I still do not know anyone who has been sickened with H1N1.

Pretty sure that my son had it, but it is so prevelent around here that his Dr. isn't even testing for it anymore if you are an otherwise healthy person. Confirmed cases of kids having it in each of my kids classrooms , husbands secretary had it - and I just drove my neighbors child home from school with a suspected case of it (her best friend has a confirmed case) (I'm their emergency contact.)

So yeah, in MD at least, there is alot of it.

I'm in MD too - Harford County. There is alot of it going around in the schools.

They haven't been testing in our area for quite a while. The kids school nurse said the best she can tell me is that there have been many children with 'flu like symptoms' out lately.

Partial quote:

"As of last week, there were more than 5,000 cases of flu reported, compared to 7 cases in October of last year. More than 800 people have died from H1N1, including 86 children, according to the latest reports from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention."

The above news report is from today.

True, 5000 cases thus far in October compared to 7 cases last October is a huge increase. However, out of country of 300+ million, I guess it is not so surprising that a number of us have yet to meet with a H1N1 infected person.

I think a lot of people are getting colds, hayfever, etc., and are 'self diagnosing' themselves with H1N1.

I know about 10 people who've had suspected cases. They aren't fully testing right now but we got a notice from school and cub scouts that at least one child had it.

A friend in TN and her daughter had it. The daughter has some medical conditions and was really really sick. She spent several nights in the hospital.

They suspect our neighbor's DS had it. He was out of school with 102+ fevers for nearly 2 weeks. His cousin had a confirmed case. She is pregnant so she was tested and hospitalized.

Did you know anyone who was alive in the 1970's has probably been exposed already to the swine flu? That is why you just hear about the kids getting so sick.

No one in my family. A couple of students at the school I teach at. Plus my DD's teacher (from what I hear) and a handful of others that my children interact with.

No one near me or in my family, but my boss's son (they live in Dallas) knows a few kids at his school who've had it.

DD7 has it right now and dd11 is home with headache and stomache ache-not sure if she may be getting it. DS 10 went to school with a headache. I'd love to get it all over with now.
