Do any the restarants and/or resorts serve sweet tea? I'm southern through and through and love iced tea -- but only if sweetened. :thumbsup2

I know where you're coming from...I only remember LTT having sweet tea.

I'm sure they do just order it as Iced tea and they will get it worked out...JK I had friends in Kentucky and I ordered hot tea and they looked at me like I was nuts!

Funny, both in & outside of the World, whenever I ask for "sweet" tea (an unknown treat above the Mason-Dixon line); the servers usually shake their heads & indicate that Florida is not a "southern" state.:confused3 When asked to elaborate, they explain nearly everyone is from somewhere else - usually from up north.

I've tried to duplicate myself via cooking the sugar syrup but, it's not the same. Restaurants in Myrtle Beach make a mean sweet tea.:thumbsup2

The only two I know about are LTT (although I've recently read on the boards that they no longer serve sweet tea. I'll find out next week. Also the Trails End Restaurant at Fort Wilderness serves sweet tea. I think I may have also read that the HDDR might serve sweet tea, this may make sense since they share the same kitchen as the Trails End Restaurant.

I love GOOD sweet tea!

If I remember right they dont have sweet tea but you can add sugar which I use splenda so thats perfect..

Yeah I thought they'd have sweet tea for sure when we went but I never found any. I enjoy a good sweet tea every once in a while. I'm a first generation Yankee, so when I visit with family in Mississippi I can't wait to have some of my aunt's sweet tea, hers is the best ever. :drinking1

I make a gallon of sweet tea a day, we drink it morning, noon and night. Once the tea is cold it's hard to mix the sugar in it, it's just not the same.

What is sweet tea? I'm a Yank!

Sweet tea is tea that is sweetened with sugar (REAL sugar...NOT a substitute) prior to the tea getting cold so that the sugar disolves. There is no comparison between sweet and unsweet tea!

:drinking1 My family have been yankees for 100s of years, but my mom always made sweet tea in the summer. There was always a batch being made. We called it iced tea though.

I never saw any sweet tea at our last trip, and I definitelty missed it! Usually i'll boil 4 cups water, turn the burner off and add 2 family size tea bags and let it sit for a while (anywhere from 5 to 30 minutes) and pour it in a pitcher with about 1 cup sugar (sometimes less), add 4 cups cold water and stir and add ice. Served with more ice in the glass. It's the best. There is no way to sweeten the tea once the ice has been added. The sugar substitutes really don't taste the same, to me they leave an aftertaste.

Sweet tea, made correctly, is the nectar of the gods! Yummy!

Amen to that, Sharlon!! People who have never tried it really don't know what they are missing out on!! :cloud9:

I am from the north but am a FL transplant. :sunny: Sweet tea is da bomb!!!! :cloud9: If you are off site and want the best sweet tea around, go to Sonny's Barbeque!!!! They have the best. :thumbsup2

The difference between sweet tea and regular iced tea is that sweet tea has sugar added to it before it is cooled, that way the sugar actually dissolves. I make my sweet tea by boiling water and adding 3 family size tea bags. I am not sure how long, but not a very long time then adding one cup of sugar. Once the sugar is dissolved then I put the mixture into a gallon pitcher and add the rest of the water to make one gallon. I played around with the tea strength, depends how strong you like your tea, but the key is the one cup of sugar! Mmmmm.

While we were at POFQ, I asked if they had sweet tea. The CM went over to the tea bin and turned the little knob around and it said sweet on it. Not sure how it made a difference but it did. I make a gallon every other day at home and work. I put my sugar in the pot of water and the 3 large tea bags together and let them boil together. Let the water start to boil and turn it off steep a few minutes to the strength you like. My favorite tea is Lipton. :sunny:

The best place I have found for us Northeners to get sweet tea is at Cracker Barrell. We go to Charlotte NC and that is the first thing we have to have!

I am wiping the tears away for those of you who don't know what sweet tea is. This is the beverage of choice for most everyone I know.

OP, after an incredible trip to DW in Dec. '03, I remember feeling that something was missing inside. I was really tired of drinking all those coke products all week long & then we found some amazing sweet tea. We found ours in the POR at Boatwrights. If you love GOOD sweet tea, you'll love this! :thumbsup2

As of July 2, Liberty Tree Tavern did not have sweet tea. I was also told that they did not have the honey butter anymore. That could've been a lunch thing, though.
