So we have had to bump our May 2012 trip up to March 2012! Not complaing at all! It's getting us to the WORLD so much sooner! But I am wondering the first full week in March are we going to be able to use the resort's swimming pool or will it be to cold?

TIA!!

We were at WDW in March 2011, and absolutely used the pools! We also visited both water parks. We've been to the parks in January and February and used the pools too.

We'll be there the same time, and I've been curious about the same thing.

You really won't know the answer to this question until you get about a week beforehand. If you're interested in seasonal averages, just go to www.weather.com and enter WDW's zip code 32830 to find the typical ranges.

You are asking a very subjective question.

You didn't indicate where you are from; you didn't indicate how cold temperatures you can tolerate. I live in the northeast and work in construction, so I can tolerate lower temperatures much better than most people.

The pools are heated; can you tolerate the walk back to the room if the temperature is in the 50's, even the 40's in the evening.

Secondly, no one can predict the temperature this far ahead (believe me, if I could, I wouldn't be working at all). The best thing is to look at the temperatures before you go and then decide if it is warm enough to swim for you or can you tolerate it if is it cold the walk back to the room.

I have been going the same week almost every year since 2000 and the temperature has rarely been the same from year to year.

My early March trip had the best weather of any other trip. A few mornings started off chilly, but it heated up quickly so we never wore a jacket so we weren't stuck carrying it later. The daytime temps definitely allowed for swimming and, in fact, the kids swam at night...but I had on sweat pants and a jacket.

The thing about Florida is that good weather days for swimming might happen at any time of year! My advise is to always bring your swim suit, any time of year (we do). The worst that can happen is that you might decide that the weather you actually get precludes swimming.

I've been 10+ times in February and always been able to swim for at least part of each trip (even Feb 2010, when highs were in the 50s for most of the trip, but we got one day in the 70s). Thus, while it is impossible to know for sure this far in advance, it is very likely that the weather in early March will be nice enough for at least part of your trip to be able to swim.

I would say you should be fine, given you're not susceptible to slightly colder temps. I think it really just depends on the person. I know of a family who goes every year to WDW in December (from Ohio where we're used to the cold :sad2:) and absolutely can't tolerate it. And I also know someone from the South, when we vacationed in South Carolina in July, who complained the water was freezing when the pool was 85 deg. :lmao: (Her husband from New York said it was fine.)

However, if it was me, I would (and even I am generally a "warm-blooded person.") :)

We hit WDW the Wednesday before Presidents week quite a few years....day time temps were always warm enough for swimming before sunset as long as the wind wasn't too bad. After dark the wind usually dies and a heated pool was always fun....getting out was a bit chilly, but a towel and a quick run to the room wasn't too painful. We're from WAY upstate NY so 60's in February at WDW is nothing compared to our 20's back home. I say bring the swimsuits and see what happens. Our WDW motto....go with the flow!

This is good advice. I go every year the first or second week of Dec and with the exception of only two years have been able to go swimming at least a few days each trip. I'm from the south and do not tolerate the cold well.:rotfl: I was there last year the first week of Dec and almost froze, but coming back from Epcot a few nights I saw a few people in Storm Along Bay. Brrrr! No way this southern gal was getting any near the pool that week.:rotfl: I was wearing a coat, hat, scarf, and gloves and was still freezing.:rotfl: I also had a swimsuit and coverup packed though, like I always do. I'll be back down there Nov 26th-Dec 4th and Feb 4th-11th and plan on packing for kinds of weather (swimsuits as well as jackets).

The water in the pools will be warm enough for swimming. They are heated to 82 degrees or thereabouts.

Whether the outside air will be warm enough is a question no one can answer.

I'll be going to WDW and HPW in early March and was wondering if my little pool rat would be able to get some swim time in.

If it helps, the Farmers Almanac for winter 2012 predicts (speculates?) that Florida will be mild and dry this winter.

I'll be packing jackets and swimsuits for my trip. I'll check out the 10-day weather forecast online before we fly out. And I'll be crossing my fingers for the best case scenario. If it's not swim weather, we won't be overly disappointed because our expectations are low.

And don't forget that relaxing in a hot tub can be appealing even when swimming in a pool is not!

We have gone for President's Week two years in a row now and the weather was totally different each week; of course, last year, Pres. Week was a bit later, so that helped. Last year, it was in the low 80s during the day and we got plenty of use out of the pools. Having said that, I wouldn't choose my resort based on the pools at this time of the year.

I'm going in Januari and I'll be bringing my bathingsuit :)

The pools are heated and it cant be much colder than temps I've had at home :rotfl:
I've been swimming when it was snowing so...
