Sweet Tea?

I would have to agree with this!!
But speaking of lemon, do all restaurants put a lemon slice on your sweet tea when you order it, unless you specifically ask them not to? Or is this just a Tennessee thing? I hate that, I always have to ask them to leave the lemon off, or it gets that little bit of a sour taste around the rim, and just ruins the whole glass for me. :rotfl:

I think it is a TN thing and I agree the lemon ruins it!!

I don't see what the big deal is at WDW about making the tea sweet I mean it adds all of 5 minutes to the process all they need is an extra tea container and some sugar.

We went to a wedding once and the brides family members were all from England (the wedding was in FL), a cousin asked DH if he wanted some tea and of course he said YES thinking it was gonna be "his kind of tea", well she brings him a little cup of hot tea. When she handed it to him I thought he was gonna throw it at her.. :rotfl: He said, "What is this"? She said, "It is the tea you asked for". He explained down here in the south this is not considered tea, and he ended up drinking a coke..hahaha poor guy!!!

AGREED!!!!

Ugh, I hate hate hate hate Lemon will my sweet tea! With nice hot tea it is just fine, but it ruins the taste of iced tea to me.

I was so happy when I moved to TN for the reason that I could have sweet tea whenever I wanted it. Pretty good tea from around here comes from Pal's or Poor Richards if you want it fast. Strangly, I found some of the best at this wonderful asian fusion restaurant! MMMM hot and sour soup and sweet tea.... :lmao:

The absolute best Sweet Tea is found at McAlister's Deli. It is so famous is it a registered trademark. For locations and the history of the tea click the link. Sorry to say there is not a location in Orlando but one in Tampa and Gainesville and I am trying to get them to put one in the WDW area.

I'm in TN and I can't speak for other states but it does happen a lot here. Although most of the time the wedge is resting on the lip of your glass, not floating inside the tea. I don't mind that so much, I can wipe that off :)

ETA: The best sweet tea I have ever had "out" was suprisingly at a Krystal :) (or White Castle to some of you folks) I'd go there just to get a sweettea (it's one word in my neck of the woods, hee hee). But alas, that Krystal was near a place I use to work about 45 minutes from here so I can't zip through that drive-thru for tea anymore :(

This Northerner loves sweet tea! I first tasted it in Columbia, SC and I couldn't get enough of the stuff the whole time I was there. I was bummed to hear that you can no longer get it at LTT, but if I can buy some at Publix for the hotel that will be great.

In New England if you want anything remotely sweet in your tea you need to add it yourself from a packet or order the "fruit flavored" iced tea (raspberry, peach, etc). It certainly isn't sweet tea, but it tastes better than that nasty splenda stuff! I am hoping to score some sweet tea while at WDW. :Pinkbounc

So, who do we write to en masse telling WDW to starting serving sweet tea? :)

It's a NC thing too, I totally agree about the lemon. :thumbsup2

Because I make a gallon per day, if I don't get the chance to make tea, Food Lion is now selling sweet tea in a gallon size. My husband loves it, and I make tea with 2 cups of sugar.

Yeah I don't remember seeing lemon near anyone's sweet tea in Mississippi. In fact, you'd probably hear "ya'll aren't from around here are ya" if you asked for lemon. I love the sweet tea at Lambert's in Sikeston, MO (I think). Awesome southern cookin' too and they throw the rolls to you if you want one. I was so bummed when just my mom and kids went to Mississippi this year....No Lambert's for me  and they called me from there!

We just moved to Georgia a little over a year ago and we laughed the first time we went to a restaurant. We ordered tea and they asked if we wanted sweet or unsweet.

Now, we've got it down and we even get the little twang on the "sweet" going. :)

My DH and I love sweet tea and would love to have it at WDW, but it seems like there's just nowhere that we can get to easily to have some.

Oh, and the best sweet tea I ever had was at "Lady and Sons" in Savannah....they add fresh mint leaves to theirs......yum, yum, yummy!!!!!
Sweet tea is awesome but thats' why so many people and kids here have rotten teeth :teeth: .

Seems like about half the places in VA add a lemon. Mostly the big chains. I had sweet tea at TGI Fridays earlier this week and they added a lemon.

This is true in our area in North Carolina, we DON't want lemon in our tea. Yea, I have tried it but it's not the same. Matter of fact I'm not allowed to buy lemons. :)

Funny, both in & outside of the World, whenever I ask for "sweet" tea (an unknown treat above the Mason-Dixon line); the servers usually shake their heads & indicate that Florida is not a "southern" state.:confused3 When asked to elaborate, they explain nearly everyone is from somewhere else - usually from up north.

I've tried to duplicate myself via cooking the sugar syrup but, it's not the same. Restaurants in Myrtle Beach make a mean sweet tea.:thumbsup2

You've got that right! We'll go to the Chic-fil-a in MB and order 2 gallons of it and enjoy it for a few days at the beach. :cloud9:

Lemon, that would be me. I swear by adding 2-3 DROPS of fresh lemon juice to my sweet tea (I'm talking about 2-3 drops per GALLON), it just adds a little somethin! Sometimes I get bold and put some mint leaves on top!!!!! :sunny:

And I'm nowhere near New York City! :rotfl2:

Oh, I LOVE a fresh lemon slice in my sweet tea! Yum.

welovedis.............yeah, you and I are farther away from NYC than my folks in Harrisburg, Pa. People forget there are other places in NY. :rotfl:

What do ya mean Florida doesn't think they are a southern state? Have they looked at a map lately? That's it .....Now I am kicking them out of the south! :rotfl2:

NO LEMONS! In restaurants, I tell the server no lemon please. I don't even want the lemon juice on the rim of my glass!!

Pal's??? You from upper east TN? This asian fusion restaurant, is it in J.C. TN? I think I have eaten there :sunny: You must not be too far away.

We don't either. Whenever we go out to eat all five of us adults order sweet tea and then somebody will say "None of us want lemons please" and the waitress always says "Really? That makes my job easier." :) I can't stand lemon in drinks (except for lemonade). It makes the tea taste so strange.

We were in Cheeseburger in Paradise the other night and we ordered sweet tea. Our waiter brought us out mango tea. It was so gross. That's the only kind of tea they have. Um, mango tea is not sweet tea. :teeth:

I used to live in Cincinnati and more restaurants had sweet tea there than any do around here. I guess that's what happens when you live in a tourist area, the restaurants keep in supply what they want. But there's always Cracker Barrel! (BTW, I used to work there and they make their sweet tea with an entire pitcher of sugar. My kind of tea!)

LTT has great sweet tea. Our server said he can always tell the sweet tea lovers that come in there because they act like they are going through sweet tea withdrawals and usually drink 5-10 glasses of tea as soon as they sit down. He was so nice he gave us all to go cups filled with sweet tea when we left! He said "I know I shouldn't encourage your addiction but here's some for the road." :teeth:

I lived at Camp LeJeune North Carolina and we used to joke about how the only things "Southern" were the heat and the sweet tea at every restaurant. It's a huge military base so there were more people not from North Carolina than locals. I was in Sweet Tea Heaven though :cloud9:
