Okay so I thought I would surprise family and switch from CBR to CR. It is obviously an increase in price but is it worth it. It will be $600 more to switch for Garden View. DS's are 8 & 5 and we will be going to Epcot and MK only. I though ease on monorail will be worth it alone.

Should I??????????

Pros & Cons

I love the CR so I am extremely biased. We just bought into BLT because of it. The ease to/from MK is wonderful. We didn't do the Epcot monorail (because we have a car) but it doesn't seem like it would be a bad thing.

I have never been at CBR so I can't help with that other than I believe that the theming at CBR is better for little ones than at CR.

Good luck!

Me, my wife, and daughter stayed at CR, Magic Kingdom View, 7th Floor and it was great. I think it's one of the best resorts there. I loved the very close walk to the MK and the nice Monorail ride to EPCOT. The MK is so close, we walked over to the park every night and watch wishes on Main Street U.S.A. It's nice when the MK closes that you don't have to run to get in line for the buses, boats, and monorail. Did you ever notice some of those lines as you were leaving MK. They would get very long. I know we were back in our rooms before alot of people even got on any transpartation back to there resorts. Taking the Monorail to EPCOT does take alot of time but it's still a nice ride.

Also, lot of people forget that CR does have easy access to some of the best restaurants on property. CR, POLY, GF, and WL all have at least one great restaurant very easy to get too. Let's not forget MK has four good restaurants as well.

I will be the first to say it's probably the worst themed resort on property, but I don't mind. To me, it's the best location on property for the MK and EPCOT.

If you can afford the $600 then the only reason I can think of to not upgrade would be the pool at CBR. Do you plan to spend much time at the pool? Personally, I'd love to be at a monorail resort but for me the decision comes down to more days at a cheaper resort vs less days at a monorail one. My family has always chosen more days. If we've got a fixed number of days no matter what and I could afford the upgrade, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

I just switched from CBR to the CR- Garden Room for our January 2010 stay. I really liked the pictures and the reviews were great for CBR... the pool and the whole pirate theme looked wonderful! BUT staying at the CR I think is going to be so much more relaxing. We can sleep in a little later, and walk over to the MK.... We love to have our dinners in all the resort hotels along the monorail so it will be perfect! Plus - the pool is new at CR and the beds look sooooo comfy- after a day in the parks, I think it is worth it to get such a good nights rest!!!

Is it worth it? In a word, IMO, YES!!! We LOVE CR. The convenience alone is worth the price (for me). And just the close proximity to MK. I think you will LOVE it there! Plus, with all the upgrades they have made. The beds ARE SUPER COMFY, and the restaurants are AWESOME!

If you think the extra cost is worth it then yes you should upgrade. Since your only going to the Magic Kingdom and Epcot you will have the easiest tim getting to each park. When going to the Magic Kingdom you can either take the Resort Monorail or the walkway and for Epcot all you do is take the Resort Monorail to the TTC, then the Epcot Monorail. Besides that since the Contemporary is a Deluxe Resort you will have much bigger guest rooms and a lot more ammenties then Caribbean Beach.

Pros & Cons
Make the switch (if the additional cost is not an issue)! But, you'll probably not want to stay anywhere else after staying at the CR.

Pros: The transportation options (boat, walkway, monorail), atmosphere, room decor, having everything in one building (even a monorail;)), beautiful Bay Lake, the arcade and BVG, the Olympiad Health Club, plenty of pool-area seating, hot tub, and a lovely beach...:thumbsup2.

Cons: Not wanting to leave and always comparing other WDW resorts to the CR:snooty:.

I forgot to mention on the Contemporary FAQ thread it was reported that the brand new kids splash play area opened last week, so I would think that's something they would enjoy.

I am soooo glad to hear all the positive reviews!!!!! I am still contemplating and it is all my decision since the family will not know until check-in. ;)

It has been a 20 year dream of mine to stay at CR. Money, well yes isn't it always an issue but I am lucky to be a Per Diem RN and can make up the $600 in one 12 hour shift. So I think an extra days work is well worth it .:thumbsup2

We will only be there 3 nights, Day 1 Epcot, Day 2 MK - MNSSHP, and Day 3 enjoying resort. The kids will play in a puddle so have a nice big pool with a slide is a bonus. That is why I originally booked CBR, plus we r going on a 4 night DCL cruise after the parks.

And I must say we r spoiled deluxe resortaholics!!!!! We like space and comfy beds.

I think I have a decision. :cool1:

:goodvibes I 'll keep your secret...we are ding the same thing and surprising DS in 17 days for his Bday..we only have a weekend, so hitting one park, and not even a convenient park (DHS) BUT ....DS has wanted to stay almost as long as you in the CR MK view...so better for our wallet to do it for a weekend instead of a week! Have a great time, we stayed at CBR and it isour least favorite resorts, mostly due ot their busses, so given your parks choices, heck yeah..you definitely made the right choice!

Great for you! I think the Contemporary is lovely. We stayed at the Poly last trip and my kids prefered the arcade there, along with their food court! We plan to stay there some time in the future! Hope you have a magical trip:wizard:!

We too are going to CR in August for 5 nights, staying in the standard garden wing. I figured this was the best resort to stay at with our 3 kids. Much easier access to the parks.
I dont want to deal with the bus system with cranky kids so it is very well worth the money. You have made the right decision. I would forfeit the fancy pool at CBR to stay at CR any day. From what i have read the CR pool area is very nice now and they have also finished the kids splash area. I heard the waterslide is very nice also.

We just made the switch from CBR to CR for our upcoming stay in August. Trust me, it's not just the little ones that get cranky on the buses! We're just going for a long weekend and the access to MK can't be beat. Can't wait til our trip!

Have a great time!

OK I just made the change....SHHHHHHHHH...It's a surprise. :wizard:

I am surprising my family with CR, too.:thumbsup2
My DH and I have stayed there before without kids and loved it. My DS said he knows what the surprise resort is (CR), so I am trying to throw him off the scent.

Have a great stay and enjoy your cruise, too.
