyes get very dry and irritated. I figure it is well worth the money I spend on fresh contacts (what a good feeling!) to make sure that I have no problems.
Good luck!

I've had contacts for more years than I can remember. I got them when I was in HS... more than 20 years ago. I went from daily wear to weekly to monthly lenses. I really like the night and day ones that I have now.

Hello, my name is RUDisney, and I cheat and wear my lenses more than 30-days.

Now, having said that, you'll blink more with lenses in than without. You'll need sunglasses as your eyes will be more sensitive to sunlight. You'll love the freedom of not being tied to your glasses!

Good luck with them!
