[Ugly Ducklin']

Hi,

Does anyone have any information on Beluga's that were at Seaworld years ago? We went in 2005 and did the BIP with Spooky, Bandit was there but in a separate tank. We were just at Seaworld 2 weeks ago, and saw that Spooky and Bandit were gone, we asked the lady in the wild artic but she didn't know what became of either....

I was just at SW about 2 weeks ago, and saw 2 beluga whales in Wild Artic..not sure of the names, but they were very vocal and active.

They currently have 4 Belugas at Seaworld (3 males and 1 female). Aurek and Klondyke were in the exhibit in September and also did the Beluga Interaction programme and Juno and the female who moved to Seaworld in summer and whose name I can't remember were in a pool behind the scenes.

I remember Bandit died about a year and a half, maybe 2 years ago. The Educators basically are trained to never admit that the animals die, tho--if you ask, they might say a particular animal is "somewhere else" but that's about all you'll get.

I believe Spooky passed away November of last year. Right now there are 4 belugas, Juno, Aurek, Klondike and Maple.

I remember Bandit died about a year and a half, maybe 2 years ago. The Educators basically are trained to never admit that the animals die, tho--if you ask, they might say a particular animal is "somewhere else" but that's about all you'll get.

Are those the people in the red jackets? Why do they call them educators and why do you think they're not allowed to say what really happened to the whales?

The guys with the red jackets at Wild Arctic are from Animal Care. The education department wear either light blue shirts or green sweat shirts.

I think SW has changed their shirt styles and colors. I know that in the past, I've spoken with at least two women at Wild Arctic who were wearing red jackets and they said they were with the education department. I guess it's not all that important but I still wonder why they're not allowed to tell the truth about whether an animal has passed away. It may be that it just considered too touchy a subject to talk about or some such but it'd be nice to know the truth.

In July my DD did the Beluga Interaction, which i must say was excellent.
While she was in doing it , the girl who met us to take her in , talked to us while it was going on. Her name was Kelley, and was very informative, they had 6 belugas at Seaworld in July, all where under six years old, as for names i havent a clue
